Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of instructional investigation-assisted Cabri 3D software to students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities, knowing the difference of mathematical problem solving ability among students who received instructional investigation with the help of Cabri 3D software with those who obtained conventional learning seen from high, low and describe the independence of student learning on the application of investigative learning assisted Cabri 3D software. The method used in this research is the descriptive quantitative method. The population in this study is all students of Mathematics Education Department of Siliwangi University class of 2015/2016, while the sample in this research is the students who take the subjects of Kapita Selekta Matematika SMA II as much as two classes. The first class consisted of 30 students, used as an experimental group using instructional investigation assisted by Cabri 3D software and second class consist of 31 students, used as the control group with learning using conventional learning. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that (1) There is a positive influence of the application of investigative learning with the help of Cabri 3D software to the students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. The outcome target of this research is scientific publication published in the national journal having ISSN and proceeding at the national seminar on mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning motivation of learners using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, the ability to solve mathematical problems of learners using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, and the correlation between learning motivation and mathematical problem-solving skills of students using Model of Problem Based Learning (PBL). The method used is correlation method and descriptive method. The population in the study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Tasikmalaya, academic year 2015/2016. The sample in this study selected one class at random from all members of the population. The selected sample is class VIII B. The instrument used in the research is a matter of mathematical problem-solving abilities on the material of flat side room consisting of 4 items, and a set of the statement of motivation questionnaire as many as 18 items statement. The problem-solving and questionnaires test of learning motivation is carried out at the end of the lesson after all the materials are delivered. To analyse the results of research using statistical tests of regression and correlation between variables. Based on the results of research, processing, data analysis, and hypothesis testing it can be concluded that the ability of problem-solving mathematics learners using learning model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) included in good category, learning motivation of learners using Problem Based Learning model (PBL ) Included in medium motivation category, and there is correlation between learning motivation with problem-solving ability of mathematic learners using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know about the improvement of the mathematical problem-solving ability of grade VII students through the application of creative problem-solving model based on contextual. This study included quasi-experimental. The population involves all students of class VII SMPN 2 Lapandewa consisting of three classes and samples taken by purposive sampling so selected 25 students from class VIIA as an experimental class and 25 students of class VIIC as a control class. The research instruments are pretest and postes problem-solving abilities. The data of the research were analysed using independent samples t-test. The result of the research shows that the improvement of mathematical problem-solving ability of students who follow creative problem solving based on contextual learning is better than who follow conventional learning. Thus this model can be used as an alternative effective learning model to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving skills optimally, especially on the rectangular material.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills of learners are one of the achievements of the curriculum that must be possessed by learners in math learning. This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical communication skills of better learners who use Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model by using direct learning model. Creative Problem solving (CPS) model is used as a learning model in this research to improve students' mathematical communication ability. Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model builds learners more active, creative and skilled in solving problems compared to direct learning models. The research was conducted on the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Kota Tasikmalaya on the material to build the space side of flat by using experimental research method. Two classes were taken as samples, experiment class using Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model and control class using direct learning. Data collection techniques used in the form of test students' mathematical communication skills through pre test and post-test by using statistical analysis of normalized gain. The result of improvement of mathematic communication ability of students using Creative Problem Solving (CPS) model is better than using direct learning model.

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research is to know about the application of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Square type on the material of three-dimensional space (cube) in improving student achievement of class X SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. The subjects of this study involved 38 students of grade X.8 SMA Negeri 1 Baubau. Implementation of this research begins with the test then continued with two cycles of action. Each cycle is done by stages: planning, action implementation, observation/evaluation, and reflection. Data analysis technique used by descriptively qualitative which include data reduction, data presentation and conclusion or verification. Based on the research data, it is found that the learning completeness data on the initial test is 3.23%, the first cycle is 66.67%, and the second cycle is 89.19%. Because of the classical learning completeness criteria set at 75%, it can be concluded that the use of cooperative learning model of Think Pair Square type can improve mathematics learning achievement in students of grade X.8 SMA Negeri 1 Baubau.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical connection ability of students using Problem Based Learning model (PBL) with GeoGebra assisted software and not assisted GeoGebra software. The research method used is the experimental method with the population of all students classes VII SMP Negeri 1 Rajapolah. Samples were taken two classes at random, selected class VII-I using Problem-Based Learning model with GeoGebra software and class VII-H using Problem Based Learning model. Data collection techniques in this study are to test the ability of mathematical connections of learners and disseminate the questionnaire of mathematical disposition. Instruments used in this study is a matter of test the ability of mathematical connections of learners. Data analysis technique used is the test of difference of two mean and quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of processing, data analysis and hypothesis testing obtained the conclusion that the improvement of mathematical connection ability of learners through Problem Based Learning (PBL) model of GeoGebra software is not better or same with Problem Based Learning (PBL) model which is not supported by GeoGebra software.

Abstract

The study, entitled “Scientific Approach To Improve GeoGebra aided Mathematical Problem Solving”, held in Mathematics Education, the Faculty of Education, Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya in Subjects Calculus 1. This research was conducted in order to follow up the results of previous studies the researchers did in Mathematics Education courses on learning styles. Research conducted by the author on a scientific approach to learning Calculus 1using GeoGebra Software. This study uses Mix Method with the sample consists of two classes, one experimental class using GeoGebra aided scientific approach and experimental class 2 uses a scientific approach is not aided software GeoGebra , Instruments used Mathematical Problem Solving Problem Tests, Observation Sheet, and Software GeoGebra. Posttest results showed the increased of normalized gain experimental 1 class better than experiment 2 class. The results of this research is produce output in the form of used textbooks and published journals.

Abstract

Understanding of a/b form is very important as the basis of proportional reasoning. This study discusses the interference of students thinking in understanding a/b form. This research uses qualitative research type with research subject of the prospective teacher of the second semester. The results of the study found that subjects experienced interference about the a/b form as a fraction, which should be as a form of comparison. Knowledge of fractions disturbs comparative knowledge, so the subject is wrong in understanding the a/b form. In addition, the subjects did not understand the simplification of distribution.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse the achievement of student learning independence through scaffolding application. This study was a quasi-experimental research with involving two classes using purposive sampling. The population in this study was the student of class VIII in one of the public junior high school in Tasikmalaya district involving two classes as the sample. The data collection technique used was non-test. The test instrument according to the indicator the ability while the non-test by questionnaire. The data analyse performance Method of Successive Interval. The research result showed that ability of the student who gets scaffolding learning is higher than the student who gets direct learning, the student learning independence of student who gets scaffolding learning is better than students who get direct learning, and the student learning independence of student who gets scaffolding is in the high category.

Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research is to know about learning activity and to improve the learning result of class V student’s learning on GCD and LCM subject in SD Negeri 2 Bone-Bone through the application of the problem-solving approach. This research is carried out in the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Instruments used in the form of Tests, to measure the level of achievement of learning outcomes conducted by students and observation sheets, to determine the increase in student and teacher activity. The target of learning mastery is 75%. The result data showed that the improvement of learning outcomes is reflected from the achievement of KKM in the initial test of 36%, increasing in the first cycle to 72%, and increasing in the second cycle to 88%. There is an increase in student activity from the first cycle of 65% (active enough) to 90% (very active) in the second cycle. There is an increase in teacher activity from the first cycle of 71.11% (good) to 93.33% (excellent) in the second cycle. Based on the results of the study concluded that the application of problem-solving approach in learning can improve student learning outcomes and activities of students and teachers in learning mathematics.
