Abstract

Currently, the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is one method that can be applied and used to produce seeds of local rice species in highland areas. However, it can currently be seen that the traditional methods to transfer knowledge about SRI from the experts still have limitations in many aspects due to the number of farmers that have experienced success still being low. Some farmers do not have their own fields and it takes a period for farmers to test the rice growing. Currently, mobile devices are widely used in peoples’ lives. Many scholars focus on the application of mobile devices and the augmented reality (AR) technology for the simulation games in many issues while the use of AR-based mobile applications as the learning tools is not widespread. There-fore, in this study, we propose the development of an application on mobile devices with augmented reality technology in order to use it as media in sharing knowledge related to the methods of the System of Rice Intensification by virtual farms simulation. To examine the efficiency of this developed application. A total amount of participants were 512 farmers from 5 regions of Thailand. The experimental results demonstrated that the newly developed AR-based mobile application is effective for improved knowledge on the participants who used the developed application and it can help them to practice their SRI farming skill in the virtual farm simulation. This indicates that the developed AR-based mobile application is the benefits tool for the new knowledge transferring meth-od in the system of rice intensification. For future work, it is necessary to evaluate the farmer success after learning from this AR-based mobile application in order to study the impact of the new method of SRI knowledge transferring. Keywords—augmented reality, knowledge transferring, system of rice intensification.

Abstract

Residential high-rises are unique properties that differ from landed properties such as bungalows or terrace houses. They are unique insofar as, after the properties have been occupied, facilities must be jointly managed by residents. The continuous growth of high-rise residential buildings specifies that there is a need for effective ownership and property management system to instill a valuable living experience among high-rise residents in this country. Looking at this scenario, this research takes an initiative to develop a mobile application that supports streamline information with assistive features to improve communication and information sharing for high-rise residential management in Malaysia. This aim is achieved by answering three research objectives, including identifying user requirements, designing the application prototype and developing the artefact and evaluating the artefact. The study was conducted together with LT Sdn Bhd, the property management company responsible in managing and maintaining property related matters of Seroja Apartment. An adopted conceptual framework for property management based on the sustainable indicator dimensions for property management and applicable features from existing mobile application to develop the artefact has been proposed. The conceptual framework was proposed based on literature review and nature of work observed on site. Lastly, the study successfully validated the proposed adopted framework against the artefact, the MyLT mobile application.

Abstract

Clothing, food, and shelter are three basic types of needs in our lives. If one of the basic needs is not met then there can be an imbalance in our lives. One of the basic needs is to build a house. House needs a tile or roof to cover of a building that can protect all weather influences. One company in Majalengka only uses fleeting vision in inspection process. This can result in a decrease in work productivity. This paper proposed an approach machine learning model for classification of defects was carried out in the inspection process. Feature extraction was performed using the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) method to obtain training features. The next stage is training (training) to the characteristics of training that has been obtained. Furthermore, the database obtained from the training results will be used to classify tile image test data using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method. From the test results, the system is made capable of classifying defects of a maximum accuracy value of 63.21%. The results obtained are the best accuracy value generated is 76.67% with LBP parameters used are 256 × 256 cell size and radius 2. While for SVM parameters use Polynomial kernel type or RBF with OAA multiclass

Abstract

Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) Pakis Sabilulungan is a business entity that houses small, micro and medium-sized businesses located in Mekarsari Village, Pasirjambu, Bandung, Indonesia. At present, BUM Desa Pakis has begun to pioneer several businesses including the production of snacks, coffee, crafts, and clothing. But there are obstacles where marketing is still limited to one sub-district and income tends to stagnate. Therefore, we need an internet-based technology that is able to help marketing more broadly and more easily than the current situation. The proposed technology in BUM Desa Pakis is a web-based e-marketplace, where all business owners can sell goods on the same platform. In its development, the prototyping method was used. This is because BUM Desa needs a description of the application that will be used before further development. The results of the e-Marketplace development on BUM Desa show that the marketing process can be carried out faster, payments can be made through bank transfers and delivery can be done through expeditions. This is significantly able to expand product marketing from Mekarsari Village

Abstract

Yogyakarta has increasing trends in the number of vehicles and consequently intensifying the traffic volume and will effect to higher emission and air pollution. Traffic lights duration plays a vital role in congestion mitigation in the critical intersections of urban areas. This study has objective to minimize the number of vehicles waiting in line by developing the hybrid simulation method. First of all, the MKJI and Webster method were calculated to determine the green traffic light. Then, the simulation model was developed to evaluate the number of vehicles waiting in line according to different duration of green traffic lights from MKJI and Webster method. A case study will then be provided in Pelemgurih intersection located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for demonstrating the applicability of the developed method. The result shows that the duration of green traffic lights calculated by Webster method provides lower number of vehicles waiting in line. It is due to the short duration of green traffic light resulted by Webster method so that the traffic light cycle becomes shorter and it effects the number of vehicles waiting in line which is lower than MKJI method. The results obtained can help the generating desired decision alternatives that will important for Department of Transportation, Indonesia to enhance the road traffic management with low number of vehicles waiting in line.

Abstract

This research has its aim to study the effect of providing Government-Borne Import Duty facility on the growth and competitiveness of Indonesia's manufacturing industry. The growth of the manufacturing industry is identified with the growth of production, employment, and contribution to state income through taxes. The background of this research is the existence of government's need to find the effect of the provision of exemption from import duties that have been running since 2008 on the ability of companies to produce goods in order to meet consumer needs, competitiveness, employment, and their contribution to state income. The survey was conducted on 110 companies that use this facility in Indonesia. The research applied the statistical method of sign and percentage test with the unit of analysis at the company and target sector, and groups of companies that receive GBID facility with different frequencies. The results show that the provision of the facility significantly increase the growth and competitiveness of Indonesia's manufacturing industry, especially in production growth, the competitiveness of production costs, sales growth, profits, and company productivity. This facility has different effects on companies under different target sectors. More companies under the guidance of Directorate General of MMTEI experinence innovation raising, time-to-market competitiveness, and machine modernization after being given this facility, while more companies under the guidance of Directorate General of CTMI experience production growth, competitiveness raising in production costs, quality, delivery time, sales growth, productivity, human capital, absorption of production labor, and tax payments. The reason related to this case is the existence of difference in production, product standardization, product cycle times, and technological intensity. The results also show that the difference in frequency of facilitation given only affect in rising the competitiveness of the company's products’ price. Related to the nature of production, GBID facility is more suitable to be given to companies that have production plans rather than companies that only do the task based on project or job orders. It is because the companies that have production plan could do the job with more optimal results than those who don’t.
