Abstract

This is an experimental study on the effects of the oral and written informative communication on sex and sexuality. The experiment was conducted at SMA in Bandung, the first class students being the experiment subjects. From the population (340 students), 78 students were picked up at random. The subjects were divided at random into three groups: the "oral" group (the listening group), the "written" group (the reading group), and the control group. Tests were given to the first group and the second group before and after the treatment, while test I and test II were given to the control group. The experiment aimed to test the following hypothesis: (1) There is a significant difference between the oral group and written group in their average knowledge on sex and sexuality; (2) There is a Significant difference between the male group and the female group exposed to both oral informative communication and written informative communication in their average knowledge on sex and sexuality; (3) There is a significant difference between the malegroup and the female group exposed to the oral informative communication, and between the male group and the female group exposed to the written informative communication in their average knowledge on sex and sexuality; (4) There is a significant difference between the male group exposed to the oral informative communication and the male group exposed to the written informative communication, and between the female group exposed to the oral informative communication and the female group exposed to the written informative communication in their average knowledge on sex and sexuality. Having been analyzed by the t and t' tests, it was found that the second hypothesis was not accepted, while the others were accepted. It was also found that: (1) The oral informative communication was more effective than the written informative communication. (2) The oral informative communication was more effective on the male group, and the written informative communication was more effective on the female group.

Abstract

Umaro, ulama and jawara in Menes Banten are local elites, who have important roles and influence in the society. The umaro has a strong influence in the network power of governance, the ulama has a strong influence in the field of religion, and the jawara has a strong influence in the field of culture and traditional customs. This research was conducted using qualitative approach to the elite of umaro, jawara, and ulama. Data is obtained from informants who played the role of umaro, jawara and ulama in the district of Menes Banten by using circumstantial interview, involves observation and document study. Data analysis used a qualitative method pattern. Research result indicated that communication umaro elites towards jawara and ulama couldnot be avoided from management of impression, verbally or nonverball.

Abstract

As pointed out by Dedy Mulyana, a scholar of communication science in Indonesia, communication act is definitely time-bounded. It was expressed in terms su:ch as “wasting time”, “saving time”, or verbatim such as “time is money”, “al-Waktu ka al-syaif”, etc. To explain more about time, Edward T. Hall uses Mandala model which describe time in terms of: biological time, personal time, physical time, metaphysical time, micro time, sync time, sacred time, profane time, and meta-time. There are two concepts of time, e.g. monochromic time and polychromic time. As consequences, communication message must be time-sensitive and designed specifically for communication receiver. This article explores time concept of children, and Islamic concept for Islam, which is uniquely defined and different with other time-concept.

Abstract

Setiap peristiwa komunikasi sebenarnya memiliki potensi sebagai komunikasi antarbudaya karena para peserta yang terlibat di dalamnya memiliki perbedaan kultur sekecil apa pun. Apalagi dalam momentum Ibadah Haji, berbagai ras, bangsa. suku bangsa berbaur dalam ruang dan waktu yang sama. Berbagai perbedaan kultur di kalangan jemaah haji sering menimbulkan kesalahpahaman yang dapat berakibat fatal. Untuk mengeliminasi kesalahpahaman tersebut, yang perlu dilakukan oleh jemaah haji adalah menyadari akan keunikan budaya setiap orang, bangsa, suku bangsa, tidak terjebak etnosentrisme, serta berupaya mengembangkan empati.

Abstract

Seiring dengan transisi politik di Indonesia yang ditandai dengan pergantian kekuasaan ke arah yang lebih demokratis, muncul pertanyaan sampai sejauh mana kadar kebebasan yang telah dinikmati pers bisa diukur? Ini mengingat bahwa salah satu pilar penting tumbuhnyanegara atau masyarakat yang demokratis itu adalah adanya kebebasan pers. Dalam sektor publik, harus diakui bahwa masyarakat Indonesia sedang menuju kehidupan yang semakin demokratis. Namun, dalam sektor pers, ternyata agak berbeda arahnya. Pengalaman empirik selama enam tahun menunjukkan bahwa kebebasan politik belum cukup untuk membawa kehidupan pers yang lebih bebas. Beberapa kasus menunjukkan pers di Indonesia justru lagilagi mengalami ancaman. Ancaman itu muncul dari berbagai kekuatan politik atau ekonomi.

Abstract

Abstrak: Keterampilan berkomunikasi memiliki peranan penting dalam kehidupan anak. Anak dapat menyampaikan berbagai hal yang ada dalam pikiran dan imajinasinya melalui keterampilan berkomunikasi yang ia miliki. Dalam penelitian ini metode bermain peran digunakan sebagai alternatif metode pengajaran untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berkomunikasi anak usia dini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah pembelajaran disampaikan melalui metode bermain peran, anak-anak dapat menyampaikan ide-ide yang mereka miliki dengan lebih baik sehingga keterampilan komunikasi anakpun berkembang dengan optimal. Kata kunci: keterampilan berkomunikasi, anak usia dini, metode bermain peran Abstract: Communication skills have an important role in children’s life. Children convey their mind and imagination through communication skills they have. In this study role play is used as an alternative teaching method to develop early childhood communication skills. The results showed that after learning through role play method, children expressed their ideas better thus their communication skills developed optimally. Keywords: communication skills, early childhood, role play

Abstract

Design piracy, though considered as serious problems, is often overlooked. This phenomenoncommonly found in Third World countries. The government have been have been employing many ways to reduce piracy, such as adopting Intellectual Property Rights. But the effort to combat piracy was challenged by some parties which benefited from such activities. Piracy, in micro perspective, eliminates fair competition and creates unfair competition. The culture of piracy also harassed and submerged the role of law. Law enforcement toward Intellectual Property Rights is a must. The challenge is how to awaken members of society toward the importance of Intellectual Property Rights.

Abstract

Research about gender in advertising has already done a lot, but it more focused on quantitative research. Tourism research being conducted because it relates to culture. Tourism ads showed tourism activities carried out by the community, included many different cultures in each area and this is also relates to social roles. This research is a descriptive qualitative research by using content analysis to examine about the portrayal of women in the tourism advertising. The study was conducted by the deductive approach of gender advertisment categorization according to Goffman. Categorization of Goffman (1979) consisted of Relative Size, Feminine Touch, Function Rank, The Ritualization of Subordination, The Family and  Licenced Withdrawal. The object of this research is Indonesia’s tourism ads uploaded in youtube accounts “ Indonesia.Travel”, since 2010, there are 211 videos uploaded on the account. The samples used for the research are 10 videos. The ads are taken with the technique of purposive and continued by random. The results showed that there is still a depiction of women who defended the role of traditional stereotype, but there are categories that is already starting to show the woman out of the role of stereotype.

Abstract

Komunikasi Pemasaran Terpadu merupakan salah satu bagian integral dan vital dari kegiatan pemasaran dan memainkan peranan penting dalam pertukaran Jaringan. Pada tingkat yang dasar, Komunikasi Pemasaran Terpadu dapat menginformasikan dan membuat kesadaran pengguna yang potensial. Komunikasi berusaha mempengaruhl secara langsung kepada konsumer yang potensial sehingga menyebabkan mereka senang melakukan pertukaran hubungan secara loyal. Di dalam Komunikasi Pemasaran Terpadu, terdapat beberapa faktor yang perlu diperhatikan: faktor persepsi, bauran pemasaran, faktor persepsi dan faktor lingkungan. Selain itu juga terdapat beberapa premis yang perlu dlperhatlkan dalam usaha mempengaruhi perilaku konsumer, yakni: konsumer adalah yang berkuasa. motivasi konsumer dan perilakunya dapat dimengerti melalui penelitian. perilaku konsumer dapat dipengaruhi lewat kegiatan persuasif, dan persuasi terhadap konsumer akan bermanfaat sepanjang pengaruhnya layak, legal, dan bermoral.
