Abstract

Parents attention gives a big role in students' learning success. But in reality there are still many students who have not received the attention of parents. This study aims to describe (1) parental attention, (2) student achievement, and (3) examine the relationship of parental concern with student achievement. This research uses descriptive correlational method. The study population was 432 students in grade XI and XII of SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang and a sample of 208 students used stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire parental attention and learning achievement seen from the semester 2 grades of the 2018/2019 school year. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment techniques to determine the relationship of parental attention to student achievement through the statistical program SPSS for windows release 20.0. The results showed that (1) parental attention was in the medium category, (2) student achievement was in the high category, (3) there was a significant positive relationship between parental attention and student learning achievement with a coefficient of 0.137 with a significant value of sig. ( 2-tailed) of 0.048 and Pearson Correlation value of 1 with a weak relationship level.

Abstract

Coping is an effort to manage burdensome situations, expand effort to overcome or reduce stress. Coping that focuses on aimed at reducing or manging emotional stresses related to the situation. The purpose of this study is to describe student coping in working on scripts viewed from emotional focused coping and problem focused coping. The type of research used is descriptive research. The research population of the students of the Faculty of Education, Padang State University, who worked on their thesis in 2019 from the 2012-2015 batch of 790 students. Samples were taken using proportional random sampling technique, so that a total sample of 266 students was obtained. The study was conducted by administering the questionnaire instrumen. Data were analyzed by percentage analysis. The study shows the results (1) coping students in worling on the thesis as a  whole is in the low category, (2) coping students in working on the thesis seen from emotional focused coping in in the lo category, (3) coping students in working on the thesis seen from problem focused coping is at low category.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still students who are not ready to become guidance and counseling teachers, students are used as substitute teachers, there are students who do not get guidance from supervisors or tutor teachers as long as students carry out field counseling and guidance practices in schools. This study aims to describe the perceptions of students towards the implementation of field practice guidance and counseling in schools FIP UNP in Padang Semester July-December 2018.This research is a type of descriptive research using quantitative methods. The population of this research is BK students who have participated in Semester July-December 2018 as many as 98 students and the research sample uses saturated sample technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques.The findings of this study as a whole indicate that students 'perceptions of the implementation of PLBKS are in the good category, and perceptions based on each aspect (1) Students' perceptions based on aspects of preparation for implementation of field practice guidance and counseling in schools are in the good category (54.08%). (2) Student perceptions based on aspects of implementation of field practice guidance and counseling students in Schools are in the good category (62.24%). (3) Student perceptions based on aspects of guiding students implementation of field practice guidance and counseling in schools in Schools are in the good category (46.94%). (4) Student perceptions based on evaluation aspects of implementation of field practice guidance and counseling in schools activities in schools are in the good category (56.12%).Based on the results of the study it is recommended that prospective students take part in field practice guidance and counseling to be able to improve their knowledge, competence, and skills so that they can carry out field practice activities properly.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of students who cheat in the high category. Cheating behavior is cheating to get exam answers by justifying any means and getting them through outside information. One factor that is thought to influence is academic anxiety. This study basically aims to: (1) describe student cheating behavior, (2) describe student academic anxiety, and (3) test a significant positive relationship between academic anxiety and cheating behavior on students. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational type. The population of this study was 534 students of Padang 4 Junior High School enrolled in the July-December semester of the 2019/2020 school year and a sample of 169 students were selected by Stratified Random Sampling. The instrument used was the Academic Anxiety questionnaire with a reliability of 0.826 and the Cheating Behavior questionnaire with a reliability of 0.914. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques and Pearson Product Moment techniques with the help of the SPSS program for Windows 20. The findings of the study revealed that: (1) Students' academic anxiety was in the moderate category, (2) Cheating behavior was in the moderate category, (3) and there was a significant positive relationship between acadmic anxiety and cheating behavior in students with a correlation coefficient of 0.938 and a significance level 0,000.

Abstract

Self-concept one's view of himself which involves what he knows and feels about his behavior, the contents of his mind, and how his behavior affects other people. Individuals who develop their self concepts well will grow in self-confidence, brave, passionate in carrying out activities including learning, have self-confidence, dare to get along, often present themselves, become an independent person and have a positive view of him. The purpose of this study is to describe the self-concept of cadets about the majors they occupy viewed from aspects of knowledge, expectations and assessments. The type of research used is descriptive research. The population of the research is 590 cadets of SMK. Samples were taken using stratifed random sampling technique, so as to get a total sample of 238 cadets/i. The study was conducted by administering the questionnaire instrument. Data were analyzed by percentage analysis. The research findings show the results of (1) the self concept of cadets about the majors they occupy as a whole is in quite good category, (2) the cadets' self concept of the majors they occupy is seen from the knowledge is in the quite good category (3) concepts cadets themselves about the majors they occupy seen from expectations in the category of less good 4) cadets self-concept about the majors they occupy seen from the assessment in the category is quite good.

Abstract

Each individual basically requires the fulfillment of physical anda psychological needs wekk one of which is sexsual needs. But in fulfillment there are individuals who fulfill it in a deviant way. One of the deviant sexsual behaviors is homosexsual behavior. Homosexsual are individuals who have sexsual orientation of the sam sex. Women who have a sense of interest in women are called lesbians. Basically, an individual is born in a state of nature, and no one violates that nature, unless it is influenced by certain factors that cause the individual to leave the predetermined nature. This study aims to look at the factors underlying lesbian behavior seen from family, social environment, bad past experiences, and knowledge of religious norms and social norms prevailing in society. This study uses qualitative researsh methods in the form of case studies. The subject of this study consisted of two person. Types and sources of data used in this study include interviewing the subject, observing the subject’s behavior during the interview and teh subject’s social environment. The research instrument used was an interview and observation guide. In describing teh factors underliying the lesbian of money data analysis, three stages are used, including; (1) data reduction; (2) data display (data display); and (3) conclusion drawing/verification (conclusion drawing/verifiying), while the data analysis technique used in this study is a tehmatic analysis by transcribing interviews that have been verbalized. The results revealed that the faktors underlying the subject of being lesbian are as follows; (1) Factors of family background that are not harmonious, (2) Unfavorable social environment factors, (3) Faktors of poor past experience with the opposite sex.

Abstract

Authoritarian parenting is characterized by the characteristics of the attitude of parents who are rigid and hard in applying the rules and discipline, the discipline will be realized through coaching from an early age, since young, starting from the family environment through education that is embedded from a young age which is increasingly united in themselves with increasing age, therefore in addition to getting fostered from school most parents use an authoritarian parenting pattern to foster and educate child discipline early on. This study aims to examine the relationship of authoritarian parenting with student discipline. This research is a descriptive correlational research with quantitative methods. Sampling in this study used stratified random sampling with a sample of 216 students. The research instrument used was a questionnaire for parental authoritarian parenting and student discipline. The results showed that (1) parenting mostly tends to apply authoritarian parenting (2) there is a positive relationship between parental authoritarian parenting with student discipline.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition from childhood to adulthood. In this case the change in social interaction and self-control is influenced by one's self-concept. By having a positive self-concept students are able to accept their condition and maximize their potential. However, in reality there are still students in the field who have a negative self-concept that feels themselves are insignificant, are very sensitive to criticism and feel pessimistic every time they encounter a problem. The concept of self is an individual's perception of himself, his abilities, and one of the determinants of someone in being good or bad so that it can cause changes in knowledge, attitudes, behavior and it is suspected that one of the factors that influence it is creativity. This study aims to determine the relationship between creativity and self-concept of students of Junior High Shcool 2 Padang. This research is a descriptive correlational research with quantitative methods. A total of 223 students were selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire of creativity and student self-concept questionnaire with a Likert scale model. The results revealed that (1) the creativity of students in Junior High School 2 Padang as a whole was categorized as high (2) the self-concept of students in Junior High School Padang as a whole was categorized as high (3) there was a significant relationship between creativity and the students' self concept in Junior High School 2 Padang. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that school counselors/school counselors be able to provide guidance and counseling services, namely information services and individual counseling services in order to help students who have problems with self-concept.

Abstract

This study aims to describe culture shock and self adjustment on students, and examine the contribution of culture shock to student self adjustment. The population is the international class students of Padang State University as many as 212 students using simple random sampling techniques. The research method uses descriptive and regression. The instruments used were "Inventory Culture Shock" (ICS) with a reliability of 0.74 and "Inventory Self Adjusment Puji and Verlanda" (ISAPUVE) with a reliability of 0.80. The conclusion of this research is that there is a contribution of culture shock to the self adjusmnet of international class students at Universitas Negeri Padang.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of many students who can not interact well in school, don’t respond well when invited to join their friends, even students express with anger, say harsh words, and even violence. One of the factors that influence emotional maturity is social interaction. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the emotional maturity of students, (2) to describe the social interactions of students, (3) to examine the relationship between the emotional maturity of students and the social interaction of students of SMP N 1 Ranah Batahan. This research is a descriptive correlational type of research with quantitative methods. The population of this research is students at SMP N 1 Ranah Batahan. The sample size of 157 students was selected using the Purposive Random Sampling technique. The research instruments used were emotional maturity questionnaire and social interaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques with the help of the SPSS For Windows 20.0 program. The results of this study reveal that (1) students emotional maturity is in the mature category, (2) students social interactions are in the good category, and (3) there is a positive significant relationship between emotional maturity ans students social interaction with an arithmetic value of 0,613. This shows that the value of r count > r table (0,156). These results then the hypothesis Hi: “there is a significant relationship between emotional maturity with social interaction of students in school” can be accepted and Ho is rejected.
