Abstract

The goal of the research to describe of development of card media with scientificapproach on mathematics lesson, and show the practical and effectivity of cardmedia with scientific approach. The research's model use Borg and Gall model.The steps of the research are : analyze of potential and problem, the collect ofdata, product design, design validation and revision of design. Trying of test wasconducted to know the effectivity of card media. The instrument use observationsheet, questionnaire, and observation sheet of test's trying. The design of validation'sresult show that media is valid and it can apply on the teaching learning. Theresult of test's trying show that card media is practical to use as mathematicslearning's media. Beside that, the student classical of total's percentage after do thetest show that media is effective to use as teaching learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills ofhomeschooling students in solving mathematical problems. The type ofthis research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Subjects inthis study were six students homeschooling is equivalent to junior highschool students class IX. Data were obtained through tests and interviews.Test are identified and described in accordance with the achievement ofstudents towards critical thinking indicators used in this research thatclarification, assessment, strategy/ tactics, and inference. The results of theinterviews are used to further strengthen the data on homeschoolingstudents' critical thinking skills. The results showed that onehomeschooling student is in the category of less critical, four students areon quite critical category and only one student in a critical category.This suggests that homeschooling students' critical thinking skills arelow. Low critical thinking skills are affected by limitations homeschoolingstudent learning of mathematics is done, students 'mathematical ability andmathematical learning processes that do not yet geared to developinghomeschooling students' critical thinking skills. So that based on the resultsof this study are advised to make the learning process of mathematics todevelop homeschooling students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical communication skillsboth oral and written. The communication ability is observed through theapplication of cooperative learning model type TGT for set theory. Theresearch design was qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the study were 17students of class VII-B. The learning material were lesson plan,discussion group, game group, worksheet, game question, and written test.The research instruments were observation sheet of teacher activity, writtenand oral mathematical communication ability. The results of the study at thefirst meeting showed that the ability of oral mathematical communication hadsufficient category and written had low category. The second meeting of oralmathematical communication skills had sufficient category and written wasbetter than before. Oral mathematical communication improved at the thirdmeeting, while written in the low category. The fourth meeting was increasedin the ability of oral and written mathematical communication, for high oralmathematical communication and written with high category as well. Thestudents' mathematical communication skills from the first to fourthmeetings had increased. The average overall ability of oral and writtenmathematical communication was sufficient

Abstract

This study aims to describe student’s mathematical problemsolving abilities with high, medium, and low emotional intelligence. Thetype of this research is descriptive with qualitative-quantitative approach.Subjects in this study were students of Class VII of SMPN 3 Maron whichamounted to 9 students. Data Obtained through questionnaires, tests, andinterviews. Data analysis techniques used are Likert scale, average andpercentage. The results showed the ability to solve mathematical problemsbased on the stages of Newman items, namely: students with high levels ofemotional intelligence: (1) reading the problem, determining keywords, (2)understanding the problem, determining sufficient conditions, necessaryterms and change the problem into the mathematical sentence, (3) theproblem of transformation, determining relevant strategy, (4) process skills,executing strategy, (5) writing the answer, finding the answer and conclusion.Students with moderate emotional intelligence: (1) reading the problem,hesitating to determine keywords, (2) understanding the problem, beingable to determine sufficient conditions and necessary conditions but cannotchange the problem into mathematical sentences, (3) the problem oftransformation, relevant strategies, (4) process skills, being able to executethe strategy but less accurate on the calculation process, (5) writing answers,answers and conclusions are less precise. Students with low emotionalintelligence: (1) reading problems, not being able to determine keywords, (2)understanding the problem, being able to determine sufficient terms andconditions necessary but not yet able to change the problem intomathematical sentences, (3) transformation problem, less relevant, (4)process skills, many errors in the calculation process and did not completeuntil the final stage, (5) writing answers, have not found answers andconclusions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of response, the level of motivation,student learning outcomes and learning process using Problem Based Learningon learning mathematics. This research is descriptive research where there isno manipulation only to describe and to analyze the data obtained. Thisresearch uses quantitative research methods with the subjects of the studywhich amounted to 33 people. Data collection techniques used includequestionnaires, observations, interviews and tests. Data analysis used in thisresearch is qualitative analysis technique and quantitative analysis. The resultof the research indicates that the students response level to Problem BasedLearning is high with the percentage of achievement of 72.02% and thestudents' motivation level with the percentage of achievement of 70.05%.Student learning outcomes obtained using Problem Based Learning are quitesatisfactory. With the percentage of achievement level reached 75.75%. Withthe Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM) score at the school is 75, so thatall students meet the given KKM.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the students’ mathematicalcommunication in junior high school verbally as well as written by means theapproach of SAVI. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptiveresearch type. The subjects of this study totally 31 students of junior highschool on a class VIII, while the object is the students’ mathematicalcommunication, verbal as well as written using the approach of SAVI. Theinstrument used in this study are observation and test sheets. The data will beanalyzed using three plots, namely: data reduction, data presentations andsummarizing. The result of this study shows that students’ verbalcommunication in mathematics by means the approach of SAVI is in goodcategory. Students can finely declare the examples, explain mathematicsrepresentations, give questions and answers, declare the situation of aproblem in mathematical model, discuss a problem, conclude the result ofthe discussion and make summary related to the subject. The writtenmathematical communication of students is also in good category. Studentscan do well in writing mathematical ideas and representations, findingimportant points, rewriting the test in mathematical model, finishing theproblem and wraiting the summary related to the subject.

Abstract

The research is a class action (Classroom Action Research). The aim of this research is to determine whether learning result can improve through learning mathematics Peer Teaching Method of factorization algebra material of students in class VIII3 at SMP Negeri 5 Parepare. The method of the researcher was Peer Teaching Method (a teaching method their peers in small groups). The subject of research is the students of VIII3 class at SMP Negeri 5 Parepare that is consisted of 18 students. The implementation of this research consisted of two cycles in each cycle consisting of four stages, such as: (a) planning stage, (b) action stage, (c), observation stage, (d) reflection stage. The collecting data analyzed by quantitative and qualitative analysis. The conclusion is the result of mathematic learning can improve through peer teaching method of the students VIII3 class at SMP NEGERI 5 PAREPARE.

Abstract

This research was a classroom action research including planning,implementation, observation, and reflection phase which were implementedin SMA Negeri 4 Parepare which aimed to improve mathematics learningresult through the implementation of learning method of smart teachingrecollection utilizing students‘ unconsciousness in learning process. Subjectsin this study were students class XI IPS1 SMA Negeri 4 Parepare 2016/2017academic year which amounted to 26 students. The research was conductedin 2 cycles, each of cycle was conducted in 4 meetings and carried out thefinal test of it.The data were collected by using observation and learningresult test. The data collected were analyzed by using descriptive statistic.The result of the research showed that the result of mathematics learning ofstudents class XI IPS1 of SMA Negeri 4 Parepare increased from cycle I tocycle II through the implementation of learning method of smart teachingrecollection. This could be seen from (a) the learning results in cycle I, thenumber of students who completed were only 9 students with an averagescore of 64.31 and in cycle II increased to 23 students with an average scoreof 78.27. (b) the increasing percentage of students‘ mathematics learningachievement was 34.6% in the first cycle increased to 88.5% in cycle II. (c)the average increase in the learning activities of the students from cycle I tocycle II. From the results of this research could be concluded that there wasan improvement of students‘ mathematics learning results of class XI IPS1at SMA Negeri 4 Parepare by implementing the teaching method ofrecollection smart teaching.

Abstract

The Course of Mathematics Elementary School is a course intended toprepare university students to become a math teacher in elementary school.The material in Mathematics Study of Elementary School is Integer andFractional. This case study get in Institute of Teacher Education andEducational Science of Budi Utomo Malang. The author teach this materialwith the Conceptual Change Model. Next we want to know the factors thataffect Conceptual Change Model. The sample was taken from 45 students ofMathematics Education and obtained the conclusion of Process ofconceptual changes variable, Cognitive Conflict and Knowledge of the pasthave significant effect on CCM success in elementary mathematics study, itis proved from the value of p value of the three consecutive variables (0.00;0.001 ; 0.034) these three values are <0.05 (5% error rate / alpha).

Abstract

Performance assessment needs to understand and implement by teachers sothat the teachers can assess the skills aspects of their studentswell. However, some teachers have difficulties in implementingperformance assessment includes mathematic teachers at MTs Al MustaqimParepare. The purpose of this research is to describe the difficulties ofimplementing performance assessment on understanding aspects ofmathematic teachers at MTs Al Mustaqim Parepare. This research wasqualitative research. The subjects of the study were two mathematic teachersof MTs Al-Mustaqim Parepare here in after called subject 1 (H) and subject2 (N). The focus of the research is to describe the difficulties teachers usingthe performance assessment on aspects of teachers' understanding ofmathematic. For revealing the research data, this conducts tests andinterviews to the subject of research. The data of research is validated bydoing triangulation method. The Research of data is analyzed by (a)studying the subject data and comparing data to obtain for valid data, (b)reducing data by creating abstractions, (c) classifying and identifying thedata to draw conclusions from the data. The result research shows thatthe difficulties for teachers, it is for understanding aspect about theassessment performance. For instance, (a) the subject 1 (H) was difficult inunderstanding about the concept of assessment, (b) the subject 1 (H) wasdifficult in understanding the assessment techniques so that it can beimplemented, (c) subject 1 (H) was difficult in understanding the types ofassessment rubrics, and (d) subject 2 (N) was difficult in understanding theconcept of assessment.
