Abstract

Perkembangan budaya politik di Indonesia, sampai saat ini masih sangat menonjolkan kekuatan simbol-simbol, lambang-lambang, dan atribut suatu lembaga politik, ketimbang substansi yang dibawanya. Hal ini menjadikan budaya politik rendah dan minim partisipatif. “Politik kulit” semacam ini sebenarnya membawa berbagai dampak negatif dan bukan model yang bisa dibenarkan dalam sistem negara demokrasi. Komunikasi politik yang demokratis adalah salah satu solusi untuk mengubah kecenderungan tersebut dengan pendekatan bottom up dan prinsip “Saya Oke, Kamu Oke”.

Abstract

Dalam pandangan kritis, individu tidak netral dalam menafsirkan sesuatu, ia amat dipengaruhi kekuatan sosial yang ada di masyarakatnya. Begitu pula dengan wacana berita dalam media, ia sarat pengaruh ideologi tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media berbeda dalam melihat fakta. Realitas yang disajikan kepada masyarakat merupakan olahan dari pandangan, ideologi, pemahaman dan pemaknaan wartawan.

Abstract

As part of marketing activities, advertising played a very important role. Through the means of advertising, a product with all its characteristics and qualities was being introduced to the public. The ad creators competitively search ideas to construct an attractive ad. The depiction of women becomes one of the old-but-believed-to-be-effective-formula for such advertisings. In the world of advertising and marketing, women are not only becoming models for women products, but also for men products. Women figures were depicted beside men models in cigarettes advertising and in turn seemed problematic. A strong and unending debate has been circulating amongst public concerning advertising who significantly exploited women’s sensuality. These kinds of ads are believed degraded women and create negative image for women.

Abstract

A change of power in Indonesia marked a change of paradigm concerning almost every aspect of social political life in the country. Among those changes are the reinterpretation of the government role concerning the information control and freedom of press. As consequences of the strengthening of people power and their awareness to apply social control, press paradigm – including broadcasting- also changed. After 1998 reform, people became aware that broadcasting should be used for the people, by the people, and for the benefit of the people. In accordance with this situation, which is provoked by the elimination of the Ministry of Information, there is a need to establish the Center for Broadcasting Development Studies.

Abstract

For the most part of society, the quality of public service is far from hope. There were so many problems concerning public service today. One among them was the lack of government capabilities to deal with a very large area and numerous characters. For communication studies, a good public service was influenced by an excellent communication system. There are factors to be deal with: the optimum performance of Public Relations, equal distribution of communication/information, easy access for public, easy access for information, stabilized political situation, and the same pattern of thinking between government and communication manager.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe communication as discourse perspective. In this perspective communication is seen an activity to construct of reality into a discourse that some interests entering the discourse. The perspective is to complete to the others ones, first transmissions perspective. Communication is to transmit of messages linearly. Second, perspective of display. Communication is an effort to exhibit many messages for gaining audiences attention. Third, generating of meaning perspective where we use symbols to create meaning. Fourth, ritual perspective which communication as a rites to maintain commonness and solidarity of the participants.

Penyakralan hingga kini belum banyak berubah. Sisa-sisa masa lalu terus saja berlanjut tanpa mencoba menyelami makna tersebut. Peristiwa turun denganja/an mundur meniti tangga setelah menerima bendera pada setiap upacara 17 Agustus, memberi kesan khusus, seolah-olah tokoh sakral tidak boleh dibelakangi (dipantati). Kenyataannya, setelah penerima bendera itu sampai meniti tanah, ia lalu berbalik menghadap ke tiang bendera. tadi, membelakangi juga akhirnya.

Abstract

Technological determinism, as the result of technology innovation, raised a constant debate among scholars concerning its position toward the society: whether it was caused by the society, or the effect of social change. This debate, in the end, produced two kinds of party: those who support echnology, and those who against it, both the optimists or the pessimist one. Those who against technology believed that technology in no other way was created by society. The supporter, reversely, strongly believed that technology shaped society, even determine the future. Both party believed there is interplay between technology and society.

Abstract

The discussion about hate speech is not something new. However, recently it becomes phenomenon that widely spoken. As something that naturally comes out as  a human nature. Nowadays hate speech tends to be harmful because it is supported by new media such as online media and social media. This research try to discuss about hate speech related to religion blasphemy accusation that drags, Basuki Tjahaya Purnama known as Ahok into jail. This paper used qualitative method and rhetoric analysis to analyze the hate speech in online media news related to Ahok’s case. The results are, hate speech came from content posted in website such as online political opinion and news. From ethos aspect, most of the hate speech neglected the ethos aspect which provides the credibility and trustworthiness of the source.; from the pathos aspect, the author of the news are choosing words that triggered anger and negative emotion from its audience; from the logos aspect, most of the hate speech draws it’s readers to logical fallacy due to the lackness of  facts of  its conclusion claim. The Hate speech rhetoric neglects the ethos and logos aspects and it mostly rely on pathos aspect to persuade its readers for hating.

Abstract

Dalam usaha pembangunan nasional, surat kabar sangat berperan besar, karena melalui surat kabar hasil-hasil pembangunan dapat disebarluaskan di seluruh pelosok Tanah Air. Oleh karena itu, surat kabar dalam mengemban tugas sebagai kontrol sosial harus dapat menyampaikan pesan pembangunan agar masyarakat memperoleh gambaran yang jelas dan objektif. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 102 orang yang terdiri atas 34 orang berpenghasilan tinggi, 34 orang berpenghasilan menengah, dan 34 orang berpenghasilan rendah. Dalam usaha mendapat data dipergunakan komunikasi langsung kepada respoden. Data yang terkumpul diolah dengan menggunakan analisis Varians dan regresi serta uji t. Setelah dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik dapat diketahui bahwa status sosial ekonomi, baik secara bersama-sama penghasilan tinggi dan penghasilan menengah serta penghasilan rendah, maupun secara terpisah, mempunyai pengaruh terhadap pemanfaatan surat kabar Kendari Pos di kota Kendari, namun tidak signifikan.
