Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of collaborative professional development (CPD) programs in enhancing teachers’ ability to foster higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) among students. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative data from pre- and post-intervention assessments with qualitative insights from teacher interviews and classroom observations. Findings reveal that CPD significantly improved teachers’ pedagogical strategies, particularly in designing inquiry-based tasks, facilitating open-ended questioning, and promoting critical and creative thinking. Moreover, collaborative learning communities provided opportunities for peer feedback, reflective practice, and sustained professional dialogue, which contributed to teachers’ confidence and instructional adaptability. The study underscores the pivotal role of collaborative professional development in building teacher capacity for fostering HOTS and suggests that school systems should institutionalize CPD as a strategic tool for curriculum innovation and student-centered learning.

Abstract

The issue of food waste represents a global challenge with profound environmental, economic, and social consequences, serving as a barrier to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In Indonesia, the high rate of food waste underscores the need for transformative educational strategies that cultivate students’ sustainability consciousness. While numerous studies have explored Problem-Based Learning (PBL) as an effective approach for developing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, limited attention has been given to its potential for internalizing moral and spiritual values that drive sustainable behavior. This article addresses that gap by analyzing the potential of integrating Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ)-oriented PBL to enhance sustainability awareness through the contextual issue of food waste. Using a integrative literature review of 25 key publications (2018–2025) from reputable databases and international reports, the findings reveal that ESQ integration within PBL enriches the affective and conative domains of learning by instilling values of responsibility, balance (mizan), and human stewardship (khalifa fil ardh). The main finding highlights that ESQ-based PBL promotes a holistic form of sustainability consciousness encompassing cognitive, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. Educationally, this model offers an innovative and culturally relevant pedagogical framework for biology learning, empowering students to transform sustainability values into meaningful actions aligned with Indonesia’s moral and religious contexts.

Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) play a pivotal role in improving transparency, efficiency, and organizational learning across public institutions. Despite their potential, many governments—particularly in developing contexts—continue to experience uneven implementation outcomes. This study aims to identify the primary barriers and enablers influencing the successful adoption of KMS in public sector organizations. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, the research systematically analyzed 22 empirical studies published between 2006 and 2024 retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science databases. The synthesis reveals that technological, organizational, and human factors jointly shape KMS success. Common barriers include inadequate ICT infrastructure, bureaucratic rigidity, resistance to change, and low digital literacy. Conversely, leadership commitment, supportive culture, technological integration, and policy alignment emerge as key enablers. Interpreted through the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework, the Knowledge-Based View (KBV), and Socio-Technical Systems (STS) theory, the findings underscore that technological sophistication alone does not ensure effectiveness—strategic leadership and cultural transformation are equally critical. The study contributes a holistic understanding of KMS implementation dynamics in the public sector and offers evidence-based insights for policymakers to strengthen knowledge governance and institutional innovation.

Abstract

This study aimed to rethink the criteria for selecting Yoruba language textbooks for secondary schools in Ogun State, Nigeria, to promote sustainable development. Textbook selection is the process of identifying, evaluating, and choosing appropriate textbooks to support teaching and learning within an educational setting. Selecting a textbook is an important issue since it can affect the quality of teaching and learning. The study adopts a descriptive survey research design. The population consists of teachers in public secondary schools in Ogun State. A total sample of one hundred teachers (100) was collected from 20 selected public secondary schools in the Ijebu North Local Government Area, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study finds that a key criterion for Yoruba language textbooks is the cultural relevance and authenticity of the content. The textbook should be current and pedagogically innovative, integrating modern teaching methods, including digital tools and interactive exercises. A Yoruba language textbook must align first and foremost with the curriculum and educational standards set by relevant educational authorities. Therefore, the study recommends that textbooks incorporate concepts related to sustainable development; include a diverse range of voices, perspectives, and experiences to reflect the multicultural and multilingual society of the Yoruba people; and consider how technology can be integrated into the textbooks to enhance learning and engagement. This could include interactive digital resources, multimedia content, or online platforms for collaborative learning. It is also important to provide teachers with training and support on effectively using the textbooks in the classroom to promote sustainable development

Abstract

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, has reshaped instructional practices and teacher preparation, while raising questions about educators’ readiness to adapt effectively. This study examines the influence of ChatGPT usage and work motivation on the teaching readiness of educators in Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Leuwiliang, Bogor. Employing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 155 teachers using validated questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that both ChatGPT usage and work motivation have positive and significant effects on teaching readiness, with work motivation emerging as the strongest predictor. Moreover, the simultaneous impact of both variables explains a substantial proportion of variance in teaching readiness, indicating a synergistic relationship between technological utilization and psychological factors. The study concludes that effective AI integration in education must be accompanied by strong work motivation to enhance teachers’ preparedness. Ultimately, this research invites readers to reflect on how technology and human motivation together shape sustainable teaching readiness in the AI-supported educational landscape.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategic role of educational planning in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the fourth goal on quality education (SDG 4). Using a literature review method, this study integrates findings from various international and national studies over the past five years that highlight the relationship between education policy, sustainable development governance, and the effectiveness of data-driven and participatory planning. The analysis shows that educational planning plays a crucial role not only as an administrative tool but also as an instrument of social transformation that directs policies, resources, and programs toward achieving the SDGs. Implementation in Indonesia has been integrated into the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and regional development plans, but its effectiveness is still influenced by regional disparities, institutional capacity, and limited human resources. Recent studies confirm that the success of educational planning in supporting SDG 4 depends heavily on systematic, participatory, data-driven, and cross-sectoral planning mechanisms that synergize education with other sectors such as health, employment, and technology. Thus, inclusive and adaptive educational planning is the foundation for realizing quality education and achieving sustainable development goals in Indonesia.
