This study aims to explain the learning models of flipped virtual classroom that can be applied in virtual classrooms in discourse analysis in Translation courses. When teaching, the learning model is explained by using video as an appropriate and efficient choice pattern to achieve learning objectives. Flipped virtual classroom is a learning model that transfers synchronous virtual classroom models to asynchronous virtual classroom models. The research method in this discourse analysis in Translation course was through literary sources. The purpose of the research is to provide information about virtual learning methods as a means of enhancing learning and language proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia combined with translation reflection theory. The virtual learning model can be combined with variations of learning models such as: Problem-based Learning, Inquiry-based Learning, Project-based Learning, Research-based Learning. In conclusion, through the choice of an asynchronous virtual classroom learning model and the application of discourse analysis in Translation as a reflection activity in translation, students are able to make a more detailed and deeper translation analysis.

Teaching Speaking effectively is one of problems in the field of language teaching. Many teachers and schools are frustated in activating students’ speaking ability. We need a research to find an appropriate teaching method and teaching strategy to handle the problem. This qualitative research was applied by using system perspective. Theoretically, system perspective is a study of system by questioning: how and why a system entirely works as it should be. The researcher will come into the system, observing how the bilingual engineering is applied. The object of the research will be focused on observing the forms of bilingual engineering and all parties’ opinion related to applying bilingual program. The researcher also did literature study as a comparative study especially related to bilingual theory. The result of the research shows that the program is success. It is shown by the good satisfaction level. Satisfaction will be able to improve school’s academic achievement. Finally, the researcher believes that the application of the bilingual program has a significant implication to the school’s overall achievement.

Recently the issue of integrating religion view into all life aspects has emerged rapidly. It has something to do with building especially children’s character since they were a child. Moreover, cases of students who lack of norms and attitudes are growing immensely. Hence, the integration of religion in this case Islamic value into all subjects at school is urgently needed. In English Language Teaching (ELT), immersing Islamic value has been constrains by English Teachers because of the limitation of knowledge. Therefore, this paper presents and discusses the values and ethics in Islam its forms and sources. It shades more lights on the infusion of Islamic values and ethics in ELT, the role of teachers, challenges faced in embedding Islamic values into English materials. This paper uses qualitative descriptive research. Library research was used by taking into account some journals and sources related with instilling Islamic values in English teaching. The data then is explained by using descriptive analysis. Finally, this study concludes with some recommendations for tracking the challenges such as inserting exercise with Islamic values in the English topics, using Islamic names for person, event or places, connecting the relevant verse of Holy Book or using it as the material to be translated and using English books containing Islamic messages.

This study is intended to analyze variations of formative assessment strategies applied in Language Evaluation class. The class was taught by an English native speaker. A descriptive qualitative method was employed in the study in which interviews and classroom observations were conducted to collect the data. In addition, syllabus and materials used for the class were also used as the supporting instruments in the study. The findings set out that various kinds of formative assessment used in the respective class. They were oral question, choral questioning, a quiz, Think-Pair-Share, Think-Pair-Write-Share, pair work and group work. The delivery of each assessment technique are differed in each lesson, but are always preceded with questions before a specific technique used. The study advocates that formative assessment in higher education is highly suggested, yet real challenges lie for lecturers to apply.

The aim of this research is to analyze empirically English writing skill of Senior High School students. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The population of this research is the second grade students from SMA Yaspen Tugu Ibu in Depok. The sample was taken through simple random sampling of which 25 students as samples of this research. For collecting the data, the instruments used in this research were writing test and interview. The writing test was conducted to obtain the writing skill indicators, while the interview was carried out to elicit information of students’ problems in writing. The result of this research explained that students’ English writing skill was definitely good at SMA Yaspen Tugu Ibu Depok. There were 88% of students with scores more than 50 and only 12 % with scores less than 50. In conclusion, the students’ writing skill at SMA Yaspen Tugu Ibu is considered to be high category in English writing skill.

Writing is one of the abilities that students must have in learning English. But in reality, it is not as easy as we imagined, many students who still have difficulty in writing. They also make some errors in writing, such as errors in grammar. In this research, the formulation of the problem is about types of grammatical errors that students often make in writing descriptive text. The purpose of this study is to determine the grammatical errors that students make in writing descriptive text. The method used in this study was qualitative descriptive and the subjects of the study were all 7th-grade students of SMPN 05 Tamansari. The data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. Based on the data analysis, findings have shown that the highest grammatical errors that students often make is in accordance to verb-verb groups (33.98%), the second is about sentence structure (12.11%), the third is noun-noun groups (10.15%), and the last is on the errors of preposition (7.17 %).

This research examines the novel ‘The Great Expectation’. Researchers are interested in analyzing this novel because it is a picture of real life, especially life in the United Kingdom in the days of Queen Victoria. As a realistic writer, Charles Dickens is through people’s descriptions reflect reality in his life time. This research uses the theory of semiotics which is collaborated with Karl Marx’s theory which reveals class strata. In the science of semiotics, everything, even humans can be made a sign, which can be developed into a myth of life. Seeing from the main actor’s novel, Pip, Everyone still has a lot to learn, such as his kindness, strength, and optimism. Individual growth is the process of growing into a perfect self. Although Pip’s great hopes are disappointing, he finally returns to good moral character, and starts a new life. In addition, this study analyzes the style of the main character Pip which has its own points in interpreting the style of dress. In this novel, researchers want to prove that the style of dress can be a tool to prove the formation of a person’s identity or the identity of a particular group that uses it.

The purposes of this research are as follows: to obtain data and to analyze the effects of the implementation of Duolingo mobile application in English vocabulary. The research was held at SDN 02 Ciputat. All data variables were taken through tests. For vocabulary mastery tests, the data was taken in the questionnaires form. The method used was to conduct a system quality test (Software Quality Assurance) of software quality based on the factors and the criteria established. The data shows that the application gets a score with a pretty good predicate (73,8%), so learning media using the Duolingo mobile application can be applied especially for students in understanding English.

The purpose of this study is to find learners’ perceptions of online English learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has made closure to schools and universities all over the world and online learning is a way of constraining the spread of COVID-19 virus. The study used a descriptive method by surveying 108 students from Management and Informatics programs of Institut Bisnis & Informatika Kosgoro 1957 (IBI K57). The data were collected through questionnaires by instruments consisting of learners’ perceptions about the effectiveness of learning English online, the accessibility of internet during English online learning, the technical performance of lecturers to teach English online, and the level of difficulty of language skills to learn online. The validity of the questionnaire was tested by using expert opinions. The results of the study indicated shifting face-to-face learning to online learning particularly for English classes is also an effective way during the pandemic, the accessibility of the internet in online learning, it is an important factor should exist during learning activities, the students assumed positively that most lecturers know how to teach English online learning by using online platforms used in IBI K57, and the learners perceived that listening section is the most difficult skill to learn in online English class. The study implied that online learning is an important alternative way to help teaching and learning in the situation of the pandemic, it considers using proper technology, quality, and instructors’ competence to enhance and to encourage learners engaged in online learning environment.
