Abstract

Backgraund: Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Distress are global problems that were interconnected. Someone who was diagnosed with DM, will be placed in a stress condition because the patient feels difficult with the many demands for self-care with DM. Objective: This study aims to explore the experience and understanding of diabetes, feelings after being diagnosed with diabetes, efforts made when facing difficulties. Methods: This research is a qualitative study. We used semi-structured interviews. This report was written following COREQ guidelines. Thematic analysis was applied to analyze the data. Results: there were four themes; 1) understanding the right DM is important to provide adequate understanding so that diabetes self-care activities can be carried out correctly, 2) attitude and behavior as well as inaccurate information can trigger situations that are threatening to cause severe diabetes, 3) the right efforts to deal with threatening situations can prevent the occurrence of severe diabetes, and 4) the role and support of others to help solve problems effectively as expected. Conclution: The perception and experience of patients living with diabetes mellitus is to assume that DM is a diabetes disease that is difficult to cure. Abstract

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing every year and is a trigger for psychosocial problems such as depression. Depression further worsens the condition of uncontrolled blood sugar and prolongs the healing time of wounds caused by DM. So that the coping strategies used by sufferers must be fast and precise so that depression can be controlled and finally blood sugar is controlled and wound healing becomes faster. The research focuses on a new mobile application in the form of the SIKOPING digital application (coping strategy system) as a guide for DM sufferers in reducing depression that occurs due to DM disease. The results of the research are in the form of digital media, a guide to coping strategies to reduce depression in DM sufferers. The study aimed to find out whether the use of the SIKOPING digital application has any influence in using the right coping strategy and reducing depression in DM sufferers. The research method uses a Quasi Experiment design with a pre-post test approach without a control group. The data normality test with Shapiro Wilk obtained a significance value of <0.05, which means that the data is not normally distributed, so the statistical test uses the Wilcoxon test. Number of respondents: The research obtained 43 respondents. The results of the study obtained a p-value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is an influence between the application of coping strategies using the SIKOPING application on the decrease in the level of depression in DM sufferers

Abstract

The White Cross Christian Social Foundation of Salatiga City, Central Java has nursing home and orphanage services. The existence of elderly people and teenagers in the same place of residence still creates a distance in their interaction relationship. Elderly people who are lonely because they are far from their families and teenagers who have lost their parental figures. This research aims to explore the social interactions of elderly and teenagers at the White Cross Social Foundation, Salatiga City. This research was conducted using qualitative methods. The criteria for participants are the elderly and teenagers. The number of participants until data saturation occurred was three elderly and three teenagers. Data collection techniques using semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis. Researchers got two themes. First, the perception between the elderly and teenagers regarding generational differences. Second, home activities for the elderly and teenagers. The conclusion from the research results is that the elderly and teenagers come from different generations, so the characters and viewpoints of these two generations are different. The themes obtained need to get the attention of all parties so that social interaction between the two generations becomes more intense because it is part of holistic care that is beneficial for the elderly and teenagers.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a disease indicated by high blood glucose. This disease is a chronic disease that an individual suffers in his or her life. The psychological changes, such as stress suffered by Diabetes Mellitus type-2 patients could influence their blood glucose content instability. Thus, the patients require adaptive coping mechanisms to manage and adapt the stress. One of the influential factors of individual coping mechanisms is social support from family, friends, and significant other. This research examined the correlation between social support and individual coping mechanism of diabetes mellitus type-2 patients. This cross-sectional research applied consecutive sampling on 63 respondents suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 in Gunungpati health care center. The researchers took the data with the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and Cope Inventory. The Pearson Product Moment obtained a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) with an r-value of 0.430, indicating a significant, strong, and positive correlation between social support with individual coping mechanisms in diabetes mellitus type-2 patients. This result suggested high social support led to high individual adaptive coping mechanisms. The researchers recommended nurses educate the families, friends, and close friends of diabetes mellitus type-2 patients so they could provide social support. This effort could realize adaptive coping mechanisms

Abstract

Excessive use of online games has an impact on adolescent mental health. The use of online games has an impact on physical and mental health. Especially in mental health, adolescents experience thought disorders, anxiety, behavioral disorders such as irritability, anti-social and depression. Teenagers in Tambakharjo Village have a habit of playing online games such as Mobile Legend and Free Fire. Complaints felt by adolescents are not concentrating on studying and working, irritability, lack of sleep and anxiety if they lose at play. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the use of online games and emotional mental disorders in adolescents in Tambakharjo Village, Semarang City.The number of samples in this study were 35 which met the inclusion criteria. The type of research used in this research is cross-sectional quantitative method which aims to analyze the relationship between the two independent variables and the dependent variable. The research instrument used was a questionnaire on the use of online games and emotional mental disorders which had been valid and reliable by previous researchers. The bivariate analysis test used was rank spearmen.The characteristics of the respondents in this study were the majority of men 65.7%, middle adolescent age (14-16) 45.7%, and status as a student 77.1%. The use of online games includes a frequent rate of 48.6%, the majority of mental health have emotional mental disorders of 60%. Spearmen's rank test showed a p-value of 0.00 (<0.05) with an rho of 0.607. There is a relationship between the use of online games and adolescent mental health in the Tambakharjo Village.
