Abstract

The main objective of this study is to examine relationship between electricity consumption from 4 sectors which are household, commercial, industrial, transportation toward economic growth using data from 2001 to 2023 by applying the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model. Other variables such as capital and labor that affect economic growth are also added. Data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics, World Bank. To see the relationship between variables, a Granger causality test is carried out. Modeling using the ARDL method is used to see long-term and short-term relationships. Furthermore, forecasting is also carried out to see the achievement of economic growth targets. The findings that commercial electricity consumption, industrial electricity consumption, transportation electricity consumption have a one-way causal relationship with economic growth or the growth hypothesis accepted. While household electricity consumption does not have a causal relationship with economic growth. Based on the ARDL method, there is a long-term relationship. Electricity consumption scenario of each sector can achieve the economic growth target with the household sector 20.4%, commercial 8.9%, industry 40% and transportation 28.3%. and constant capital growth of 2% per year, average increase in the number of workers of 2% per year.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines how Islamic social finance instruments can achieve Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) by addressing energy poverty and climate change through sustainable energy access in developing countries. Design/Methodology/Approach – The research uses comprehensive framework analysis, integrating Islamic finance principles with sustainable development objectives. A conceptual framework examines input mechanisms (zakat, waqf, voluntary contributions), process mechanisms (resource mobilization, project development, implementation), and impact measures, supported by case studies from Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. Findings – Islamic social finance offers significant sustainable energy financing potential: zakat enables renewable energy infrastructure, clean energy equipment, subsidies, and training for underprivileged communities; waqf supports large-scale infrastructure through land utilization and long-term renewable projects. Case studies show successful implementations including Indonesian pesantren solar panels, Jordanian refugee camp energy solutions, Malaysian mosque solar systems, and Bangladeshi LPG programs. Challenges include limited institutional capacity, regulatory constraints, and stakeholder resistance. Originality/Value – This research provides the first comprehensive framework integrating Islamic social finance with SDG 7, offering practical guidance for leveraging zakat and waqf to address energy poverty while supporting climate mitigation, with actionable policy recommendations

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has driven the emergence of cryptocurrency as an increasingly popular investment alternative, particularly among Generation Z, who have grown up in the digital era. Despite the significant growth in crypto investors, the behavior and factors influencing Generation Z's interest and investment decisions remain insufficiently understood. This study examines the influence of knowledge, risk perception, and social media on investment interest and the impact of interest on cryptocurrency investment decisions. Using a quantitative approach with an associative design, data were collected from 150 Generation Z respondents in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that knowledge has a significant positive effect on interest, while risk perception has a significant adverse effect. Social media, on the other hand, does not significantly influence investment interest. Interest is shown to have a significant positive impact on investment decisions. The developed model demonstrates good reliability and validity, with an R² value of 77.1% for investment decisions. Ultimately, Generation Z's investment behavior is shaped by financial literacy and risk perception rather than mere social media exposure, highlighting the importance of educational interventions and adaptive policies.

Abstract

The development of financial technology (fintech) plays an important role in supporting the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) especially in border areas. The study aims to analyze the factors influencing fintech acceptance by following the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), focusing on perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and attitude toward use (ATU) toward behavioral intention to use (BIU). Mixed methods was applied with embedded design involving 90 MSME respondents in Bengkayang as well as in-depth interviews with 12 MSME respondents, including three migrants in the Malaysian border area. Quantitatively, the results show that both PU, PEOU, and ATU positively affect BIU, thus ATU is proven to mediate the relationship between PU and PEOU on BIU. Qualitatively, MSMEs agree with fintech that is beneficial and facilitates, but the obstacles encountered are limitations in infrastructure, financial literacy, and the manual recording by business actors. The findings also indicate the readiness in border areas of Malaysia because facilities such as infrastructure, regulations, and social norms have supported the adoption of technology there, whereas in Indonesia, it’s still hindered by structural and cultural factors. The research extends the TAM by integrating culture and border context in fintech adoption. Practically, this study emphasizes the need for digital and financial literacy supported by infrastructure for MSME actors. The government also needs to promote inclusive and collaborative policies between financial institutions, fintech providers, and local communities to increase more equitable financial adoption.
