Abstract

One of the main subjects that students must study in their chosen field is English. English for specific purposes (ESP) is the ability to speak English suitable for a specific purpose. Writing is one of the skills whose performance is less than optimal for students in the Informatics Engineering study program. In an era where digital technology has become an important consumption and need for society, social media has become one of the things that young people really like. Therefore, this research uses social media, especially Instagram, as a teaching tool and can motivate students to learn English. Data collection techniques include written results, pre and post tests, as well as observation and documentation. To determine the effectiveness of Instagram social media as a learning tool, it will be evaluated based on the results of a student questionnaire. The sample for this research was 30 IT students. The steps in the data collection process in this research include, for example. (1) observation of the research object, (2) socialization stage to students about learning through social media, especially Instagram, (3), implementation of this research, in this phase students receive material at the beginning where they not only get the material, but also must look for other supporting materials and discuss and receive suggestions and comments from lecturers and friends, (4) The final stage is the introduction stage of using Instagram as a means of discussion and debate. as a place to publish student work.

Abstract

In the 21st century, almost all aspects of education require thinking skills, especially critical and creative thinking. However, up till now students still find it difficult to achieve good critical and creative thinking skills because of the lack of encouragement to improve these skills during the learning process in the classroom. There are many learning models being developed. One of them is problem posing. This study aims to describe student activities in the problem posing model, the indicators used to identify critical and creative thinking skills, and why problem posing can improve students' thinking skills. After conducting a literature review, theoretically problem posing can help students to improve their critical and creative thinking skills through a series of stages in the problem posing model.

Abstract

This research was moved by the lack of learning tools that suit students' needs and the low problem solving abilities of students in linear equation systems material. This is the main justification behind the need to develop a teaching module for systems of linear equations that is related to problem solving abilities. This research aims to determine the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the teaching modules developed. This research was carried out in class A-1 of the Nusantara Islamic University Mathematics Education Study Program for the 2022/2023 academic year. This study expects to decide the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the created educating modules. This examination technique is called plan research with the Plomp model. The information sources in this study are expert validators and students. The data collection instruments used were expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaire sheets, and formative assessment sheets consisting of problem-solving ability tests, affective questionnaires, observations in the affective domain and the psychomotor domain. This information is analysed using percentages outlined based on qualifications. Based on the tests carried out, it can be concluded that the teaching module developed is valid, practical and very effective.

Abstract

The Malay people of North Kayong Regency have traditional preserved foods that have been passed down from generation to generation. Preserved traditional food is a local potential that can be used as a learning resource for meaningful learning. This research aims to analyse the potential of traditional foods used as biology learning resources. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with an exploratory method. Data collection were from observation, identification, direct communication, indirect communication and documentation techniques. The results of the research showed that there were 19 types of preserved traditional food from the Malay tribe of North Kayong Regency, namely dried bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots, dodol pumpkin, lempok durian, tempoyak, cengkarok tape, coconut mesekat, smoked fish, salted fish, pedak bloat, anchovies, amplang, shrimp. dried, cencalok, Belacan, Pekasam Pempapahat, Pekasam clams, and dried squid. The results of the identification showed that the types of plants and animals that were processed into traditional preserved foods include: bamboo, peringgi pumpkin, durian, cassava, black sticky rice, coconut, mackerel fish, sengat fish, durian fish, gelame fish, pempirang fish, mackerel fish , mayung fish, stingrays, sungkur shrimp, scallops, clams, squid and anchovies. The potential of preserved traditional food was in accordance with biology learning material on the classification of living things, addictive substances, biodiversity and biotechnology. It was concluded that the preserved traditional food of the Malay Tribe of North Kayong Regency had the potential as a biology learning resource of 93.2% (very good category).

Abstract

Technology is evolving rapidly, affecting education. One of the current impacts is the availability of audio-visual videos as learning tools to enhance student engagement. This research aims to investigate the influence of audio-visual video media on students' learning motivation. This study builds upon previous research that revealed low student motivation in learning and confirmed low interest among the students in the researcher's environment. This research was conducted in February 2023, involving a sample of 20 fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Condong Catur in Yogyakarta. The researcher collaborated with the homeroom teacher, observed classroom activities, and administered post-lesson comprehension tests. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection through observations, assessments of student comprehension, and documentation. The research findings demonstrate a positive and significant impact of audio-visual video media on enhancing students' learning motivation.

Abstract

A decision-making process of vocational high schools in improving the quality of competitive graduates with the aim of solving problems that occur at school so that it is necessary to have the accurate model so that decisions can be accepted and can run well, the purpose of this study is specifically to discuss and gain new knowledge and discoveries to create a chart model of the decision-making process in improving the quality of the competitive graduates in Vocational High Schools, The method in this study is descriptive methods with a Qualitative approach to provide a systematic, factual and accurate description of the facts of the object of research, The research was conducted in four (4) months at Bistek Vocational High School (Business and Technology) Bekasi, the research activities were carried out in three stages including the preparation stage, the research implementation stage and the final stage of preparing the research report, The results of this study were the decision-making process carried out by SWOT analysis, the decision-making process had five appropriate steps, the decision-making process with a rational model by considering aspects that had a positive or negative impact based on a system of ethical values by prioritizing honesty, responsibility, good faith, respect and humility, harmony and tolerance as well. Patience and sincerity to forgive each other, which was realized in the pattern of relationships or relationships between patience and forgiveness of conditions that can be done through patience and sincerity to forgive each other, all components of the school environment.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to determine the differences in implementation of the 2013 Curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum, obstacles to curriculum implementation, and the effectiveness of the 2013 Curriculum and the Independent Curriculum on learning in primary schools. This research used descriptive qualitative methods, the research subjects were the principal, grade 4 and 5 teachers and grade 4 and 5 students of UPT SD Negeri 29 Gresik. Data collection instruments used in-depth interviews and observation. The data in this research was in the form of sentences which will be analysed in depth. Research data collection was carried out in June 2023. Research procedures were carried out in stages, namely (1) the planning stage including a survey of curriculum use on research subjects, (2) the preparation stage by preparing the instruments that will be used to collect data and preparing data sources, (3) implementation stage and (4) reporting stage. The results of the research demonstrates that the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum is not optimal, because several obstacles have not been resolved, while the Independent Curriculum has the potential to provide a better learning experience and focuses on the characteristics of students.

Abstract

The inquiry learning process can train students to develop knowledge, skills, and practices. The problem in inquiry-based learning lies in the challenges of developing the knowledge, skills, and practices required by students. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of geographical inquiry in terms of critical thinking skills, learning achievement, and self-efficacy. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a population of tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Ambon City, with the research conduction was in March 2023. The sample class was selected using purposive sampling with instruments consisting of tests and questionnaires analysed using the independent t-test. The research results indicate that the significance value of the t-test for critical thinking skills, learning achievement, and geography students' self-efficacy is less than 0.05, thus rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho). Therefore, the Geographical Inquiry learning method is effective for use in school-based learning.

Abstract

This research was conducted because it was still found that learning tends to be boring, which has an impact on student motivation and learning outcomes in Civics learning content in elementary schools. The lack of optimal use of innovative learning tools is one of the contributing factors. For this reason, the application of interactive media and LKPD based on live worksheets is the best solution. This research aims to determine the improvement in Civics learning outcomes in the form of insight into students' social and cultural diversity through the application of interactive PowerPoint learning media assisted by LKPD live worksheets. The research subjects were 20 fifth grade students at State Elementary School 59, East City, Gorontalo City. Data was collected using the essay test method. The results of the research show that there is an increase in insight into socio-cultural diversity as a result of civics learning in class V students. This can be seen in student learning results in initial observations with an average score of 69 and learning completeness of 40%. The learning outcomes in cycle I were an average of 72 and learning completeness was 65%. In cycle II the average was 81 and learning completeness was 90%. This research found that the application of innovative learning tools in the form of interactive learning media assisted by LKPD live worksheets can have a direct impact on the content of Civics learning in the form of learning outcomes and has implications for accompanying impacts that can foster student independence, interest and involvement in learning.

Abstract

The problem of decreasing interest in learning students in Medan is a problem that often occurs at various levels of education; therefore, efforts must be made to find out the cause of the problem. Thus, this study aims to reveal the problem of decreasing interest in learning students at SMPS Al-Washliyah 27 Amplas. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study approach. Data collections of this study are observation, interview, and documentation study techniques with Miles and Huberman analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research was conducted on 17 October–20 October 2022. The subjects of the study were students and teachers at SMPS Al-Washliyah 27 Amplas. The results revealed that the problem of decreasing interest in learning students at SMPS Al-Washliyah 27 Amplas became a high category of problems caused by 2 factors, namely internal and external which caused students and educators to have difficulty overcoming them. However, educators still try to overcome the problem of decreasing demand for learning by implementing good learning strategies. However, the efforts that have been made lack of support from students, the environment, and other related parties have caused difficulties in overcoming the problem of decreasing interest in learning students.
