Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menulis yang akan diteliti melalui dimensi writing dan eror yang banyak dihadapi oleh mahasiswa dalam mata kuliah Essay Writing. Penelitian deskriptif dengan desain explanatory digunakan sebagai metode dalam penelitian ini untuk menginvestigasi kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menulis yang akan dianalisis dari nilai menulis dan konstruksi kalimat di dalam esai sebab-akibat. Secara purposive, sebanyak 25 mahasiswa semester empat yang mengikuti mata kuliah Essay Writing menjadi subjek dari penelitian ini. Tes Menulis Esai (EWT) digunakan untuk memperoleh data tulisan mahasiswa. Hasil dari pengumpulan data berbentuk nilai menulis mahasiswa yang dibandingkan dari lima dimensi mahasiswa yaitu (isi, organisasi, struktur bahasa, kosakata, dan aturan bahasa tertulis) and analisis eror pada level kata dan kalimat. Eror yang sudah dianalisa kemudian diklasifikasi berdasarkan tipe error. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dimensi menulis mahasiswa berada pada poin 2-3 berdasarkan rubrik penilaian yang berarti bahwa mahasiswa masih berada pada tingkat penulis dasar dan bawah dasar. Selain itu, eror yang banyak ditemukan dalam esai meliputi penulisan huruf kapital, tanda baca, kalimat tanpa subjek atau predikat, ejaan, persetujuan subjek-predikat, kalimat tidak efektif karena penerjemahan langsung dari Bahasa Indonesia, pemilihan kata, kata benda, kata depan, predikat, kata sifat, artikel, susunan kata, kalimat pasif, dan kepemilikan (‘s). Hasil dari penelitian ini bisa menjadi data dasar bagi guru/dosen untuk mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menulis secara menyeluruh dari dimensi menulis dan tipe-tipe eror dan selanjutnya untuk membantu mahasiswa menulis lebih baik. Kata kunci: kesulitan menulis, dimensi menulis, analisis error, menulis esai

Abstract

            The purpose of the research is to describe the reasoning of the introvert students in junior high school in solving mathematical problems. The type of the research is descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the seventh grade students in junior high school having an introvert personality. The subjects were given the task of solving the problem to know Math reasoning in solving Mathematical problems. The data collection methods used were questionnaire, interview, and test.  The writer then used triangulation to minimize the writer’s subjectivity. The findings indicated that the mathematical reasoning of introvert subject in solving mathematical problems, including the process of gathering the facts related to the problem and then do the analysis, then make a conjecture and submitted arguments to reinforce the conjecture that had been filled and for which the latter is to draw conclusions and validate the conclusions that had been made. The accuracy of the subjects in terms of doing their tasks makes them to re-check the calculations they made. It is therefore, that they did not make a mistake in calculating. Then expertise in writing makes the subject gave a very long answer, full, and clear.Key Words : reasoning, problem solving, and introvert personality

Abstract

Physics  is  an  adaptive  lesson  that  gives  students  basic  knowledge  of natural law. Some of students in junior high school and senior high school think that physics is not fun lessons because the process of physics learning in school the theacher  just  give  formula  to  remember  not  the  right  physics  concept. Learning about physics should give direct experince to develop science knowledge and understand surrounding natural scientifically. One of the physics learning activities supposed to meet that is learning cycle 5E with guide note. Learning cycle 5E with guide note focused on improving students’ motivation . After administering this learning cycle 5E with guide note method,  the result  is  (1)  improving  students’  activity (2)  improving  students’ achievement of the VII B grade of State Junior High School 11 Jember at the 2011/2012 academic year. Abstract

This study investigated how STAD strategy could be implemented to enhance the students’ mathematics achievement on the concept of the shape of thecylinder curvature facefor the first semester students in grade IX,MTs. SA Miftahul Huda Mayangan, in the academic year 2014/2015. The research design adopted for this study is classroom action research (CAR)consisted two cycles. The data collection for this action research study took many forms; observation, interview, test, and documentation. The result of data analysis on cycle 1 showed that the students’ score after altering into percentage gained only 76%. It was very small percentage to fulfill the criterion of minimum completeness (KKM) 75%. Based on the result on the first cycle, it was necessary for the researcher to conduct the next cyclical procedure. In cycle 2,the percentage of the students’ score was significantly increased. It was derived 88%.Accordingly, it proved that the target of CAR success could finally be achieved. Therefore, the next action could be stopped.Keywords: STAD, area of shape, students’ achievement.

Abstract

The implementation of multiculturalism value through group councelling to increase tolerent behaviour among the students at SMK Admadja Jember. This group councelling involved the tenth and eleventh grade students of SMK Admadja Jember as the subjects. This research was a counselling action research which was implemented in two cycles considering the time span and the researcher’s level of ability. Specifically, action cycle II was conducted due to the absence of intended target. In general,the result of this action research can be concluded that the implementation of multiculturism value could increase tolerant behaviour among the students of SMK Admadja Jember. It could be seen through how the students could respect others’ opinion, sypathetic manner of expressing opinion, accepting group’s decision, positive view on deversity, and the spirit of togetherness. The subjects considered that deversity was a gift for sharing and supportiveness.Key Words : Multiculturalism  Value, Tolerant

Abstract

Intelligence is a god-gifted to everyone. Intellligence doesn’t mean that you are smart and expert in Science, Mathemathics or English. We have to build this paradigm to our students as the candidate of teachers because the intelligence cannot be measured by those kinds of achievement. To cultivate it, we have to give practical examples in teaching-learning processes by their own creativity and innovation which is in line with the intelligence of the teachers candidate.Keywords :students’ intelligence, media, teaching and learning interaction

Abstract

It is generally difficult for students to understand the subject of managing petty cash fund, especially to understand the materials of bookkeeping patty cash fund. As a teacher, the writer has a very strong will to encourage students to get tremendous learning achievement, at least as the same score as the criterionof minimumcompleteness (KKM). This study is aimed at improving the students’ achievement in managing petty cash fund through the implementation of think, pair, and share strategy at grade XI office administration programs (AP2) of SMK Negeri 1 Lumajang. The findings show that the development of the students’ score has significantly increased, approximately 34,29%. On the basis of research findings, it can be concluded that think, pair, and share strategy can develop their skills in managing petty cash fund.Keywords: petty cash fund, think pair and share strategy, students’ achievement.

Abstract

The present paper reviews some recent approaches which meet to the needs and the characteristics of second and foreign language learners in learning writing. Unlike teaching writing in first language context, teaching writing in second and foreign language context is more challenging and sometime faces more complicated problems. Therefore, teacher needs to use appropriate approach to overcome problem in his/her teaching. There are two different approaches presented in this paper: genre-based approach and lexical approach. Genre-based approach is considered effective due to its linguistic structure which provides learners with a clear idea of what language features should be expressed and how the content should be organized. On the other hand, language classroom which is organized by using lexical principles give the learners awareness to ‘chunk’ to form appropriate expression fluently and effortlessly. In conclusion, teaching writing to second and foreign language learners can’t only apply a single approach, method, or technique. Abstract

Learning models Two Stay Two Stray is the one of a wide range of cooperative learning that expected to provide a new atmosphere for students to improve student achievement and enhance learning activities in the biological activity in particular. The purpose of this study is to analyze student achievement XB class sub concept of environmental pollution in SMA Plus AL-HASAN with the implementation of Two Stay Two Stray learning model and analyze the activities of students during the learning model biology lesson with Two Stay Two Stray sub concept of environmental pollution. The research was conducted in SMA Plus AL-HASAN Panti - Jember on the XB-class standards of competence and basic competences 4 and 4.2. Respondents who studied a total of 39 people. The method that used is Classroom Action Research. Analysys data using Description of Quantitative and One Sample T-test with SPSS 11.5 program. The results obtained in mind that the application of Learning Model Two Stay Two Stray can improve student achievement school class XB SMA Plus AL-HASAN is characterized by the difference between treatments is very significant (P = 0.00, P <0.05). Abstract

This study aims to: (1) improve the students’ critical thinking skills through the implementation of problem solving learning methods using media information, and (2) prove the improvement of the students’ critical thinking skills after the implementation of problem solving learning methods using media information. The research design used in this study was a classroom action research that has been completed in two cycles. The type of action taken is learning Productive Marketing with media-assisted method of problem solving information. The findings show that there is an improvement on the students’ critical thinking skills. The lowest improvement is in the aspect Defining Problems; whereas, the highest improvement is in the aspect of Look and Learn. In the first cycle, the learning outcomes of students showed a maximum value of 95, the average score = 75.4 and a minimum score = 55. In the second cycle the resulted score showed a maximum score was 100, the average value of 80.4 and a minimum value of 70. In the first cycle there are 30 learners who get 73% of the criterion of minimum completeness; whereas, in the second cycle 100%. Thus the problem solving method using information media can be very effective to improve the students’ critical thinking skills at class X Productive Marketing KU 3, SMK 1 Lumajang.Keywords: methods of problem solving, critical thinking skills.
