Abstract

Fish as one of the aquatic biota can be used as an indicator of the level of pollution that occurs in the waters. The process of transferring heavy metals from seawater into the body of a fish is very likely to occur, which in turn will adversely affect the fish and humans who consume it. This study aims to determine and determine the levels of lead metal (Pb) on skipjack tuna that are traded at the paotere fish auction site in the city of Makassar with laboratory analysis techniques using organoleptic samples in the form of skipjack meat. Pb heavy metal analysis has been carried out in the samples of skipjack fish using atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) method. The initial preparation of the footage is done with the fish being washed, meat taken, dried, pounded and filtered to pass 100 mesh, dissolved with the Teflon bomb technique digested until the sample solution is ready for analysis. Analysis parameters with SSA include optimum conditions of analysis, elemental calibration curves, range of concentrations used, feasibility of the test tool and validation of the test method. The results of research on lead levels in 10 samples of skipjack meat were found to contain lead content varied between 0.006 - 0.0486 mg / kg, in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 7387: 2009 the maximum limit of lead metal contamination in food was 0.4 mg / kg. Based on the results of the study, skipjack fish at the Makassar city paotere fish auction contain lead with lead levels still below the threshold set by SNI 7387: 2009, so it is recommended to the community to consider the quality of fish before consuming and to the relevant government agencies to do supervision in order to improve the preservation of the underwater world.

Abstract

The research is motivated because shrimp paste is one of the processed food products that has a fairly complete nutritional content, especially the iodine content contained in the raw material itself both from fish and shrimp. The purpose of this study is to find out how much iodine levels in shrimp paste using the spectrophotometric method, this research is experimental with a purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of examination of iodine content analysis of 4 shrimp paste samples carried out at the Pharmacy Instrumentation Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of East Indonesia Makassar and analyzed by qualitative and quantitative tests it can be concluded that there were differences in the results of the four samples where samples A = 0.078 ppm or mg / g, sample B = 0.084 ppm or mg / g, sample C = 0.088 ppm or mg / g, and sample D = 0.085 ppm or mg / g and these results indicate iodine presence in all four shrimp paste samples. The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in iodine levels from the four shrimp paste samples with a value of iodine content which is low compared to the normal value determined by SNI at 30-80 ppm or mg/g.

Abstract

Malaria is one of the public health problems in Indonesia. Although malaria morbidity and mortality rates in Indonesia currently tend to decline, however, the government views malaria as still a threat to public health status, especially for poor people living in remote areas. In malaria endemic areas where malaria morbidity is still very high. Malaria diagnosis can be established by microscopic examination which is a standard Gold examination. In addition, Tets or Rapid Test immunochromatography can also be used as an alternative examination. Research has been conducted to compare the Microscopic method and the Immunochromatography Test method for malaria testing. This study aims to determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value of malaria examination method Immunochromatography Test. The study was conducted at the Lacasino medical Center Clinical Laboratory, as many as 20 samples from patients suspected of malaria and obtained 8 positive samples Immunocromatography Test method and Microscopic method, 5 negative samples with Immunocromatography Test method and Microscopic method, 4 samples microscopic negative method and 3 negative sample methods Immunochromatography Test. The diagnostic test showed a sensitivity of 84%, a specificity of 55%, a positive predictive value of 21% and a negative predictive value of 29%, so that the method of Imunochromatography Test could be used as a filter test or screening test.
