Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to describe the communication process that occurs at Konda State Special School (SLBN), namely between teachers and education staff towards students with disabilities who are deaf. The deaf are circumstances in which one cannot hear, so one cannot speak. The method of research used in this study is qualitative descriptive, where data is gathered through observation, interview, and document study. Then, the data is analyzed by doing data reduction, data presentation, and a deduction. Informant in this study are teachers and education staff  who have had direct contact with deaf student. Studies have shown that teachers and education staff implement S-R model, circular and secondary communication models, where deaf students are active when communicating with communicators both in the learning process and outside the classroom. A student with his ignorance and confusion about something will ask him directly. Then, when a communication process is challenging, a second alternative is that of using a handphone or paper as a text. It can also be seen that teachers and education staff use both verbal (oral) and nonverbal (SIBI) forms of communication simultaneously in conveying messages. In addition, the obstacles to communicating with deaf students are due to physical disabilities so as not to speak like other humans and poor language mastery, and in the learning process the deaf students forgets easly, gets bored, gets tired quickly and has difficulty concentrating.  Keywords : Communication Model, Deaf Students, Education Staff, SLB, Teacher

Abstract

This article discusses the analysis of news content about conditions after the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections. Researchers will analyze six news reported by Tempo.co online media between February 15 and 18, 2024. The news is analyzed to find out how journalism works and construct reality carried out by Tempo.co. The media, which is business-under the auspices of the Tempo Media Group company, has been known to be independent and critical. This research uses Holsti Theory or (Holsti Theory) to analyze the content of Tempo.co news with descriptive analysis methods. The subject of this study is Tempo.co as a source of information researchers get data. The object of research is six post-2024 Presidential Election news on the Tempo.co page of the February 15-18, 2024 edition. Supporting sources for this research are books and other research journals that can explain the information needed by researchers. The results showed that Tempo.co reported the dynamics of the 2024 Presidential Election within the framework of critical, analytical, and independent journalism, but still prioritized the principle of balancing or covering both sides, verified, and factual (based on facts). Tempo.co presents news about the presidential election without having a tendency of interest and only presents facts with the selection of competent sources. This is evidenced by the variation of post-Presidential Election news without cornering any of the three existing Presidential Candidate-Vice President pairs. PSSI needs to give the right response so that the crisis does not have a negative impact on the organization's image. This research aims to find out the image restoration strategy used by PSSI in dealing with the crisis. This research uses Benoit's Image Restoration Theory.  In describing PSSI's strategy, this research uses a descriptive quantitative method. The population used all news about PSSI's response to the Kanjuruhan tragedy published on Detik.com in October-November 2022. Sampling used the purposive sampling method. The results of this study show that PSSI uses all categories of image restoration strategies, such as denial, evasion of responsibility, reducing offensiveness, corrective action, and mortification. The evasion of responsibility strategy is the most dominant strategy, but it is not effective in improving the image because it avoids responsibility. Abstract

The increasing intensity of Rohingya refugee arrivals due to ethnic conflicts in Q4 2023 and Q1 2024 has once again drawn the attention of online mass media. The headlines set by several media outlets indicate that this event holds significant news value. The issue of Rohingya refugees has become one of the most prominent humanitarian crises of the 21st century, sparking various reactions and debates worldwide. On one hand, it reflects compassion and solidarity toward humanity, while on the other, it demands a firm stance that upholds national values. This study employs a constructivist paradigm using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The research focuses on how online media frame news about Rohingya refugees as victims of conflict in Myanmar. Six online media outlets were analyzed, including IDN Times (March 5), Detik.com (April 3), Liputan6 (April 13), CNN Indonesia (May 3), Kompas.com (May 7), and Tribunnews (May 7), arranged chronologically by the most recent publication of news on the Rohingya refugee issue. The analysis uses elements of Robert N. Entman's model, comprising Define Problem (problem definition), Diagnose Causes (identifying the problem and its sources), Make Moral Judgement (making moral assessments), and Treatment Recommendation (emphasizing solutions). The findings show that each media outlet's framing influences readers' perceptions differently. Online media generally tend to frame the issue positively regarding the government, portraying its central role as the primary helper. However, Liputan6 takes a more critical approach, encouraging readers to recognize shortcomings and challenges, including violations of local regulations by refugees. Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia opts for a global perspective, helping readers understand the scale of the crisis and the importance of international responses. Keywords: Framing Analysis, Indonesian Online Media, Latest Rohingya News
