Students’ poor mathematic problem-solving ability is an important problem in mathematic. In enriching students’ ability, it is needed an effort for students to solve the items regularly. The alternative method that can be used is drill method. This research aimed to know the improvement of students’ ability in mathematic problem solving by using the drill and the students’ attitude. This research was the quasy experiment with randomized pre-test post-test control group design. The experiment class used drill method. The research subjects were the students of Manba Ul’ulum, Tangerang city, Banten Regency. The result of this research showed that the improvement of students’ mathematic problem-solving by using drill method was better than the conventional learning. The main gain for the experimental and control class included to the high category. The positive attitude was also shown in the learning process by using drill method.

The generalizing skill of vocational students was still quite low of a grade. These results were demonstrated by several studies that have been done before. Many students felt difficult in finding patterns or relationships of mathematical situations, especially in its analysis to make generalizations. According to the goals of the vocational curriculum of mathematics teaching, generalization was one of the capabilities that must be developed. Therefore, self-confident as affective aspects becomes the main factor which supports the development of generalization ability. This article focused on the reviewing an approach in mathematics learning process that can be used as an alternative to improve the ability of generalization and self-confident of vocational students.

This research was conducted to provide alternative learning models that can improve the ability of students’ reasoning. By giving the opportunity to students to be more active in the learning process, Problem Based Learning model was one of the alternatives to improve students’ reasoning in calculus III courses. This research was quasi-experimental research at the Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya. The instruments used in this study consists of mathematical reasoning tests in Calculus III. Research samples were taken randomly i.e. one experimental class and one control class. Data processed by using the normalized gain test, t-test percentage presentation after all the requirements of the test were met. The results of the analysis showed a difference of the average of students’ mathematical critical thinking between experiment and control class. Further test showed that students’ average of experiment class was better than the control class.

This research aimed to observe (1) the improvement of mathematical understanding of students who were taught with Alberta inquiry method compared to conventional method, (2) the differences in improvement of mathematical understanding of students with higher, moderate and lower of mathematical abilities who had learning process with Alberta inquiry method and conventional method, and (3) attitudes of students after learning using Alberta inquiry method. Population in this research were all grade VIII students at Junior High School 12 Tasikmalaya Two classes were selected as the samples. One class was selected as the experiment class and the other served as the control class. The instruments used consisted of understanding skill test and attitudes scale questionnaire. Data processing technique used “normalized gain test“, t-test, Two-way ANOVA. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical understanding and mathematical critical thinking of the students who learned using Alberta Inquiry method were better than this learnd using conventional method. There were differences between the improvement of mathematical understanding of students, with higher, moderate and lower mathematical abilities who learned using Alberta inquiry method compared to there learned using conventional method. Students showed a positive attitude toward learning process using, Alberta inquiry method.

This study aimed to determine the increasements of mathematical creative thinking abilities of secondary school student after learning through cooperative learning Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD). This study used the quasi-experimental design with a control group, not equivalent. The study involved an experimental class given STAD cooperative learning assisted Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP) and the control class was only given expository learning. Instruments used a set of mathematical creative thinking tests and questionnaires attitudes. The results showed that the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability can be improved through STAD cooperative learning STAD assisted Geometer’s Sketchpad.

The aim of the study was to obtain data and empirical information about the differences in students’ mathematics learning outcomes in grade-XI who were taught by drill and expository method. The samples were chosen by simple random sampling technique to be grouped into experiment and control class, each class consisted of 30 students. The experiment class was treated by drill method and the control class by the expository method. Thirty multiple choices were used as the instruments. The test of validity and reliability of the instrument stated that the instruments were fit for use. Based on the data analysis by t-test, it was concluded that there were differences between mathematics learning outcomes of students who was treated by drill method and expository method. The result of this research showed that mathematics learning outcomes of students who was treated by drill method were higher than expository method.

This research conducted to know the effectiveness of screencast-o-matic application against student learning outcomes. This research was quasi-experimental in Siliwangi University of Tasikmalaya. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 20.0 software. Based on Test Statistic table, the value of Exact sig. (1-tailed) 0,000 0,025, means Ho is rejected. This showed that the average of ranking of the experimental group significantly exceeded the average ranking of the control group. In other words, student learning outcomes which using Screencast-o-matic media was better than the student learning outcomes which using conventional learning. Results of this research were expected that the lecturer or teachers are able to apply Screencast-o-matic media in learning so that the lessons more effective.

This study aimed to determine the effect of cooperative learning model Student Facilitator and Explaining on students’ mathematical understanding. The population in this study were students in seventh-grade students in academic year 2012/2013. Two classes were randomly selected as the samples, one class become experiment treated by cooperative learning model Student Facilitator and Explaining and other class become control treated by direct instructional model. The research used instruments of mathematics comprehension test and questioners. Data were analyzed using two different test average. The results showed a positive effect of applying cooperative learning model Student Facilitator and Explaining to students’ mathematical understanding. There was a positive attitude of students towards learning using a cooperative model of Student Facilitator and Explaining.

This study aimed to determine a positive contribution of the usage of discovery learning model to the mathematics creative thinking abilities of students and to find out how students’ learning activities by using its model. The method used was experimental research. The population in this study were students of class-VIII SMP. Samples were taken randomly by class. Instruments used were the test of mathematical creative thinking abilities and observation sheets activities. The results showed a positive influence of the usage of discovery learning model to the mathematics creative thinking abilities of students. Students’ learning activities through discovery model were included in active level.

This research is aimed at improving the ability of students’ mathematical understanding through REACT strategy. This research method is a quasi-experimental study with the non randomized study design pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were students of class X of one vocational school in Tasikmalaya. The instruments used were pretest and posttest ability of students’ mathematical understanding. The data were analyzed quantitatively. The results showed that: (1) students who obtain learning through REACT strategy had significantly better improvement than students who received conventional learning (2) Students who earn learning with REACT strategy shows there is a difference compared with students who received conventional learning to be reviewed on the level of high, medium, and low (3) students who earn learning with REACT strategy by category ability of students to the ability of students’ mathematical understanding is better than conventional learning. This means REACT strategy can improve comprehension.
