Abstract

Anemia causes learning achievement to decrease. Hematopoiesis requires macronutrients ound in red dragon fruit and red guava. Objective of research to determine differences in the effectiveness of administration of red guava juice and red dragon fruit juice on hemoglobin (Hb) levels in young women. This type of research is quasi-experimental research design with pre-test and post-test without control. The sampling technique uses probability sampling. Data analysis using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test. The mean Hb level of red guava juice group was pre test 13.18 gr / dL and post test 14.71 gr / dL with P value 0.000. The mean Hb levels of the red dragon fruit juice group were 13.13 gr / dL pre test and 15.41 gr / dL post test with. P Value 0,000. Red guava juice and red dragon fruit juice were equally effective in increasing Hb levels.

Abstract

Abstract

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is important for nurses when providing services to patients to avoid infectious diseases including COVID-19. However, continuous use of PPE can cause physiological problems such as headache, facial dermatitis, difficulty breathing, irritation, and discomfort. This study aims to determine various physiological disorders due to the use of PPE on nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic based on the results of a critical review of scientific articles. The search for scientific articles was carried out through the search engines Google Scholar, Pubmed, and EBSCO with the keywords personal protective equipment, physiological disorders, nurses, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The search is limited to 2020-2021, which is accessible in full text for free. The results of the literature study found 13 suitable articles. It is known that the use of PPE has effects such as headache, dermatitis, itching, rash, difficulty breathing, irritation, reactions to body skin tissue, acne and discomfort when used continuously for an indefinite period of time. It can be concluded that the use of PPE has a negative impact on the physiological condition of nurses if PPE is used continuously without regard to safety management in the use of PPE. Abstract

Background: Global pandemic of COVID-19 caused unprecedented effect in education sector due to the university closure and distance education, which could significantly affected students mental health and increased suicidality. Nursing students are vulnerable population due to already stressful academic activities coupled with pandemic loneliness and financial difficulties. Hopelessness, a negative view of the self in relation to the world and the future, identified as consistent predictor of suicidality. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of hopelessness among nursing students and association between sociodemographic characteristic and hopelessness. Methods: Online cross sectional study was conducted in Universitas Respati Yogyakarta between June until September 2020, and involved 232 nursing students that selected using consecutive sampling method. Sociodemographic questionnare and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) were used to collect the data. Chi square test was used to analyze association between sociodemographic characteristic and hopelessness. Result: Our study elucidated that the prevalence of hopelessness among nursing students at Universitas Respati Yogyakarta during the early phase of COVID-19 pandemic is 9.5%. Chi square test revealed that there is no significant association between any sociodemographic characteristic and hopelessness (p>0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of hopelessness among nursing students is low, and sociodemographic profiles is not determinant of hopelessness.

Abstract

Patients treated in ICU generally last for an extended period due to the severity of the patient’s suffering. One of the efforts made by nurses to improve the functional and hemodynamic status of patients is to mobilize. Progressive mobilization given to the patient is expected to cause an excellent hemodynamic response. In the upright sitting position, the performance of the lungs, both in the distribution of ventilation and perfusion, will improve during mobilization. This study contributed to knowing the effectiveness of progressive mobilization on hemodynamic status in bedridden patients in the ICU. The design used Pre-Experiment research with one group pre-test and post-test design. Thirty samples were selected in the ICU for 21 days. Data analysis used Paired T-Test analysis. There is an effect of progressive mobilization on the hemodynamic status of patients in ICU (pulse: p-value 0.000, respiratory rate p-value 0.000, systolic blood pressure p-value 0.000, diastolic blood pressure p-value 0.004, MAP p-value 0.000, and SaO2 p-value 0.000). There is an effect of progressive mobilization on the hemodynamic status of patients in the ICU. It is expected that nurses and physiotherapists in hospitals would continue to apply progressive march in an effort to overcome the problem of hemodynamic disorders in the ICU

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder which marked by the hyperglycemia that appeared because of insulin secretion disorder and/or the increase of cellular insulin resistance. DM patients have a higher risk to experience foot problems due to blood vessels disorders causing the circulation of blood from legs is decreased. Purposed this research is diabetes could be prevented by doing a foot spa diabetic which the activities include foot exercises, warm water cleansing and massage. The method used in this study is Quays Experiment pre-post control group design. The population on this study was patients with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 in Waru health center. The sample used was 60 people, divided into 2 groups; intervention and control group, with sampling technique of simple random sampling. The data collection was using observation sheets of diabetic foot SPA; the tool used to assess blood glucose levels was glucometer, whereas cotton, brush and needle were used to assess the foot sensitivity. The data was then analyzed with t-test. The result of the study showed that there were effecton the foot sensitivity (t=10,73, p value =0, 000) and there were effectdecrese on ankle brachial index(t=12,34, p value =0, 000). It is important for families and communities to give motivation to the diabetes mellitus patients to do diabetic foot SPA as one of alternative therapies to prevent foot complications such as foot ulcers and even amputation
