Abstract

Efforts to prevent anemia in adolescents through the supplementation of Blood Additive Tablets in adolescent girls is a very strategic, specific intervention to prepare healthy prospective mothers. The aim was to know the effect of giving blood supplement tablets on the hemoglobin levels of female high school students in Ternate City 5. The design was Quasi Experimental with a One Group Posttest. The samples were female students aged 15-18 years at SMA 5 Ternate with a total of 106 samples taken using the Slovin formula. The research instrument consists of an explanation sheet, a letter of consent, general questionnaire, screening questionnaire, hemoglobin examination tool. All independent variables in the form of categorical data were analyzed for influence using the Paire sample T-test. Before being given blood supplement tablets, only 26 respondents (25%) had normal hemoglobin levels. After being given blood supplement tablets, the respondents' normal hemoglobin levels increased, 78 people (74%). The P value is 0.008 < 0.05, indicating that there is an influence between before and after hemoglobin levels using blood supplement tablets. The results obtained indicate that administering blood supplement tablets can increase hemoglobin levels in research subjects. In conclusion, giving blood supplement tablets can help increase hemoglobin levels in SMA 5 Ternate students. Therefore, there needs to be cooperation between schools, local governments and parents to prevent health problems such as anemia in young women.

Abstract

Inorganic phosphate compounds (P2O4) can cause acute poisoning if inhaled in large quantities. The aim was to remove inorganic phosphate compounds (P2O4) from laundry wastewater. This research was carried out in the Poltekkes Surabaya laboratory in January 2024. This research was pure experiment. The tools used was an MBBR reactor, with a capacity of 1 M3/day with inlet-outlet pipes, sample port, mud disposal pipe. Monitoring parameters are temperature, pH, ORP, COD, total N and P2O4. Biomass analysis of the biofilm media was carried out gravimetically. The waste water used comes from household laundry. The findings showed that the reduction in MBBR organic compounds in the system was around 63-78%, while in the denitrification process was 48-52%. The average concentration of organic substances taken at the outlet was less than 100 mg/L, the decrease in total N concentration was around 43-55%, the P2O4 concentration taken at outlet was 0.78-0.86 mg/L. The average reduction in P2O4 was 19%, while the average reduction in the denitrification process was 55%. In conclusion, the use of the MBBR system can be effective in processing organic compounds and reducing the concentration of Total N and P2O4 in wastewater. Suggestions for further research are to be able to utilize the MBBR system for a longer period of time so that we can see the saturation point of the tool in treating waste water.

Abstract

Fisheries production in Indonesia will reach 24.74 million tonnes in 2023 and will increase compared to 2022 which was only 22.26 million tonnes. Increased production is in line with increased consumption which cannot be separated from food safety problems, especially the problem of heavy metal contamination originating from domestic waste and factory waste. The purpose of this review article is to provide information for knowledge and awareness to the public regarding the fish they consume. This review was carried out using searches via Google Scholar and Researchgate published in the last 10 years (2014-2024). The total articles used were 11 scientific articles. The research results show that there is heavy metal contamination such as lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, copper, manganese, chrome, cobalt, argentum, zinc and tin at different levels in each location. The most heavy metal contamination is lead (Pb) with the highest level of 4,242 mg/kg in tilapia fish in the Tenggang River, Semarang at the location of the first testing station, namely the upstream area with coordinates 6°57'49.8"S and 110° 27’04.6”E. In conclusion, the pollution is thought to be due to contamination of the environment because there is a Small Industrial Environment (LIK) and a lot of rubbish is drifting along the river. The suggestion is that it is necessary to enforce waste management regulations and effective supervision for the sake of public health and environmental safety, especially regarding industrial waste.

Abstract

Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye used in the paper and textile industries, attracting attention due to its potential health hazards. It is used in various cosmetic products, although the Regulation of the Minister of Health of Indonesia No. 445/MENKES/PER/V/1998 prohibits its use in cosmetics due to risks of irritation, liver damage, and cancer. This article reviews the parameters of analytical methods for identifying Rhodamine B in lipstick. A narrative review was conducted using Google Scholar as a database over the past 10 years. The KLT method was found to be more widely used than HPLC or UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. Differences in Rf values in KLT are due to variations in the stationary phase. Parameter variations in HPLC system suitability tests are caused by operational conditions, sample conditions, and instrument performance. Analytical methods for identifying Rhodamine B in lipstick include KLT, HPLC/KCKT, and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. It is concluded that each method has specific parameters that must be met: KLT is qualified if the Rf value comparison (standard vs. sample) is ≤ 0.2; HPLC/KCKT requires system suitability and validation tests; UV-Vis Spectrophotometry needs validation test parameters. KLT is preferred due to easy sample preparation and lower costs compared to HPLC and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. It is recommended to consider necessary components when using these methods to maximize test results.
