Abstract

This study aimed to determine the increase in student cognitive learning outcomes within material of occupational health and safety at the laboratory by implementing the Numbered Heads Together model, as well as obtains the students’ perspective toward the implementation of the model. This research was conducted with a quasi-experimental method through one group pretest-posttest design conducted at University of Samudra. Data collection was done by pretest and posttest to find the escalation in cognitive learning outcomes, as well as a questionnaire to determine student responses to the numbered heads together learning model. The average value of N-gain cognitive learning outcomes was 0.51, which was categorized as moderate category; it meant that in general, there was an increase in cognitive learning outcomes of students. Descriptively, students also gave a positive response toward implementation of the Numbered Heads Together model, so it can be concluded that learning with the Numbered Heads Together Model can improve student cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of cooking class on vegetable eating behavior in children. This research is quantitative approach with a quasi experimental research design with a non equivalent control group design. The total sample of 64 children were divided into two groups, namely the experimental and control groups. Data is collected through two stages, namely pretest and posttest. In the experimental group treatment was given in the form of cooking class while the control group did not. The treatment was carried out four times. Data collected by observation and documentation techniques. Indicators of vegetable eating behavior observed were consuming various vegetables, physical activity of children, drinking water. The types of vegetables used in this study were 6 types of vegetables that are close to children's daily life, namely tomatoes and leeks (group A vegetables), broccoli and carrots (group B vegetables), peas and soy bean sprouts (group C vegetables). Hypothesis testing uses the Anova test with the help of SPSS 25 for Windows Evaluation Version. The results showed that there were significant differences in vegetable eating behavior between the experimental and control groups.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the science process skills of students who are still low. Factors causing low science process skills are mastery of students' concepts of subject matter is still low. The purpose of this study is 1) to describe the feasibility of learning by implementing guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media on science process skills and mastery of the concept of environmental pollution, 2) to obtain data on guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media can improve environmental pollution science process skills, 3) to find out the implementation of guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media can improve mastery of the concept of environmental pollution, 4) to uncover student responses by implementing guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media on science process skills and mastery of the concept of environmental pollution. The method used in this study is a mixed method (mixed methods research design). The sampling technique using cluster random sampling was obtained by 2 classes, each of which amounted to 40 students for the experimental class and 40 students for the control class. The research instrument used was task and rubric science process skills, mastery concept essay tests, student response questionnaires to learning and observation sheets of teacher and student activities. The data analysis technique used is the normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. Based on the results of the analysis of the hypothesis test shows the value of t = 4.476 with Sig. 0.001 <0.05 means that the implementation of guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media can improve students' science process skills in the concept of environmental pollution. Based on the results of the test analysis shows the value t = 8.486 with Sig. 0.001 < 0.05 means that the implementation of the guided inquiry model based on visual cartoon media can improve the mastery of the concept of environmental pollution.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the comparison of phonological perceptions by extroverted and introverted deaf students. This research is a type of qualitative research. The data of this study focuses on phonological perceptions which are realized in the form of deaf students' writing which is based on the utterances of researcher. Deaf students wrote down all the words given by the researcher based on their knowledge and understanding. The data sources were from the tenth grade students of SMALB B Karya Mulia, which totaling 10 students. Data collection techniques used are the assignment. The data analysis technique used is the basic technique of determining the determinant elements (PUP) and advanced techniques in the form of an equalizing relationship technique (HBS). The PUP technique is used to sort out the contexts that come from deaf students by using orthographic power that is adjusted to the determining instrument, namely writing. The findings of this study can be mentioned as follows: There are two findings in this study, namely (1) The quality of the perspectives of extroverted deaf students over introverts, and (2) Variations in perceptions of extroverted deaf students under introverts.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the classroom conditions for student learning activities. This was quantitative and qualitative research, conducted on 40 subjects, using the questionnaire as an instrument. The results identified five conditions, including (1) The learning strategy practiced, as lecturers tend to use various offline methods in the classroom, which need to be upgraded to online-based models. (2) The condition of course material utility, which was assessed to already be good, although improvement is also necessary, through the use of various models, including Facebook online live study. (3) The state of the facilities also needs to be improved in terms of air conditioners and internet signals with fast network access capacity, in order to ensure proper online-based learning. (4) Lecturer competency; The analysis results of this section have an impact on knowledge, in relation to online learning, therefore properly increasing Internet technology literacy. Abstract

This study aims to: 1) recognize fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster), 2) morphologically distinguish adult fruit fly sex, 3) study the growth of fruit fly populations. The practicum was held on August 20, 2019 in the Biology Education Laboratory FKIP UISU. The working principle of practicum is making food as a medium for fruit fly culture (a mixture of bananas, cassava tape, benzoate), etherization and observation, observing the growth of fruit fly populations. Observations were made by counting the number of live flies and dead flies, the sex ratio of flies. Observations were carried out every day, for 15 days (20 August 2019 - 3 September 2019). The results of the analysis show that: 1) population growth of Drosophila melanogaster includes logistic growth models with S-shaped curves, 2) sex of adult fruit flies can be morphologically distinguished through body size, abdominal shape, genital comb and external genital organs in the abdomen. Based on the results and discussion, the following conclusions are obtained: 1) fruit flies including insects undergoing perfect metamorphosis (egg phase, larvae, pupa, imago), 2) differences in adult fruit fly sex can be seen from body size, abdomen shape, presence of genital comb, external genital organs in the abdomen, 3) population growth of fruit flies including logistic growth models in the form of S curves, influenced by environmental factors

Abstract

This study aims to obtain factual information regarding the implementation of the policy of merging public elementary schools in the South Jakarta region which consists of SDN Rawajati 03, SDN Pondok Pinang 10, and SDN Pejaten Timur 11. The method used in this study is evaluative with data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. Subjects in the study are the Principal, Teachers, and School Operators. The research findings show that the school incorporation policy is very precisely implemented which is seen from three perspectives of school managers who are research subjects. Based on the principal's perspective, it is known that the school incorporation policy has an impact on school management that is more effective and efficient so that education can run smoothly. The school incorporation policy also makes teachers work together and discuss related learning strategies so that students become more effective in learning and teaching activities. Different results were found from the perspective of school operators, namely the implementation of the school merger policy resulting in the increasing workload of school operators.
