Abstract

Sexism is a form of gender discrimination that has occurred from antiquity. Sexism can be experienced by both men and women. Sexism occurs not only in action, but it can occur in the use of language as well. One form of discrimination that occurs in women is through the song. Many of the song lyrics that were created both in Indonesian and in particular Java is a whiny song, which exploits the suffering of life, especially women. The object of this research is the lyrics of Java Bojoku Galak by Via Valen. The song is accompanied in dangdut koplo. In the Javanese song depicts the attitude of a wife's nerimo in accepting destiny. The purpose of this study was to analyze the lyrics of songs containing sexism. The method used in this research is qualitative method.

Abstract

This research is entitled Writing Style of Poetry of the Author of West Kalimantan. This study uses descriptive analysis approach. Meanwhile, the theory used in this study is semiotic theory. The results of the study show that there are semiotic differences in the style of poetry writing by three West Kalimantan writers. Each writer represents their respective times. In creating poetry works they have their own characteristics which are depicted in their poetry work. Munawar Kalahan's style of writing is based on his life in his hometown. Meanwhile, Yudhiswara poetry expresses criticism of social phenomena that exist in society. While Ibnu Hs authorship style is more abstract.

Abstract

Phrasal verb is one of the important components in the process of learning a foreign language. It is one form of vocabulary in the collection of words that make up the phrase where the verb is the word that heads the phrase. Students can not interpret phrasal verb partially but it must be interpreted collectively. The understanding of Politeknik of Tonggak Equator Pontianak sudents toward phrasal verb need to be known considering many literatures and terms used in the teacing and learing process. In doing this research, the method used is descriptive by describing the condition of students through recording their activity and identifies problems in using phrasal verb. Techniques of data collecting are interviews and tests to obtain a description of students understanding of the use of phrasal verb. Filling in the blank form of test is used in order to know the understanding of students toward the use of phrasal verb in sentence, while interviews conducted to match test answers with oral answers. Some students still have difficulty in understanding the phrasal verb. Students are still fixated on sentence patterns and think that phrasal verb is a phrase that can be translated word by word.

Abstract

Ribun or Hibun language spoken around the District of TayanHulu, TayanHilir, Bonti, Kembayan, and Parindu, West Kalimantan. This paper discusses the diphthongization in Ribun language. This paper uses phonetic analysis (Collins, 1983, 2016). The result of this paper there are unique diphthongizationin Ribun. Firstly, diphthongization appear to indicate diphthongs with vowels of glide, namely high vowel /u/ and a middle vowel /o/ which followed by of glide at the end of a word, which is not followed by a consonant. Second, the high front vowel /i/, high back vowel /u/, low central vowel /a/, front middle vowel /e/, and the rear middle vowel /o/ experienced of glidein the final syllable position covered consonants. However, the style of thisdiphthongization is different, in this position, high vowel /i/ show of glide [ə] fronts /ʔ/, /h/, and nasal /ŋ/. High back vowel /u/ show of glide [a] front /h/ and of glide [ə] front /h/ and /ŋ/.

Abstract

This study was to examine the meaning area of hand activities found in Malay language of Pontianak. The method used was descriptive method. The purpose of this study was to describe the existence of meaning area of hand activities which showed the meaning of inter lexemes-dealt structure. The result analysis showed that the lexeme grouping was based on the meaning components, which, in turn formed groups or sub area of specifics meanings. To determine the meaning components in which they were used to string such words which a meaning on each lexeme, the determination of formulation of its meta language was taken. In order to determine the meta language, it used guidance as a concept, such as hands or fingers, speed target, frequency, ways, and the purposes of the activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions and attitudes of the people of South Lampung language against the use of Indonesian in Daily Lampung Post. The methodology used in this research is quantitative descriptive approach. Analyzed data obtained through direct interviews with respondents. Respondents in this study were 30 of age and a different educational background. Most respondents found Lampung Post is quite appropriate in the use of foreign language vocabulary. Most respondents also argued that the use of foreign languages in Lampung Post will not threaten the position of Indonesian and local languages. From all the answers to the interview questions were given to respondents it can be concluded that the majority of respondents have a positive attitude towards Indonesian. This is evident from the answers of respondents who have the awareness to put Indonesian compared to a foreign language and want the mass media (LampungPost) more attention to the use of the Indonesian language.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research and documentation study that describes the content type of the form and the trend themes raised in Malay song lyrics in West Kalimantan.Data source this study is of Malay songs that add up to 65songs that come from the five major cultural Malay Malay Pontianak, West Kalimantan, namely Sambas, Ketapang, Sanggau Kapuas Hulu, and which have the particularity of the Malay dialect all its own. The results of this study showed there are 20 songs traditional and modern songs with the theme of 45 and its uniqueness of each. Themes reflected in traditional Malay songs are generally themed history, folklore, and traditional relations. However, there was a shift of theme in the modern Malay songs which began to lead the pride of ethnicity, the potential of natural resources, politics, tourism, and social reasons.

Abstract

BIPA development could not be separated from the material development. Teaching materials are also needed in every learning process and every level of education. During this time, the preparation of teaching materials and manufacturing is focused in an effort to introduce Indonesian culture is intended for adult level foreign speakers. The child learners also need special attention since many institutions also teaches Indonesian language to children. The focus of this paper is to provide sample materials aimed at teaching Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) for children. The materials presented are materials that match the characteristics of children young learners. Preparation of material well adapted to the principles of materials development for children who should be full of images and colors to attract more children to learn the language.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the curse of being a stone in five legends in Indonesia. The problem of this research is how do curses become stones in five legends in Indonesia? This study uses the theory of oral literature with the method of descriptive analysis method. The conclusions of this study, namely the curse in the five Indonesian legends, is the influence of the totality of thinking that there is greater power beyond human power so that objects outside human beings have a unified relationship with humans.

Abstract

The Keraton Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Palace) has 10 soldiers whose names are different. Among them, Bugis Soldiers, Surakarsa Soldiers, Mantrijero Soldiers, Ketanggung Soldiers, Nyutra Soldiers, Prawiratama Soldiers, Jagakarya Soldiers, Patangpuluh Soldiers, Dhaeng Soldiers, and Wirabraja Soldiers. Each soldier’s name became the name of the village/hamlet in the City of Yogyakarta today. This toponimi study focuses on the names of the villages of the Yogyakarta Palace. Viewed from the origin of the language, the names of the village came from Sanskrit, Bugis, and Kawi. Insight into the names of the Yogyakarta  Palace village is useful for foreign speakers who are learning the language and culture of Indonesia (BIPA), especially in Yogyakarta. They can learn the origin of the names of the villages, and compare them with other regions in Indonesia, such as in West Java and DKI Jakarta and surronding areas.
