Abstract

This action research aimed to increase learning achievement of students on Civic Education at grade XII SMA Negeri 1 Suliki, the District of Limapuluh Kota, through the implementation of Syteamama method. This study was conducted through an action research with two learning cycles and four steps for each step as suggested by Kemmis dan Taggart, that is planning, action, observation, and reflection. The finding of this study generally indicated that implementation Syteamama method could increase the learning achievement of students on civic education significantly, especially at grade XII SMA Negeri 1 Suliki, the District of Limapuluh Kota. Abstract

This article presents a discussion on the learning strategy of how to integrate the sociological concepts and principals in order to shape student’s character by way of using the Minangkabau local wisdom. Such strategy could be done, among others, by integrating sociological concepts and scientific sociological principles with cultural values of Minangkabau, as it is reflected in local proverbs, traditional poetries (pantun), aphorism etc. Finding out the relation sociological concepts with the local cultural values is merely one step. Further step is to single out the idea behind local cultural values as a tenet in which the students could learn much about good characters they should pursue. Endeavour to integrate local characters values with the subject of sociology should refer to existing curriculum in sociology accordingly in which the syllabus, core competency, basic competency and its indicators are included as learning instruments (RPP) and learning processes in the class as well. Abstract

ABSTRAK Kolonialisme Barat yang hegemonik membawa bersamanya proses pembaratan budaya. Proses ini tidak hanya berbentuk material ke Asia Tenggara tetapi juga berhasil memaksakan ide-ide intelektual yang membawa dampak transformatif pada masyarakat di kawasan ini. Salah satu yang terbaru, sebagaimana konsep JS Furnivall adalah pembentukan “masyarakat majemuk” di negara-negara jajahan yang akhirnya mencapai negara-negara merdeka yang modern. Beberapa diantara negara-negara merdeka ini berhasil melalui transformasi politik dan menghasilkan berbagai varian kemajemukan yang berakar dari model masyarakat plural. Malaysia dan Singapore adalah dua contoh yang berguna dalam konteks ini, tetapi keduanya sering diberi label sebagai “masyarakat multikultural” yang mempraktekkan multi-kulturalisme. Tulisan ini memaparkan argumen yang mungkin saja benar untuk kasus Singapura tetapi tidak demikian untuk kasus Malaysia. Abstract

This paper discusses gender as an increasingly melting identity. Real practice can be found in social media, where gender identity as one of the symbols in understanding the masculinity and femininity attributes of a person begins to appear in different ways. The male phenomenon that is thought to lose the identity of masculinity for using an attribute that is stereotypically used by women is often found in social media and its interactions. Media as a source of information, correlation, continuity, entertainment, and mobilization, consciously or unconsciously, has established a new perspective in describing gender identity. The identity displayed on social media no longer has to adapt the prevailing public stereotypes. In reality, gender identity is increasingly melting.Keywords : media, identity, gender, androgini

Abstract

Separation between economics and political science have long lasted so they are not able to provide the same conclusion about the analyzed object. Economics only examine market institutional aspects without touching nonmarket social institutions. Instead of political science is very poor framework for seeing the phenomenon of economic analysis on the basis of market institutions. Public choice perspective has become a bridge that can analyze problems outside the framework of the analysis, which is based on the phenomenon of the market. This is what allows the return encounter in economics and politics in a region so that the analysis of the development of social sciences in the future is no longer compartmentalized in strict discipline, not mutually exclusive and mutually reinforce with each other. As a result of this separation of science, the social sciences experienced a major crisis due to many new phenomena, which can not be captured perfectly by the two groups of scientists. Abstract

Customer satisfaction is the main purpose of the institution in providing excellent service to customers. Service quality is not only to give customer satisfaction but also to build a good brand image of the institution. This study aims to analyze the influence of academic service quality and the image of institutions on student satisfaction of the State University of Padang (UNP). Population consisted of students enrolled in semester from July to December 2011. Sampling was done by purposive sampling with total sample size of 220 respondents. Data was analyzed with multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) the quality of academic services have a significant effect on the brand image of the institution, (2) the quality of academic services have a significant effect on student satisfaction, (3) the institution's brand image have a significant effect on student satisfaction. Research suggestion for the institution to make continuous improvements of the quality of academic service as a core product in higher education

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article discusses the results of a classroom action research on enhancing the mathematical learning activity and learning achievements through the implementation of cooperative learning model of Time Games Tournament (TGT) in Class XII3 Hospitality at SMKN 6 Padang. This action research was conducted in two cycles, the first cycle was held on January 4, 2016 until January 20, 2016, and the second cycle conducted on January 25, 2016 until February 9, 2016. The finding of this research indicated that the implementation of cooperative learning model Time Games Tournament (TGT) was quite effective in enhancing the student activity and learning achievements of mathematics in class XII3 Hospitality at SMKN 6 Padang. The mastery of the subject matter has exceeded the specified Minimal Completeness Criteria (KKM), that is 70. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the activity and learning achievements of math students of class XII3 Hospitality at SMKN 6 Padang can be improved with the implementation cooperative learning model of team games tournament. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the relationship between of job characteristic encompassed by four components: (pay satisfaction and career growth, task clarity, skill utilization and task significant) with job satisfaction. The study investigated the relationship of these variables in the municipality of Payakumbuh. The data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires among 93 civil servants of number employees selected through a cluster random sampling. The study findings show that task clarity, skill utilization and task significant have significant relationship with job satisfaction. Kata Kunci: Karakteristik pekerjaan, kepuasan kerja, pegawai
