Abstract

The purpose of this research are (1) describe  the users perception of the services which provided at Bung Hatta Proclamator’s Library, (2) describe the factors that influence visitor’s perception, in order to create a good perception of the librarian’s service at Bung Hatta Proclamator’s Library. The data were taken by using a Likert scale and conducted by using questionnaire and interviewing, so that the conclusions are correct. The sources of research data was taken from visitors who visit the library by spoken and written method. It was collected by informants as the original speakers. The result of the research is the perception about a good library service, so that the users are happy to come to the library. Keywords: perception; library services

Abstract

This article discusses the use of public collections by the visitors in the Office of Libraries, Archives, and Documentation South Coastal District. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews with librarians who are willing to respond. Analyzing data descriptively and with a literature study related to the discussion in the research. Based on analyzing the data, it can be concluded that the use of the general collection by the visitors in the Office of Libraries, Archives, and Documentation South Coastal District has not been evenly distributed. General collection of the most frequently used is the type collection of the novel (800). In the utilization of the visitors can find a collection of collections needed to support catalog card catalog card yet available in the Office of Libraries, Archives, and Documentation South Coastal District is not in accordance with the collection available on the shelves. This resulted in the visitors have to find a collection one by one on the shelves and will spend a lot of time user library. Keywords: utilization; general collection; the visitors;  the library

Abstract

This paper discussed about Utilization Service American Corner at Andalas University Library. The utilization of services at the American Corner Library Andalas University. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Data were collected through observation and interviews as well as the spaciousness of literary study using books and reading are considered related to the discuss in the paper. Based on the results of the discussion in the American Corner at Andalas University Library Unit, it can be concluded that there are services and utilization at the American. The American Corner services include: 1) Service Voluntter; 2) Collection Services; 3) Service Activities and Events; 4) Multimedia Services, and the utilization of American Corner, namely: 1) to take advantage of the Internet network; 2) to learn English; 3) to take advantage of the collection comes straight from America. Keyword: American Corner, American corner’s Service

Abstract

Abstract  This article is about making index with annotation an articles on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak” at Singgalang newspaper 2017. The method used is descriptive method which is described what they are. The data has been collected through direct observation at Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat. The purpose of this article are: (1) to describe making index with annotation an articles on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak” at Singgalang newspaper; (2) to describe obstacle and solution of making index with annotation on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak” at Singgalang newspaper 2017. Based on the process of making index with annotation which got an articles at Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat there are 47 articles on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak”. All article has been copied and making a clipping in paper. The composing index with annotation an articles on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak” at Singgalang newspaper has some process. First make certain about newspaper that would like to choose and this article writer choosed Singgalang newspaper; second making clipping all articles on the rubric of “Minang Saisuak”; composing of index; ordinance of author all articles; ordinance of title all articles; making annotation all articles; and act of determining of keyword.Keywords: index; articels; Minangkabau

Abstract

The purpose of this study was: (1) to explain the stages of the process of using the software in the Library Athenaeum Light 8.5 Padang and Industrial Technology Academy and identify the factors that need to be consideration in using the software in the Library Athenaeum Light 8.5 Padang Industrial Technology Academy. Data were collected by means of observation in Padang Industrial Technology Academy Library. Data analysis was done descriptively. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the first, the application of library automation is very important because it makes it easy for pemustaka to be used as a search tool and accelerate the work of librarians. Activities using the library automation software in the Library Athenaeum Light 8.5 Padang Industrial Technology Academic namely: (1) management members, (2) circulation, which consists of: (a) borrowing, (b) refund; (c) extension, (3) cataloging , (4) processing, which consists of: (a) collection of data input, b) labeling); 5) search, which consists of: (a) fast find; (b) easy find; (b) detail find; (6) report. Second, the factors that needs to dipertimbangankan in using the software in the Library Athenaeum Light 8.5 Padang Industrial Technology Academy, among others: (1) the availability of human resources, (2) the availability of facilities, (3) availability of computer networks. Abstract

The purposes of this article are to describe: (1) librarian effort to increase the reading interest of children in Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat; (2) the problem faced by librarian to increase the reading interest of children in Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Data were collected by interview wiht the officer of Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat and observation. Based on this research, there are some summary. They are: (1) librarian effort to increase the reading interest of children in Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat were, provide facilities and infrastructure, periodically updating collections of books, provide special services for children, cozy room design, cooperation with schools, add librarian that work in children service; (2) the problem faced by librarian to increase the reading interest of children in Badan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat were, table and chair are limited, children playground is not yet available, lack atention of children to reading, activity room children inadequate, room paint colour does not interesting, lack of librarian on children’s service.Keywords: Kata kunci: Effort, problem, interest, reading

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine how the perception of liustors to the attitude of librarians in providing services in the Library Service and Library Archives South Coast District. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to library visitors. Samples taken as many as 41 respondents. The result of questionnaire was prepared by recapitulation of research result. Based on the results of the study concluded as follows: 1) In the process of membership registration, as many as 69% agreed about the fast in the process of registration 2) In the circulation process there, as many as 80% agreed about easy in doing the circulation . 3) In the librarian's attitude to give service 58% states do not agree mengalam librarian assist in the process of searching collection at Department Archives and Library of Pesisir Selatan Regency.Keywords: attitude, librarian, perception, reader.

Abstract

AbstractThis paper discusses the creation of a cultural literacy information package at Kampung Batu Fisheries Village, Batang Arau, Padang Selatan, Padang City. The purpose of this paper is to describe the process of creating a Cultural Literacy Information Package at Kampung Batu Fisheries Village, Batang Arau, Padang Selatan, Padang City. This research uses a descriptive method. Data was collected through literature review and direct observation and interviews with the Chairperson of RW, Fishermen and Community Leaders at Kampung Batu Fisheries Village, located in RW II, Batang Arau Sub-District, Padang Selatan District, Padang City. The information package is made through five stages. (1) Determining topics and types of packaging information packages, the topics raised were Cultural Literacy at Kampung Batu Fisheries Village, Batang Arau, Padang Selatan, Kota Padang; (2) Collection of information carried out by means of literature searches and interviews and direct observations to Kampung Batu Fisheries Village; (3) Analysis of the results of information gathering, it is known that things considered important as builders of the cultural identity of fishing communities such as gender systems, patron-client relations, patterns of resource exploitation, and social leadership; (4) Information packaging, carried out by presenting information that has been obtained from the collection of information in the form of information packages; (5) Evaluation of information packages carried out by submitting questionnaires to respondents and note that 92.4% of respondents strongly agree that information packages on cultural literacy are interesting, are informative and have use values.Keywords: information package; cultural literacy; fisherman

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how to process of management traveling library of Rumah Zakat Padang and describe any obstaoles the management of traveling library Rumah Zakat, Padang. This research method is descriptive. Data was collected through interviews with librarians of Rumah Zakat, Padang. after the data obtained through observation, then made ​​the key points that will include in this paper. Based discussion can be concluded that: (1) bookmobile Rumah Zakat of Padang through the planning process include; material information, funds human resource , funds, systems and equipment, (2) the constraints that will be faced by the mobile library in the rumah zakat field is human resources and budget funding, the government should support programs carried out by the charity bookmobile Rumah Zakat of Padang that educational equity to all walks of life in the desert city Keyword: bookmobile; management library

Abstract

This article aims to describe the utilization of the public reading for the society as a source og learning at public reading Tanah Ombak in Purus III Padang, described the obstacles faced by the public reading in the use of public reading as learning resources and describe the efforts made by public reading in the utilization of public reading as learning resources. The data collected through observation, interviews, and video recordings. Analysis of data by a descriptive. Based on the result of research it was concluded things are follows as. First, the utilization of public reading for the Tanah Ombak in the Purus of Padang, the availability of a collection, location, promotional, educational activities, cooperation, and the skill of librarian. Second, obstacles faced by public reading which was hard to get a varied collection of children’s book, the promotion of public reading only with the scope of a small lack of volunteers or the teachers, lack of officers. Third, the efforts made by the public reading in the utilization of public reading as a source of learning that is, buy books out of the area and take advantage of a network of bookstores or publishers, the public reading of building networks in the community, bringing volunteers or teachers, and have training of officers.Keyword: library, public reading, society.
