Abstract

Though communication education in Nepal is largely remained focused on exogenous source(s) for long time ongoing endeavors in the recent years – especially in the field of communication theory – have been forwarding the agenda of paradigm shift in communication discipline. The ongoing paradigm shift is looking beyond de-Westernization and forwarding the notion of Re-orientation. De-Westernization has been the dominant perspective while critiquing the theorization of communication, but there needs Re-orientation for re-centering indigenous perspectives in any discipline. Hence, it is pertinent to observe and promote the re-orientation initiatives in the discipline. Drawing on instances both from the East and the West, an appraisal on contemporary endeavors to re-orient communication theory towards philosophical and cultural heritage of Nepal has been presented.

Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the most heavily influenced sectors of information technology. Hotels that are a component of tourism cannot be separated from these influences, especially in information services, room reservations, check-in / check-out service, and other services. With the sophistication of information technology, everyone can access any information, from anywhere; at a very cheap price even every country provides free facilities for that purpose. This study uses qualitative methods where the data source obtained by looking for some libraries related to self check-in. The results show that there are some differences that applied between the check-in manual and self check-in, and the impact caused by the application of self check-in. The positive impact of self check-in are speeding up the check-in process, saving payrolls, simplifying services, simplifying reporting, and saving time. While the negative impacts such as reducing employment in developing countries, reducing social communication / human touch, reducing the understanding of cross cultural understanding, allowing the occurrence of crime (cyber crime) as well as very expensive initial cost.

Abstract

The development of education is one priority in the national development agenda. The development of education is very important because it shows significant role in achieving progress in many aspects of life; such as social, economic, political, and cultural. Therefore, the Government is obliged to fulfill the right of every citizen in obtaining educational services to improve the quality of life of the Indonesian people as mandated by the 1945 Constitution, which requires that the government is responsible for creating the intellectual life of the nation and the general welfare. Having enjoyed a dozen years of education in Indonesia makes us feel sad and less satisfied. Assessments were done more based on results-oriented, not by process. Guidance to the students often ignore EQ (Emotional Quotient) and SQ (Spiritual Quotient), education practitioners only emphasizes the IQ (Intellectual Quotient). In this paper presented three central issues: i) improving quality, ii) equity of access, and iii) the efficiency of the education budget. The research analyzed by descriptive qualitative. There are still many things that must be addressed related to the national education system. Educational equity that is currently lacking a well realized. The problem is because education itself is oriented in urban areas and the subsidy from the government that was still not enough for students. The effort of the government in conducting educational equity for poor and remote areas in Indonesia is not enough with the 9- year compulsory education program and the procurement of information technology such as television, radio, and internet.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui implementasi kurikulum 2010 pada Jurusan Pariwisata Politeknik Negeri Bali, faktor pendukung dan penghambat, dan implikasi dari implementasi kurikulum tersebut.Teori yang digunakan adalah CIPP evaluation yang meliputi Contex, Input, Process dan Product. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Program Studi Manajemen Bisnis Pariwisata dengan sampel 80 orang mahasiswa dan 47 orang alumni. Data penelitian dianalisis dan disajikan dengan statistik deskriptif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa variabel konteks, masukan, proses dan produk termasuk kedalam kategori baik. Faktor pendukung adalah kesesuaian isi kurikulum dengan visi, misi dan tujuan Program Studi, tuntutan dan kondisi industri pariwisata dan masyarakat, kemajuan IPTEK khususnya bidang pariwisata, kondisi perkembangan mahasiswa, tingkat penguasaan materi pembelajaran mahasiswa, tingkat capaian kompetensi mahasiswa dan kemauan mahasiswa untuk belajar. Faktor penghambatnya adalah sarana dan prasarana pendidikan, pelayanan administrasi dalam hal surat menyurat, sertifikasi mahasiswa dan belum adanya dosen native speaker. Waktu tunggu lulusan memperoleh pekerjaan rata-rata 2,1 minggu. Gaji pertama lulusan sebesar Rp. 2.000.000. Tiga kelompok besar bidang kerja lulusan adalah Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage Service and Production, dan Front Office. Posisi/Jabatan kerja lulusan, sebagian besar (72.3 persen) lulusan memulai bekerja pada posisi sebagai staf.

Abstract

Community service in form of practical tourism and foreign language training for local merchants and guides in Penglipuran tourist village, Bangli regency was aimed at improving the knowledge of Japanese tourism and vocabulary and English in accordance with the appropriate grammar. The targets in this training were local merchants and guides in Penglipuran village who had less knowledge about tourism and the proper usage of foreign language. Not only the training of tourism and practical foreign languages, local merchants and guides were also given knowledge about the characteristics of domestic and international tourists, as well as ways of serving the tourists in accordance with the agreed standards. The special target of this dedication was to find a social formula to solve the problems that occurred in the tourist village of Penglipuran. The fostering system implemented so far was less effective so that it led to a decline in knowledge about tourism and foreign languages for local merchants and guides who were the tourism actors expected to provide correct information to the tourists. If this was left unchecked, the number of tourist arrivals and local merchants and guides who had international standard capability would continue to decrease annually. The method of devotion used was the workshop and FGD so that the results of teaching could be understood by Penglipuran village management to continue to conduct trainings that educate local merchants and guides.

Abstract

Soft skills are needed to have a successful life and career for students and can be trained in classroom by conducting collaborative learning. Then, polytechnic students have collaboration learning in their English classroom activity which is useful for their soft skills achivements. However, the students which have different level can have different perceptions on it. This research tries to compare students’ perceptions on their soft skills acquirement in the use of collaborative learning in English classroom in a state polytechnic. The first group is the freshmen, meanwhile the second group is the third grade students of Diploma 3. The study employs a qualitative research design, which is a case study. The data are gained from questionnaire, then observation and interviews are used to triangulate the data. The findings show that the freshmen perceive that they acquire soft skills in 90.9%, meanwhile the third graders are in 84.9%. This concludes that freshmen soft skills acquirement is higher than the third graders. It is recommended that collaborative learning method should be continued to be used to develop the students’ soft skills, and the type of collaborative learning should be more appropriate for different grades of students

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris telah dipelajari sejak mereka berada di tingkat keempat di sekolah dasar. Mereka juga telah belajar tentang bentuk kalimat berulang-ulang, ketika mereka berada di sekolah SMP dan SMA. Meskipun siswa telah diajar tentang bentuk kalimat, beberapa dari mereka masih memiliki beberapa kesalahan ketika mereka menulis bahasa Inggris. Hal ini bisa terjadi karena sebenarnya bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa asing bagi mereka. Dimana dalam bahasa pertama mereka, Indonesia Bahasa, mereka tidak akan menemukan semacam tenses. Jika mereka ingin mengungkapkan kegiatan mereka, mereka akan menggunakan bentuk yang sama dari kata kerja. Tulisan ini bertujuan membahas penggunaan tenses pada abstrak skripsi mahasiswa Jurusan Akuntansi Politeknik Negeri Bali. Ditemukan banyak kesalahan-kesalahan penggunaan tenses pada abstrak skripsi mahasiswa terutama pada bentuk simple past dan simple present tenses.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan merumuskan strategi pengembangan yang sesuai bagi Pulau Nusa Penida sebagai kawasan pariwisata yang berkelanjutan, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan, memperpanjang lama tinggal serta meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat tanpa mengabaikan kelestarian alam dan budaya di kawasan Pulau Nusa Penida. Untuk memperoleh strategi yang sesuai maka digunakan analisis SWOT , dengan sebelumnya melakukan identifikasi terhadap faktor strategis internal dan faktor strategis eksternal yang memengaruhi pengembangan Pulau Nusa Penida. Hasil analisis menunjukkan ada empat set strategi alternatif yang dapat dirumuskan yaitu (1)meningkatkan promosi, (2)melakukan penataan dan mempertahankan kelestarian lingkungan, serta melibatkan masyarakat dalam pengembangan pariwisata, (3) mengembangkan daya tarik wisata yang lebih bervariasi serta mengembangkan fasilitas kepariwisataan dan fasilitas umum, (4) membentuk badan pengelola dan meningkatkan sumber daya manusia

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi yang dimiliki Desa Mengesta, dan strategi pengembangan potensi Desa Mengesta sebagai desa wisata berbasis ekowisata. Penelitian ini tergolong pada jenis penelitian deskriptif dan SWOT analysis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah potensi atraksi wisata alam yaitu areal persawahan dan perkebunan, sistem terasering persawahan, panorama alam pegunungan, sumber air panas dan spiritual; potensi social budaya yaitu berupa keragaman beragama dengan hadirnya 3 agama yaitu Hindu, Kristen Protestan dan Kristen Katolik. Strategi yang dapat dilakukan dalam pengembangan desa wisata melalui program-program antara lain: Pengembangkan dan Peningkatkan daya saing produk dan usaha pariwisata, Peningkatan pangsa pasar pariwisata melalui kegiatan promosi, Peningkatan Kerjasama / Sinergi Multi-Stakeholders Dalam Program Pengembangan Kepariwisataan Desa Mengesta, Pengembangan SDM dan Tenaga Pengelola Kepariwisataan, Peningkatan Pemberdayaan Dalam Keterlibatan Masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of the independent variables in this case brand of car for the average difference between the dependent variable, cash sales and credit sales. The method used in this study is the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The results achieved in this study is there is a difference in the Cash sales between car brands Ford and Nissan on Car Dealership in Bali which is seen from the figures significance is 0.005 <0.05, but no difference in credit sales between car brands Ford and Nissan on Car Dealership in Bali significance is seen from the figure 0.175>0.05. Thus the independent variables significantly influence brand only to dependent variable on cash sales, while the variables are not credit sales
