Abstract

Problem solving is one of the skills that is quite important for every student to have, because it is closely related to everyday life. To solve a mathematical problem, students are expected to be able to identify the adequacy of data, make mathematical forms, determine and implement strategies, present results, and apply mathematics in a meaningful way. Analysis of the difficulty of solving mathematical problems on the material of blocks, cubes, pyramids, and prisms is the goal of the research conducted and qualitative descriptive is the method in this study. The eighth grade students of SMP Negeri in Cimahi are the subjects to be studied and totaling 34 students. The results of the data analysis are in poor qualifications regarding the problem-solving abilities of students. This is because students are not used to working on non-routine questions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of students who experience learning barriers on trigonometry material. The obstacles that often occur in students when solving questions that are not routine such as questions in the form of stories. The purpose of this study is to analyze the epistemological obstacle of high school students on trigonometry material. The method of this research is a descriptive qualitative method with the subject of the study being students of class XI in one of the high schools in West Bandung with 27 students. The instrument used was a test in the form of a description of trigonometric material and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques used are: Data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results and discussion of this study is that the epistemological obstacle of high school students on trigonometry material occurs because of the limitations of students when solving non-routine problems. When students are given unusual questions, which are questions in the form of stories, students experience learning obstacles and tend to be unable to solve problems by completing. Students who are given ordinary or easy problems will make students difficult in working on questions in the form of stories. Students should be given problems in the form of problem solving, so students can think critically and will not have difficulties when given questions in the form of stories or problem solving.

Abstract

Online learning is a solution in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, of course, in the implementation, there must be many difficulties for both teachers and students. This study aims to describe students' perceptions of online learning in Lampung Province. Samples were randomly selected using the Slovin Method with a population of Senior High School students in Lampung Province. 400 students from more than 25 schools were chosen for this study. The sample is given a perception questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability which is made on Google Form. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that students get good support from various parties in implementing online learning. However, the majority of students experienced problems related to signals during online learning. Many students also have not been able to master the learning application well so that it will affect the learning process. In addition, students stated that they had difficulty communicating with the teacher and preferred to have face-to-face discussions and students had difficulty understanding the material if it only came from books.

Abstract

This study aim to determine how the ability of mathematical connections in terms of the anxiety of junior high school students learning in completing questionnaires and questions related to circle material. Circle material is one of the junior high school mathematics teaching materials contained in the basic competencies of class VIII. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII J in one of Karawang regencies. School year 2019/2020. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The instrument of learning anxiety questionnaire based on the grid and the test items urain students' mathematical connection ability is written based on the item grid grid according to the indicators, basic competencies, and material. Data collection techniques used in this study are to provide learning anxiety questionnaires and tests a description of students' mathematical connection abilities of 4 questions. The results of this study were 3 students with high learning anxiety, 24 students with moderate learning anxiety, and 3 students with low learning anxiety. The conclusion that students with low learning anxiety can achieve each indicator of mathematical connection ability, while students with low and moderate learning anxiety cannot achieve each indicator of mathematical connection ability.

Abstract

Describing the mistakes of early-level students in solving algebra problems and their causes is the purpose of this study. The algebra problem given is a SPLDV problem with one solution, many solutions and no solution. Descriptive qualitative is a type of this research, with the subject of early-level students taking linear algebra courses. Test and interview techniques were used in collecting data in this study. Then the data analyzed using analytical techniques consisting of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the errors of students in solving SPLDV questions with one solution were only in writing mathematical symbols for the final answer. Meanwhile, errors in solving SPLDV with many solutions, namely: (1) writing the final answer, (2) performing subtraction and division operations that involve algebra, (3) interpreting the calculation results into the answer. Meanwhile, errors in solving SPLDV with no solution, namely: (1) performing subtraction operations involving algebra, (2) interpreting the results of calculations into answers. The cause of the error is that students (1) do not understand what is meant by the SPLDV solution, (2) still fixated on previous knowledge, namely the solution to SPLDV is only one, (3) still fixated that the easiest way to solve SPLDV is by elimination, (4) not familiar with SPLDV with many solutions and no solutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical problem solving ability of Polya stages in solving equation material and linear inequality of one variable. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The population in this study was grade VII students of SMP Kota Bekasi with a subject of 40 students. Data collection techniques are five test instruments for mathematical problem solving capabilities. Based on the results of the study obtained mathematical problem solving skills of students are different there are in the high, medium and low categories. Of the 40 students who were subjected to the study, 26 students with low mathematical problem solving skills with a percentage of 65%. Therefore, the mathematical problem solving ability of SMP grade VII in solving equation material and linear inequality of one variable is relatively low.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the difficulties experienced by high school students when solving problems regarding the line material. The method used is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at one of the public high schools in Karawang for the 2020-2021 academic year with the subjects of class XII totaling 26 students. The technique for collecting research data is by giving a test in the form of description questions, amounting to 6 questions with predetermined indicators. Data analysis was carried out, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the analysis show that (1) students with heterogeneous mathematical abilities still have difficulty understanding and solving problems regarding the sequence material; (2) the students' difficulties with the sequence material, namely the lack of understanding of the questions and formulas to be used; (3) the students' abilities in understanding a concept in the Line material still need to be explored or trained more deeply.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the errors of XI grade students of the State Vocational High School in the city of Cimahi in solving transformation geometry problems. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi and the samples were taken as much as 1 class. The number of subjects in this study were 32 students. The research approach used is qualitative with descriptive methods. The data collection technique used was a test instrument. The test instrument used in this research is the National Examination (UN) questions on the transformation geometry material as many as 8 questions that have been validated. The results showed that the XI grade students of State Vocational High School in Cimahi City had errors in solving  transformation geometry problems. Problem number 2 is the most difficult problem with the question indicator calculating the image if it is rotated 270 ° with the center p (a, b), the average percentage is 3%, which means that only 1 out of 32 students answered correctly and many students had errors.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic makes the learning/lecturing process carried out online to break the chain of spreading the coronavirus. One of the models that can be applied to online learning is blended learning by combining LMS and video conferences. The purpose of this study was to see how effective the use of blended learning is in improving student academic abilities through Schoology during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design for 2 treatments (cycles), before and after the midterm exam. Techniques for data analysis using Normality-Gain Test (N-gain) and T-Test for two groups of independent samples. The N-gain value in the experimental class was 43.57% in the medium category, while in the control class the N-gain value was 4.55% in the low category. Based on the results of the t-test, it was obtained that the t-count value was 8.8367 and the t-table value was 2.030, because t-count > t-table there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. So that the application of the blended learning model using Schoology can improve students' academic skills.
