Abstract

Metallic-based materials are commonly used as bone plates as well as orthopedic implants, due to their mechanical properties. This study aims to perform a finite element analysis based on three-point bending test data according to the ASTM F382-99 standard. The dimensions of bone plate material was 120 mm x 14 mm x 5 mm (length x width x thickness) with 6 and 10 screw holes. The load given to the plate analysis was 986.89 N with element size of 0.55 mm. The hexahedron elements have the total number of 62,179 elements for 6 holes and 62,960 elements for 10 holes. The total number of elements of the tetrahedron were 63,609 elements for 6 holes and 64,822 elements for 10 holes. Also, finite element analysis for plates with 6 holes and 10 holes using hexahedron elements yielded a total deformation of 6.1963 mm and 6.7852 mm, respectively. Furthermore, the tetrahedron element for plates with 6 holes and 10 holes resulted in a total deformation of 6.1762 mm and 6.7651 mm, respectively. Based on the above data, it can be concluded that the finite element analysis calculation for bone plate using hexahedron elements is more accurate when compare to the tetrahedrons.

Abstract

Data from Bank Indonesia shows that the rupiah exchange rate against dollar weakened at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. This exchange rate volatility is an important problem in the Indonesian economy. Therefore, the prediction model for the exchange rate against the dollar is needed during the Covid-19 pandemic to predict the exchange rate during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This study is proposed to compare the prediction of the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar using the GA-based Neural Network algorithm and the PSO-based Neural Network algorithm. Initially the data was collected in the period 2019 to 2021, then the data is preprocessed. Validation used the k-fold validation technique with a ratio of 70:30, while the evaluation is carried out with the output of RMSE. The results showed that the performance of PSO and GA was the same, namely 0.020 +/- 0.006.

Abstract

The high octane number and oxygen content of butanol can improve combustion more completely and the residual gas resulting from engine combustion is more environmentally friendly. This study examines the effect of adding 5% to 15% butanol at 5% intervals on a gasoline engine with an EGR system with premium fuel on emissions and exhaust gas temperatures. The exhaust gas analyzer was used to measure the combustion gases. Exhaust gas temperature was measured using a thermocouple mounted on the exhaust manifold. The mixture of P85B15 reduced CO levels by 68.11% and HC by 37.50% compared to P100. However, CO2 emissions and exhaust gas temperatures increased. The use of hot and cold EGR generally increased engine exhaust emissions. However, the exhaust gas temperature decreased by 4.72% when the engine used cold EGR and 1.33% when the engine used hot EGR.

Abstract

Overhaul is a method of engine maintenance where the engine is dismantled and all components are checked and replaced if there is damage. In carrying out overhaul activities, engine trainer  tools are needed, therefore the operator can reach the components in the pinch point. Engine trainers on the market are usually only specific to one engine. However, in this study, a universal engine trainer was designed with various adapter arms that can rotate on one axis. This engine trainer is equipped with a buffer that is useful for reducing vibration when the engine is started. The design of the engine trainer frame was tested for strength using a static load simulation with an engine load of 400 N. The simulation showed that the frame deflection due to the load was 0.7781 mm. This value can be said to be safe from a static load test.

Abstract

Studies on the use of animal waste as charcoal ingredient in the needs of activated charcoal material has been carried out and developed. Activated charcoal is produced through activation process at a certain temperature, condition, and time in order to creat a higher carbon content in charcoal . One of the important factors in the manufacture of activated charcoal is the temperature during the production process. The purpose of this study is to discuss the influence of temperature factor of mussel shells and beef bones on water content, ash content, volatile matter and fixed carbon during the charcoal production process. The research is carried out through experimental method of making chorcoal with temperature variations of 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 oC. The result of the experiment shows the highest ash content and water content found respectively in beef bone charcoal of 800 oC which is 98,697 %, and of 400 oC which is 4,942 %, while the highest volatile matter and fixed carbon levels are found in clam shell charcoal of 800 oC which is 6,717 %, and of 500 oC which is 43,282 %. The result concluded that the effect of the temperature of the production process affects the water content, ash, volatile matter and fixed carbon.

Abstract

National Land Agency received requests for land rights every day. The letters can be submitted through two stages of acceptance and archiving. Still using conventional systems makes data retrieval requires relatively more time. This research aims to design and build an information system data archiving for incoming request at the National Land Agency. The software has been designed with login feature, data management land owners and land owner data search and print feature data. Analysis of system requirements using object-oriented method which uses the use-case diagram in order to illustrate the functionality of the system and some of the criteria of non-functional requirements are also outlined. The next step was the coding implementation and evaluation of the system built. The system development method used was the prototyping method. The selection of this method was intended, therefore the client can get a clear picture of the system being built. Evaluation was conducted in the developer and the user environment. The evaluation in the user environment was done by distributing questionnaires covering three parameters namely the usefulness of the application, ease of use and user satisfaction. The results showed that the information systems built have a useful value (85.7%) and are easy to use (100%), therefore it satisfied the users.

Abstract

One of the problems of lecture assignments based on drawing is drawing technique. The function of the learning software is to be the basic media of the teacher in explaining the material. This research aims to analyze the feasibility of learning software, namely computer aided design. Research techniques applied in this research are through reference sources from previous studies. The feasibility test method uses validity techniques that already have parameters in determining the feasibility of the test. Results from this study compared to the results of analysis from previous studies showed 78.6% (can be categorized as feasible). In addition, computer aided design learning software in 3D mini ragum has a validation result of 69% (can be categorized as feasible). Then it can be concluded that the learning software used today can support the delivery of materials that will be given.

Abstract

National electrical energy needs are increasing every year. This is accompanied by an increasingly massive use of fossil energy as a power plant. The government is targeting a share of new and renewable energy (EBT) of at least 23% by 2025. As a tropical country, Indonesia has a large potential for new and renewable energy, which mostly consists of solar energy with an average daily radiation of 4.8 kWh/m2/day. The design of a solar power plant (PLTS) at SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta is an effort to utilize NRE and can be used as a model for environmentally friendly schools for similar public institutions and the general public. This PLTS uses a hybrid system with a generating capacity of 1230 Wp, SCC 60A, 24 V 200 Ah battery and a 2400 W hybrid inverter. Using analysis methods with PVSyst and RetScreen simulations, this PLTS generates electricity of 1,653.2 kWh/year. With an initial investment of IDR 25,186,000, the net present value is IDR 1,210,272 and the payback period is 24 years.

Abstract

Gas to Liquid transformer oil with iso-paraffinic as the main constituent is an alternative insulating medium with fewer impurities, therefore its insulating strength is increasing. This study aims to determine the relationship of changes in the dielectric characteristics of transformer oil to changes in the chemical characteristics of gas to liquid oil. The object of research for gas to liquid oil is treated as the actual condition of the transformer at a temperature of 1000C, then thermal aging was carried out with temperatures of 1200C and 1500C starting from 362 hours to 1008 hours. the dielectric loss value of transformer oil still met the standard value used, namely ASTM D924 of 0.0015%, but the resistivity value was not in accordance with the standard specified by IEC 60442 which was 60 G????m. The value of chemical characteristics such as water content is above the ASTM D1533 standard of 35 mg/kg, the value of the acid content of the oil is above the ASTM D974 standard of 0.20 mg KOH/g, and the color scale value exceeds the predetermined limit of ASTM D1500 by 0,5.

Abstract

Community economic activities that encourage motorized vehicles are getting higher. This exacerbates dependence on fossil fuels and air pollution. The outside air that is contaminated with exhaust gases from combustion products is very dangerous for human health. Motorized vehicles such as motorcycles are the largest cause of air pollution. Alcohols have high octane number and low viscosity. The use of ethanol and methanol alcohols is very diverse, so they are easy to obtain. Therefore, alcohol ethanol and methanol are suitable as premium fossil fuel mixtures. This study aims to observe the CO and HC emission characteristics of the gasoline engine using a premium-alcohol mixture of ethanol, methanol. The alcohol concentration was varied from 5% to 15% at 5% intervals. The petrol engine is operated at 2000, 3000, and 4000rpm. Commercial Gas Analyzers are used to measure CO and HC emissions coming out of the exhaust. The results of the observations present the CO and HC emissions of the engine with premium-ethanol fuel, methanol is lower than pure premium (P100). CO emissions from PE15 fuel decreased to 66,30%, and PM15 decreased to 90,63%. Meanwhile, PE15 fuel HC emissions decreased by 58,94%, and PM15 decreased by 68,60%.
