Abstract

Essential hypertension is an increase in blood pressure with no known cause. Management of hypertension can be done non-pharmacologically such as massage, acupuncture, meditation, herbal treatment, and foot soak therapy using warm water. Foot soak therapy using warm water are inexpensive and effective. In 2021, Sungai Sariak Community Health Center patients had hypertension second most often. It provides therapy in the form of drugs like amlodipine, but a nurse interviewed said they had never provided education about foot soak therapy using warm water. The study examined the foot soak therapy using warm water on blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. This study employed experimental design through Purposive Sampling to choose 25 hypertensive patients. The average systolic blood pressure of people with hypertension before giving foot soak therapy using warm water was 156.96 and after giving foot soak therapy using warm water was 142 .40, the average diastolic blood pressure of people with hypertension before giving foot soak therapy using warm water was 88.44 and after giving foot soak therapy using warm water was 81.44, there was an effect of foot soak therapy using warm water on blood pressure in people with essential hypertension with p value = 0.000 (< 0.05) for the systolic blood pressure variable and for the diastolic blood pressure variable, a p value = 0.006 (< 0.05). Foot soak therapy using warm water has a significant effect on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers.

Abstract

The term burden of care has been widely used in current nursing reference sources, but the definition of the concept of the burden of caring for caregivers of people with Schizophrenia has never been studied. Therefore, this article aims to analyze and provide relevant information related to the caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia. This literature study uses an electronic article search tool from several online database sources such as (CINAHL (Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health), PubMed, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library), health official websites (both non-government or government), and dictionaries. This analytical study adopts the principles of Walker and Avant to identify the attributes, antecedents, and consequents of this concept. This study has identified the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of the concept of caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia. The attributes include Unequal distribution of responsibilities, persistent fatigue, and perception. Meanwhile, the antecedents are a lack of formal and informal social support, the conflict of various duties, and limited social activities. The last, in this study, has revealed the concept's negative consequences, including decreased quality of care, poor quality of life, and physical and psychological problems. A clear understanding of the caregiver burden of people with Schizophrenia has been defined. The results of this study can be used as a knowledge base for scientific development to improve the quality of nursing interventions, especially for caregivers of people with Schizophrenia.

Abstract

Maternal health literacy (MHL) equips pregnant women to seek timely Antenatal care (ANC). Through ANC, health workers can provide education that contributes to reducing the maternal mortality rate. This research aims to investigate the relationship between MHL and adherence to recommended ANC contacts and explore how mothers experience accessing ANC. The study design was a mixed-method study. A total of 305 pregnant women with various characteristics participated in this study. Quantitative data analysis used simple linear regression, while qualitative used Collaizi's strategy. The research found a positive relationship between MHL and adherence to recommended ANC contact with R2 = 0.18; F(1, 303) = 6.533, p < 0.05. Three themes represented the phenomenon of pregnant women in carrying out ANC: 1) perceptions about ANC, 2) challenges faced by pregnant women in accessing recommended ANC contact, and 3) supporting factors in doing routine ANC contact. Pregnant women with higher MHL have higher adherence to ANC contact. Health workers and policymakers can involve the results of this research in efforts to revise or make policies related to increasing pregnant women's ANC contacts.

Abstract

Incontinence, particularly urinary incontinence, is a prevalent condition that significantly affects patients' quality of life, including their sexual health. Physical therapy exercises, especially pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT), have been recognized as effective interventions for managing incontinence and enhancing sexual function. This systematic review aims to evaluate the role of physical therapy exercises in improving sexual health among patients with incontinence. A total of 15 studies were included, highlighting the positive impact of these exercises on sexual satisfaction, frequency of intercourse, and overall sexual well-being. The findings suggest that incorporating physical therapy exercises, particularly PFMT, into the management of incontinence can lead to significant improvements in sexual health. However, further research is necessary to standardize exercise protocols and explore long-term outcomes.
