Jurnal Pariwisata Terapan (JPT) is a biannual, peer-reviewed, open access academic journal dedicated to studies in applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites authors in the field of applied tourism to submit manuscripts written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. The objective of JPT is delivering comprehensive knowledge on applied tourism science in Indonesia. JPT invites manuscript in three main topics, but not limited to an application of tourism science in hospitality industry, tourism businesses, and destination development in Indonesia. We encourage different perspectives on tourism science application to broader views in the field of tourism and contribute to tourism science development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Garuda Indonesia as national airlines in Indonesia have integrated reservation system. PT. Dymens Travel Bureau, as travel agent which provides Garuda Indonesia’s ticket sales as their main product, implemented this system. This reservation system have some steps that must be done correctly. Besides the system itself, agent must provide equipment such as computers with stable internet connection, staff with high computer and airlines sytem literacy. The aim of this paper is to analyse Garuda Indonesia’s online system ticket reservation at PT. Dymens Travel Bureau. Reservation system is complex thus need higher competency in system literacy to operates it. This research used descriptive qualitative method to exlpain steps of reservation in Garuda Indonesia’s System. This system generates Passenger Name Record (PNR) with passenger information inculidng name, flight schedule, route, class of flight, ticket number, time limit, and booking code. This reseach aslo found some non technical problem in reservation system due lack of competency of staff and unstable internet connection.

Abstract

Tourism is one reliable sector in Indonesia. It’s great contribution for being the second place of the biggest source foreign exchange after oil and gas. This final assignment report is to eximine about the operational management city tour package of one travel agent in one tourist city in Indonesia. This research is purposed to know details the operational management of city tour package in Kirana Tour Yogyakarta. This research used the cualitative method with participatory in collecting data. So with participatory research,researcher could analyze the problems of this research lively. This reseach showed that the operasional management of city tour package could be seen from how the way to answer or react what the consument want, counting technic of basic cost, tour perform and the evaluation after finishing the tour. Kirana Tour was success to build consument satisfication by creating operational management.

Abstract

This article explores about the tourism potency of Lasem city, a district located in Rembang Regency, Central Java. Data are collected from information circulating on the internet, some testimonials from blogs, and also observations from researchers directly. This article uses city branding theory to explore tourist destination and to maximize the potential things that can be developed. From the results of  discussion, the strategies for developing Lasem city to attract many visitors are to formulate a new city branding for Lasem city supported by the development of infrastructure for supporting a city branding: the Lasem as Batik-Coffee City.

Abstract

Trisik beach is one of potential tourism attraction in Banaran Village Kulonprogo, it has a lot of potential to be developed. Trisik beach offers several attractive tourism attractions such as beach, mangrove plants, turtle conservation, and agrotourism. Among its potential, agrotourism had a big chance to developed. Most of the community in Trisik beach village are actively involved and get the benefit from agriculture. The development of community based tourism requires the participation of local communities in the entire development phases starting from planning, implementation, and supervision. However, public participation is often completely overlooked. This study aims to analyzed development of tourism and formulate the model of community involvement in tourism development. The study is conducted  in Trisik beach area, Banaran, Galur, Kulonprogo. The proces of collecting data through the study literature, in depth interview, and field observation. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis.

Abstract

This article discusses the types of tours with visitors who have business needs (business visitor). Tour with visitor aimed at business (MICE / business visitor) different from facet needs, handling with tour with visitor aim of recreation (leisure visitor). In terms of foreign exchange earnings that affect the economic sector is the reason, because spending MICE / business visitor is greater than the visitors with recreation purposes. The analysis of the discussion refers to the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) ranking. The findings suggest that the competitiveness of Indonesian MICE destinations and MICE city in Indonesia is still weak compared to neighboring countries of Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. In order to competitiveness of MICE destinations in Indonesia, there are four factors that must be considered in the criteria and indicators of a MICE destination. These factors are accessibility, attraction, amenitas as well as human resources and stakeholder support. So that a region / region / city does not easily declare itself as a MICE destination.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify potential tourism village in the District of Jerowaru, East Lombok Regency. The data used were the primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained by interviews, while second­ary data obtained from literature related studies, websites, data and information from the local government. The study analysis were included an analysis for the tourism potential in the village and an analysis for the possiblility development of tourist villages in the district. The study found that the potential development of tourist villages in the district was spreading. The identification result showed there were 6 villages that possible for tourist village in district of Jerowaru. The villages were classified into two categories namely the village ready to be a tourism village and pre-release tour village. The villages that ready to be a tourism village in Jerowaru are Sekaroh and Ekas Buana.

Abstract

 Tourism Kampung is an alternative tourist destination for tourists who want to vacation in urban areas. Basen is a tourism kampung that was inaugurated since 2011. Basen Tourism Kampung has a major attraction as a kampung of silver artisans and silver sellers. The issues discussed in this paper is the existence of Basen as a tourism kampung that has the main attractions of silver handicrafts, not only silver products but also tourists can be involved in the process of making silver made in the occupancy community of Basen. Problems arise when the online media created a virtual transaction phenomenon of buyers and sellers, so without the physical showrooms the silver artisans and silver sellers can commercialize their products. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. Survey conducted to collect data. The survey targets are silver artisans and silver sellers. In-depth interviews were conducted on silver artisans and silver sellers to obtain the accuracy of the data. The result of the research shows that the important aspect in the existence of silver handicrafts in Basen is the existence of productive house in Kampung Basen and community of silver artisans and silver sellers. The productive house of the community in Kampung Basen is not only used as occupancy but also the activity of silver handicraft which became the main attraction in Basen Tourism Kampung.

Abstract

Nagari Koto Hilalang is one of potential tourist villages in Solok Regency, West Sumatera Province. This area has beautiful landscape, traditional houses of Minang as heritage and hundreds years old of ancient artefacts as well as lifestyle of local community that still keeps socio-culture system and unique local wisdom. Those potentials have not been exploited, managed and developed to the maximum by the local government and community up to now. This research aimed to arrange the concept of marketing communication strategy for Nagari Koto Hilalang in Kubung Subdistrict, Solok Regency, West Sumatera Province to attract tourists’ interest.

Abstract

Sport Tourism telah menjadi industri pariwisata dengan perkembangan yang sangat signifikan di seluruh dunia. Dampak multiganda dari penyelenggaraan wisata olahraga berupa peningkatan ekonomi, perbaikan infrastruktur, promosi destinasi wisata, dan pengembangan potensi daya tarik wisata. International Musi Triboatton (IMT) adalah suatu kegiatan berskala internasional yang memadukan kegiatan promosi pariwisata dengan kegiatan olahraga dan diselenggarakan setiap tahun di Sungai Musi, Sumatera Selatan. Kegiatan ini memanfaatkan potensi sungai sebagai arena perlombaan tiga jenis olahraga air, yaitu rafting, kayak, dan perahu naga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep IMT dilihat dari tiga aspek yaitu manajemen olah raga, manajemen event pariwisata, dan manajemen kegiatan pendukung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode qualitative descriptive evaluation dan analisis SWOT Kuantitatif. Pengambilan data primer dilakukan dengan melakukan penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara mendalam (indepth interview) kepada pemerintah, komunitas, media, akademis, dan masyarakat, didukung dengan pengamatan langsung dan dokumentasi. Data sekunder didapatkan dari survey instansi terkait dan kajian literatur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, model pengembangan event sport tourism dengan manajemen olahraga, manajemen event pariwisata, dan manajemen kegiatan pendukung mampu bersinergi mewujudkan atraksi event sport tourism. Strategi keberlanjutan pengembangan sport tourism memerlukan restrukturisasi dalam aspek pendanaan, marketing, dan promosi pariwisata.

Abstract

 AbstractThe continuous rapidly growth of tourism sector with the tight competition in the field of tourismmakes not all tourist destinations in the world always experience an increase in the number of tourist visits each year. Banjarmasin City, dubbed the “Kota Seribu Sungai” or "City of Thousand Rivers" and is known as the Thousand Rivers tourist destination has experiencedfluctuate number of tourist arrivals and tend to decline. The fluctuate number of tourist arrivalssourced from tourist visiting decisions can be influenced by various factors, including tourism destination productsand image. This study aims to see the effects of tourism destination products consisting of physical products, people, packages, and programsalsothe image of tourism destinations consisting of cognitive image and affective image on tourists visiting decision to the city of Thousand River Banjarmasin. The data obtained were taken by questionnaire to 123 tourists by accidental sampling. The results of the research were analyzed using multiple linear regression with two equations, namely (I) The influence of tourism destination products on tourist visiting decision and (II) The impact of tourism destination image on tourist visiting decision. The resultsfound the positive influence of tourism destination products to thetourist visiting decision of 54.5% and the image of tourism destination on the tourist visiting decision of 53.4% and the rest of 45.5% and 46.6% influenced by other factors not examined. The results of the analysis also showed the effect of tourism destination products variable partially consisting of physical products, packages, and programs have an effect on the decision of tourists while people have no influence. As for the variable image of tourism destinations in partial consisting of cognitive image and affective image affect the decision of tourists visiting to Kota Seribu Sungai Banjarmasin.
