Abstract

This research aims to analyze KH Khoiron Syu'aib's da'wah strategy in supporting the career transition of former commercial sex workers (PSK) in the former Bangunsari localization, Surabaya. The government's closure of Bangunsari prostitution localization had a significant impact on former prostitutes who lost their livelihoods. In this context, da'wah plays an important role in providing moral, spiritual, and practical support to help them transition to a more dignified profession. This research uses a qualitative method to explore the da'wah strategy implemented by KH Khoiron Syu'aib. Data was collected through interviews with KH Khoiron Syu'aib, a former prostitute, and local community leaders. Direct observation and documentation were also carried out to complete the data. The results of this research show that KH Khoiron Syu'aib uses a holistic and comprehensive da'wah approach, including spiritual aspects, skills development, economic empowerment, and psychosocial support. Through regular recitations, skills training and economic empowerment programs, KH Khoiron Syu'aib has succeeded in increasing the awareness and ability of former prostitutes to switch to other, more dignified professions. Apart from that, the psychosocial support provided also helps former prostitutes overcome social stigma and increase their self-confidence. This research concludes that KH Khoiron Syu'aib's da'wah strategy is effective in supporting the career transition of former prostitutes in the former Bangunsari localization. A holistic and comprehensive approach is the key to success in changing the lives of former prostitutes and improving their welfare. It is hoped that these findings can become a reference for similar empowerment programs in other regions, as well as contributing to the development of a more effective and sustainable da'wah model in overcoming the social and economic problems faced by former prostitutes in Indonesia. Keywords: Career transition of prostitutes, Da'wah, Former Bangunsari localization, KH Khoiron Syuaib

Abstract

Instagram has emerged as a dominant platform in social media marketing, particularly for the cosmetic industry, which thrives on visual and interactive content. With Instagram penetration in Indonesia increasing by 13% from 2022 to 2023, it has become a critical medium for promoting products, monitoring trends, and analysing consumer behaviours. However, a gap remains in understanding how different types of Instagram content influence consumer engagement, especially in the context of cosmetic brands. This research addresses the specific issue of how various content forms, such as images, videos, and interactive campaigns, impact engagement metrics like likes, comments, and shares. By analysing 10 leading cosmetic brands in Indonesia, the study identifies that interactive content, such as influencer collaborations, storytelling, and giveaways, significantly enhances consumer interaction compared to static visuals. The findings offer practical solutions for optimizing social media strategies, enabling brands to build stronger emotional connections with their audiences while improving loyalty and retention. This research contributes to social media marketing literature and provides actionable insights for cosmetic brands to develop data-driven and impactful content strategies in an increasingly competitive market. Abstract

The problem studied in this paper is the diversity of understanding of Muslims who are institutionalized into organizations and carry out da'wah activities with their own characteristics. The method used is a literature review with an analysis technique that imitates the flexible content analysis method, namely by providing a description of the author's meaning based on expert concepts and understanding and experience of the al-Qur'an and Hadith arguments and other references, both from books and articles and observations of objective reality in the community. The results of the study show that the diversity of da'wah organizations often has the potential to give rise to tension, attitudes of mutual weakening, and disharmony caused by shallow understanding, loss of clarity of understanding, cult of figures, and organizational ego. In order for harmony and cooperation in da'wah organizations to occur, it is necessary to understand that differences are a blessing, while division is a curse, to understand well the matter of qath'iy and zhanniy or the matter of ushul and furu', to direct attention to the ideas conveyed, not figures or organizations, and to focus on the goals of da'wah which are common goals.

Abstract

The world is now entering the 5.0 era where humans are required to think forward and be innovative in facing the challenges of the times. Gender equality is an important issue, but the gender gap is still evident, especially in terms of women's rights. Although many Indonesian women have occupied public positions, patriarchal perspectives are still widely found, one of which is in the practice of endogamous marriage. The purpose of this article is to analyze the gender perspective of Palembang Arabs who practice endogamous marriage. The approach used in this article is descriptive qualitative. The informants interviewed totaled five people, two women and three men. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that men consider women (sharifah) of Arab ethnicity to be submissive so that things that are prohibited such as not being highly educated, not being allowed to have other activities outside the home, and limiting their duties to only taking care of the house and children are things that make them appropriate or not to be used as wives. on the other hand, for women, education is something that is allowed in religion as the hadith which means "pursue knowledge from the mother's cradle to the grave", kitchen affairs are not only women's affairs but also men's affairs, so there is a need for communicationKeywords: Gender issues; Endogamous marriage; Gender inequality, Palembang Arab Village

Abstract

As a generation of digital natives, adolescents have integrated the internet as an inseparable part of their daily lives. While it offers various new opportunities, internet use also presents numerous risks. This study examines risky online behaviors among high school students in Makassar City using a quantitative approach and survey method involving 153 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data collection focused on four categories of risky behavior: misuse of personal data, exposure to pornographic content, threats to personal safety, and cyberbullying. The data were analyzed using McLuhan’s Media Ecology Theory framework. The findings reveal that a majority of respondents had shared sensitive personal information, such as their school name (74.5%), phone number (45.8%), and home address (32.7%), thereby increasing the risk of privacy violations and data misuse. Exposure to pornographic content was notably high, with 82.4% accessing it unintentionally and 38.6% intentionally. Furthermore, 50.3% reported having received and 19% having distributed sexually explicit content. Personal safety risks were also significant, with 73.9% having interacted with strangers online, 33.3% having sent personal photographs, and 49.7% admitting to in-person meetings following online communication. Cyberbullying emerged as a prominent issue, both in terms of victimization and perpetration, with 62.1% having received humiliating comments and 12.4% having received threats, while 54.2% admitted to sending insulting messages and 7.3% to issuing threats. This study contributes to the discourse on youth engagement with digital media by providing empirical insights into patterns of risky behavior online.

Abstract

Disasters are caused by the interaction of biophysical systems, human systems, and the built environment. Disaster management with a lack of understanding and context of risk communication. When a major disaster occurs, recovery requires a massive infusion of external public and private resources, but what happens is that conditions are highly unequal, and likely to produce many of the pre-existing inequities in exposure and vulnerability. This research focuses on the first 72 hours of disaster relief through effective communication in the case of the 13 June 2022 tornado in Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to provide education about the first 72 hours that must be carried out in handling disaster cases through an effective and central communication channel. The research method used is qualitative, existential phenomenology and the paradigm built is constructivism. The findings in the field show that the people of Yogyakarta still lack knowledge about how to communicate effectively in dealing with disasters such as a lack of evacuation training, minimal communication tools, minimal evacuation route maps, even in the context of a tornado disaster, no residents know what to do. to do and to whom they should communicate first. The potential impact of ineffective communication; more and more victims, disaster losses increased partly because the way to design and build communication is wrong and not on target. Many people speculate about the causes of disasters, the minimal contribution of society to increased exposure to hazards often results in damage to environmental resources such as the collapse of people's houses and damage to public facilities. Initial disaster failure; identifying communication lines to ensure evacuation of highly vulnerable environments should be known before disaster. Improvement of long-term communication lines needs to be improved by mapping community communication patterns, communication tools and who is the first person to contact. Keywords: Risk Communication, Disaster Communication, Disaster Evacuation, Communication Lines
