Abstract The role of food industry as a labor intensive subsector must be able to guarantee labors to provide basic rights such as adequate income social security guarantees for a prosperous and decent life. Based on results of National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) August 2018 showed that this subsector was dominated by labors with inadequate working conditions at 75.13 percent which means their wages received during the month were less than 2/3 the median value of the national average income, Rp1,500,000,- and didn’t get social security guarantees almost three times compared to other industrial subsectors. This paper aims to study the effect tendency of job, company, and individual characteristics toward decent work by using binary logistic regression with data of Sakernas August 2018. The results of this paper with 3,860 labors show that education level is variable with the highest effect toward decent work at food industry. In addition, labors on blue collar occupation, no employment agreement, low education, non profit business with a paid per unit wage system will risk being classified as improper work. The conclusion is generally labors on food industry still called as inadequate worker with low education so that they work on blue collar occupationand it imply to their income social security guarantees. Therefore, investment through education is needed to improve the quality of human capital as workersand finally it can compensate labors to obtain better job feasibility standard.

Abstract This study aims to analyze the effect of Zakat, Infaq and Alms to Poverty. The data used in this study were obtained from the Aceh Central Statistics Agency and the Baitul Mal Aceh. Data analysis used panel data with a Fixed Effect Model regression model for the period 2013-2017 in 23 Regencies / Cities in Aceh Province. The results showed that partially the Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS) variables had a negative and significant effect on poverty in Aceh Province / City with a probability value of 0.0128 less than 0.05. Adjusted R² of 0.99, thus means the variable Zakat, Infaq, Alms (ZIS) is able to explain the poverty variable by 99% and the remaining 1% is influenced by variables or other factors that exist outside the model.

AbstractTraditional norms and gender discrimination are still issues that continue to be inherent in most Indonesian women. This is a barrier for them to get high education and decent work. One problem that still occurs is the large number of female workers who are trapped in the status of unpaid workers. Recorded from 50.08 percent of the participation of female workers in Indonesia, there were around 31.49 percent who were unpaid workers (ILO, 2017). This shows that women workers in Indonesia still have not gotten a decent place in the labor market. This study aims to analyze the effect of education level and marital status on the employment status of women (paid or unpaid) with control variables: age, area of residence, number of household members, presence of children aged less than 5 years, and employment sector. The logistic regression results show that women are more likely to be unpaid workers at 11.4 times than men. Women with low education, working in the agricultural sector and living in rural areas have a higher tendency to become unpaid workers.Providing opportunities for women to obtain a higher education can improve their skills and open up wide opportunities to obtain decent work so that in the end it can reduce the gap between men and women especially in employment.

This research aims to analyse the impact of international reserve and financial deepening on exchange rate stability and to analyze the effectivity of international reserve and financial deepening as exchange rate stabilizer. Vector Error Corection Model (VECM) were used in this research with quarterly data from year 2002:01 to 2015: 04. The result showed that international reserve and financial deeepening have effect on exchange rate. Based on Impulse Response Function (IRF), financial deepening variable is more effective used to stabilise the exchange rate fluctuation because it influences investment which that national output and export. For the further research, it is recommended as in order to capture the negative effect and to the use of the respective variables as an exchange rate stabilizer.

Sharia banking in Indonesia has been started for the last two decades. It was expected to have correlation and to contribute to higher economic growth in Indonesia. This research aimed to investigate the sharia banking intermediation in triggering economic growth in Indonesia. It used quarterly SBIS time-series data, total sharia financing, real sector growth and economic growth for the period of 2000:Q4 to 2012:Q4. Empirical findings indicated long run equilibrium between sharia banking and economic growth. Granger’s causality test implied bi-directional causality between real sector growth and economic growth and one direction causality from total sharia financing into real sector economy and economic growth. Estimation with Vector Error Correctin Model (VECM) tended to be inline with the hypothesis that sharia banking is able to serve as growth engine in Indonesia.

Abstract The main study of research is to analyze the effect of changes in exchange rates of rupiah against share price in Indonesia. This research employed ARDL model and utilized monthly data for the variables of share price, nominal exchange rate, money supply and GDP. Data is generated from Bank Indonesia and Federal Reserve Economic Data webpage (FRED) from 2008 to 2017. The study results found a negative relationship between the exchange rate and stock price. It found convincing evidence that there is no two-way relationship between both parameters. But there is a positive relationship on other variables such as money supply and GDP during this period. On the basis of the research results obtained its current status, Bank Indonesia is recommended as monetary authority and OJK as capital market regulator must be more prudent in coordinating and cooperating to put together policies and strategies to maintain stable monetary policies to prevent unexpected external shocks which would eventually hit the capital market.

AbstractThe achievement of the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia when compared to other countries is still unsatisfactory. Base on UN data, Indonesia is ranked 116th out of 189 countries. The disparity in HDI achievement between regions is also still high. There is a pattern of grouping in the achievement of HDI, where regions with with high HDI are more concentrated in western part of Indonesia. This research was conducted to study how the relationship between the ratio of educators and ratio of health workers to the achievement of HDI with spatial analysis. The control variables used in analyzing these relationships include economic, social, and demographic variables. This study uses secondary data derived from publication of Indeks Pembangunan Manusia, Daerah Dalam Angka , Indikator Kesejahteraan Rakyat and SUSENAS data in 2017 that has been processed by BPS. The unit of analysis in this study is all regency/city in Indonesia. By using a spatial lag regression model, the results of this study show that there is a significant spatial relationship between regency/cities in Indonesia where when is an increase of HDI in a regency/city it will have a positive effect on the regency/city in the surrounding. The ratio of educators at the elementary level and the ratio of health workers to both doctors or non-doctors has a positive and significant effect on HDI achievement. The comparison between spatial regression model and ordinary least square (OLS) model shows that the spatial model is better used to analyze HDI.

Abstract This study aimed to determine the effect of population numbers, GRDP and inflation on local revenues. The model used was the OLS method using panel data. The results showed that the population had a positive and significant effect on the Local Revenue of regencies and cities t-test which showed that the population had positive regression coefficient of 5.728641 and significance value smaller than 0.05, that is equal to 0.0001. GRDP had positive and significant effect on the local revenues of regencies and cities in Aceh. It can be seen in the results of the calculation of the t-test which showed that GRDP had positive regression coefficient of 4.473196 and significance value smaller than 0.05, that is equal to 0.0001, while inflation had a negative and significant effect on the local revenues of the regencies and cities. The regression coefficient value of -0.023161 that inflation had a negative effect on local revenues. If there is an increase in inflation of 1%, it will cause a decrease in local revenues of 0.023161%. Based on the 2-sided test on the individual parametric significant test on the inflation rate variable, The t-count value was smaller than the t-table which was -0.886238 and a significant value of 0.3905 0.05. The coefficient of determination or goodness of fit is obtained by a number of 0.888824. The contribution of all independent variables in explaining the dependent variable is 88.8 percent. The remaining 11.2 percent is explained by other variables outside this research model.
