Abstract

This study analyzes the constructivist view of CNN's strategy on Islamophobia and Anti-American issues. Taking a case study of Islamophobia globally and Anti-Americanism in Indonesia, CNN provides two different identities regarding each issue that contradicts the assumptions of constructivism. Through descriptive qualitative research techniques and data collection documentation, the authors found that the strategy with two different identities for Islamophobia and Anti-Americanism is CNN's effort as a framing for the interests of the United States in the war on terror, as well as differentiating them from other news media. With news characteristics that are skeptical of the Middle East, CNN provides an identity as a supporter of Islamophobia and encourages the movement to grow. It's different if you switch to Indonesian news, CNN abandons its previous identity and builds a new identity with a narrative that supports Muslims from the point of view of Western countries. For constructivism, this dual identity strategy shows that CNN is a weak actor because they do not know who they really are and the ambiguity of the main interests they want to achieve

Abstract

This study discusses the factors that may influence the state to use the Chinese vaccines by examining the realism and liberal institution argument that the political value and institutions influence a state to cooperate with another state. This study examines the association between political (democracy) and economic (economic multilateral institution membership) factors and the state’s decision to use Chinese vaccines through regression analysis. This study found that: (1) states with a high level of democracy tend not to use vaccines from China and prefer to use other vaccines; (2) membership in multilateral economic cooperation under China’s leadership (BRI and AIIB) shows different tendencies in vaccine selection. This study shows that domestic politics and the nature of multilateral cooperation in an international institution influence state behavior. This study confirms that the vaccine is a global health issue, but political and economic factors appear to be associated with vaccine selection

Abstract

This study aims to analyze President Park's decision in formulating the GSOMIA (General Security of Military Agreement) cooperation. It is carried out using descriptive qualitative methods and secondary data collection techniques from literature studies, and relies on the Decision-Making Process theory of Richard C. Snyder which looks at the subjective factors of the main decision makers. This study shows that for the first time, South Korea and Japan managed to reach an agreement on military information exchange cooperation (GSOMIA) in 2016. After being delayed for four years, President Park Geun-Hye insisted on realizing GSOMIA in the midst of a crisis due to public rejection. It was found through policy analysis related to the formulation of GSOMIA from the South Korean point of view that President Park's perspective was shaped by several factors. Factors originating from internal South Korea are President Park's desire to increase South Korea's military capabilities. Meanwhile, the external factor that became the reason for the realization of GSOMIA was President Park's desire to protect the country from threats.

Abstract

The research explains the impact of climate change which resulted in environmental migration from Bangladesh to India. This study aims to analyze the impact of climate change on environmental migration from Bangladesh to India. The method used is a qualitative method with data collection through literature studies with the concept of human security by UNDP and the theory of environmental migration by Graeme Hugo. The results of this study indicate that the impact of climate change which is massively occurring in Bangladesh raises "push" and "pull" factors which result in environmental migration from Bangladesh to India. However, there are obstacles in the form of the entry of Bangladeshi people into India illegally and the implementation of policies that have limited information. This research can be used as a reference for further research.
