Abstract

In the digital era, Generation Z (Gen Z) encounters numerous challenges and opportunities driven by the rapid advancement of information technology, including the increasing prevalence of online gambling. This study investigates the critical role of Islamic financial literacy in mitigating online gambling, with a particular focus on online slot gambling, a rapidly growing segment. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, the research was conducted in Surabaya and involved participants from within and outside the city to provide a comprehensive perspective. The findings highlight that several factors influence the escalation of online gambling among Gen Z. Internally, the challenge lies in the inadequate internalization of relevant norms and values, which leads to poor financial decision-making. Externally, factors such as economic pressures and technological advancements make online gambling more accessible and appealing, thus exacerbating the issue of rising addiction and financial instability among vulnerable individuals. This study emphasizes the urgent need to enhance Islamic financial literacy among Gen Z. By integrating Islamic financial principles into educational initiatives and personal finance management, individuals can be better equipped to make informed decisions, avoid gambling temptations, and manage their finances responsibly. Strengthening Islamic financial literacy is crucial for reducing the negative impacts of online gambling and fostering a more financially prudent generation.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the characteristics and patterns of adolescent consumer behavior related to their participation in coffee shop culture and to determine the impact of adolescent consumer behavior on coffee culture from the perspective of Islamic Economics. The phenomenon of the increasing popularity of coffee shops among teenagers indicates a change in consumption patterns, which has the potential to lead to consumerist behavior. Consumerist behavior is considered excessive and inconsistent with the principles of justice and balance in wealth management. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data sources consist of primary and secondary data. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with teenage visitors to Cafe Rooster, observations, and documentation. The results of this study show that: 1) Coffee shops have become a symbol of social status and a popular gathering place among teenagers, driven by peer pressure and the desire for acceptance. Teenagers are driven to spend money at coffee shops to express themselves, seek enjoyment, and follow trends promoted through social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, which also influence their purchasing decisions. 2) From the perspective of Islamic economics, the consumer behavior of teenagers in coffee shop culture has negative impacts, such as uncontrolled spending and being contrary to the principle of prudence in Islam, which is opposed to the value of blessings in Islam and has the potential to cause financial problems in the future. Therefore, a balance between consumption and saving needs to be maintained.

Abstract

Cooperatives are a collection of several members who produce common goals. The sources of cooperative funds are mandatory dues, principal dues, and voluntary dues. This research applies field research. There are 2 data sources, namely primary data sources (the main source and directly obtained from the research site, namely interviews) and secondary data sources (books, journals, legislation, and other literature studies). The data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of data collection in the form of reducing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research on the Practice of Islamic Economic Law Review in the MJS Product Financing System (Multi Jasa Sehatera) at Kpps Bina Syariah Ummah Sugio Branch are The implementation of the ijarah contract on MJS products at Kpps Bina Syariah Ummah Sugio Branch is not by the DSN MUI Fatwa at Number 09/DSN- MUI/IV/2000 because the fatwa explains that the ijarah contract is a contract in the form of a lease between the owner and the tenant and the compensation is in the form of rent from the item (ujrah) not profit sharing. Whereas in the MJS product, there is profit sharing, which is the sharing of profits from the results of its business or from the results of loans that have been given. So MJS products are not by the DSN MUI fatwa. Researchers suggest that MJS products are by the MUI fatwa, so the rent is in the form of goods or services that can be taken advantage of, not in the form of money, and at the end of the rental period there is no such thing as profit sharing but in the form of paying rent from the goods or services being rented.

Abstract

The growing awareness of the importance of halal products has significantly influenced various sectors, including the cosmetics industry. However, prior research has predominantly focused on halal food and beverages, while halal skincare products, such as Somethinc, have received limited academic attention. Furthermore, studies that integrate halal literacy, labeling, product quality, and price about purchase decisions, with a willingness to pay a premium price as a mediating variable, remain scarce. This study examines the influence of halal literacy, halal label, product quality, and product price on the purchasing decisions of Somethinc skincare products among Gen Z, mediated by willingness to pay a premium price. The research method used is quantitative, with primary data obtained through questionnaires. The sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a total of 272 respondents. The data analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), analyzed using the software SmartPLS version 3. The results of this study indicate that the variables halal literacy, product quality, and product price do not directly affect purchasing decisions, while the halal label variable and willingness to pay a premium price directly influence purchasing decisions. The halal literacy and halal label variables do not affect willingness to pay a premium price, whereas product quality and product price variables do affect willingness to pay a premium price. Additionally, halal literacy and halal labels do not influence purchasing decisions when mediated by a willingness to pay a premium price, whereas product quality and product price do influence purchasing decisions when mediated by a willingness to pay a premium price.

In the era of globalization and rapid growth of the tourism industry, a halal tourism development strategy has become an urgent need to encourage a sustainable economy based on the principles of Maqashid Sharia. This research aims to analyze halal tourism development strategies as a driving element for sustainable economic growth based on the concept of Maqashid Sharia. The research method used is a qualitative approach. The results of this research confirm that halal tourism has the potential to positively impact the economy sustainably. This approach involves key components such as halal food, accommodation that is friendly to Muslim needs, and interactions with religious norms. This creates an environment that is in line with Maqashid Sharia, which involves the protection of religion (Hifz al-Din), soul (Hifz al-Nafs), intellect (Hifz al-Aql), descendants (Hifz al-Nasl), property (Hifz al-Mal), and environment (Hifz al-Bi’ah).  In the context of the halal tourism development strategy, three important factors were identified: the development of infrastructure that supports halal principles, the promotion of appropriate destinations, and the implementation of the principles of crowdfunding within the Sharia framework.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the halal value chain of slaughter and processing in broiler chicken businesses at AFJ JAYA Sembayat from an Islamic economic perspective, as well as consumers' views of the halal value chain in these businesses. The research method used in this research is field research using a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with slaughterhouse managers and consumers. The results of the research show that the halal value chain practices for the chicken slaughter process at AFJ JAYA Sembayat comply with the provisions with MUI Fatwa Number 12 of 2009’s requirements concerning Halal Slaughter Certification Standards. However, chicken processing practices are not by the provisions of MUI Fatwa Number 12 of 2009 because they do not separate dirty and clean spaces. Due to business owners' ignorance of the significance of halal certification for the chicken slaughterhouse sector, AFJ JAYA Sembayat does not currently hold halal certification. However, consumers still choose to continue purchasing because they feel confident that the chicken meat is halal and high-quality. All of this is purely caused by a lack of halal literacy, so ongoing counseling and assistance are necessary.

Abstract

This study, titled "Strengthening the DSN-MUI Fatwa as a Legal Source within the Indonesian Legislative System in Resolving Sharia Economic Disputes", is driven by concerns over the lack of binding legal authority of DSN-MUI (National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council) fatwas. Despite their valuable content and relevance to Islamic economic practices, these fatwas are not yet formally recognized as binding legal sources. To address this issue, the research raises two main questions: (1) What is the current legal status of DSN-MUI fatwas within Indonesia's regulatory system in resolving sharia economic disputes? and (2) How can these fatwas be strengthened to gain formal legal recognition?. Using a qualitative-normative method through literature review, the study examines both fatwas that have been adopted into legislation and those that have not. The findings reveal that DSN-MUI fatwas, in practice, lack binding legal force in Sharia economic dispute resolution. The study also explores ways to enhance their legal standing. The analysis concludes that: (1) DSN-MUI fatwas do not yet have binding legal power, and their application still faces challenges in legal practice; and (2) Their legal authority can be strengthened by collaborating with state institutions, such as the Supreme Court, to issue judicial regulations (PERMA) that formally incorporate DSN-MUI fatwas. This approach would provide them with stronger legal legitimacy in Indonesia’s regulatory framework
