This study aims to determine whether the mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students who use a contextual approach with the cooperative model of think pair share type is better than the scientific approach. The subject of the study was the eighth grade junior high school students in Cimahi, while the sample was class VIII B as an experimental class that got learning using a contextual approach with a cooperative model of think pair share type and class VIII C became a control class that got learning using a scientific approach. The instrument in the study was a matter of mathematical problem solving ability consisting of five item description items. Based on the results of all stages of the study, it can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students whose learning uses a contextual approach through a cooperative model of think pair share type is better than that of learning using a scientific approach.Â

The use of the lecture method causes low participation, student progress, student attention, and interest cannot be monitored. The inactivity of students during the learning process is one of the factors that can cause students to difficult to understand the concept of material. If this happens it can result in less than optimal learning outcomes obtained. The type of research used is True-experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest control group Design type. The independent variable in this study is the PQ4R model with a scientific approach. While the dependent variable is learning outcomes. The population in this study were students of class VIII. The sample of this research is a class of 25 students. Determination of the sample using a cluster type random sampling technique. Data collection instruments include lesson plans, observation sheets of student activities, observation widths of teacher activities, pre-test, and post-test learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used an independent sample t-test which was previously tested by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov method with the help of SPSS for windows version 17.0. The results showed: (1) The teacher can carry out PBM activities well and in accordance with the learning plan in accordance with the syntax. (2) Student activities are in accordance with what is expected from the frequency of the many activities that illustrate PBM with the PQ4R strategy with a scientific approach. This shows that the PQ4R strategy can affect student learning outcomes

This study aims to determine whether learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students ' problem-solving abilities and whether learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students' self-efficacy. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable is the PMRI approach, and the dependent variable is the students' problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. The population was class VIII student of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta in 2018/2019, and samples of classes VIII D, VIII F and VIII I. The instrument was a matter of pretest-posttest problem-solving abilities and prescale-post scale self-efficacy, RPP , and LKS. Data analysis techniques used the t-test with the help of SPSS 16.0 software. The results are that learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students ' problem-solving abilities, and learning using the PMRI approach is no more effective than conventional learning on students' self-efficacy.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini mengambil subjek kelas VII-I SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas sebanyak 31 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu istrumen tes dan non tes. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis sebanyak 4 soal dan angket kepercayaan diri siswa sebanyak 25 pernyataan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa, pengaruh kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP sebesar 57,3%, sedangkan 42,7% dipengaruhi oleh faktor selain kepercayaan diri siswa.

Mathematical literacy is an ability that is needed by students in this changing era. Mathematical literacy can be seen from the ability to formulate contextual problems mathematically; using facts, concepts, and mathematical procedures; as well as interpreting and evaluating mathematical outcomes well. One of the factors that cause students' good mathematical literacy is teacher's good mathematics literacy. The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical literacy abilities of pre-service elementary school teacher in solving PISA problems about shape and space. This research method is qualitative-descriptive. The subjects of the study were pre-service elementary school teachers, each with high, medium, and low cognitive abilities. The results showed that high-ability pre-service teacher were able to demonstrate good mathematical literacy performance, which was able to fulfil all three aspects namely formulating mathematical problems; use mathematical concepts and procedures well; and interpret mathematical answers well in the context of the problem. Medium-ability pre-service teachers are not able to meet several indicators on aspects of formulating problems and using mathematical concepts and procedures. Low-ability pre-service teachers cannot fulfil all indicators on aspects of using mathematical concepts and procedures properly.

This study to describe the ability of matehamtical resilience in improving students’ mathematical connection abilities. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The population in this study were al students of class XI SMAN 21 Bekasi with a sample of the 30 students. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical connection ability test and student mathematical resilience questionnaire. The research method used is qualitative design and descriptive statical data analysis. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result showed that : 1) students with high esilience had an average mathematical connection ability of 36%, 2) students with moderate resilience had an average mathematical connection of 34%, 3) students with low resilience had an average mathematical connection of 30% and 4) the results showed there were positive contributions of students with good mathematical resilience to students’ mathematical connection abilities.

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students' mathematical connection in solving story problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted in junior high school Christian Soe 1with the source of the data was a student of class VII B as many people as 27 people. Data collection techniques using observation, mathematics connection ability test and interviews. The research instrument was observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions and interviews. The research instruments were observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions, and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques include Miles and Huberman models with data validity testing using the technique triangulation model. The results of the analysis show that students' high mathematical connection ability of students in solving story problems is high for indicators looking for the relationships of various representations of concepts and procedures, understanding relationships between mathematical topics, understanding the equivalent percentage of a concept and looking for relationships of one procedure with other procedures in equivalent representation while low for indicators of applying mathematics in other fields of study or in everyday life as well as in applying relationships between mathematical topics with topics outside mathematics.

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika melalui tugas berbasis open-ended. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif yaitu menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika melalui tugas berbasis open-ended. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX E SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes esai berbasis open-ended. Aspek-aspek pada kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yaitu kelancaran, keluwesan, keaslian, dan keterincian. Siswa yang akan dianalisis proses berpikir kreatif matematisnya dikategorikan menjadi siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis tinggi, siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis sedang, dan siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis rendah. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat sebanyak 18% siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis tinggi, 76% siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis sedang, dan 6% siswa berkemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis rendah.

Creativity is very important in today's modern era so it must be increased by making efforts such as creating learning tools to train students' creativity to raise their problems while solving those problems. The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the quality of learning by using the problem-posing approach to train students' creativity in problem solving; (2) to describe the creativity of students in solving problems in the perimetri and area of rectangle based on problem-posing. This research is a development research. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, tests, observations, and validation methods. The results showed that (1) The problem-posing approach has the quality to increase the creativity of students in solving problems of perimetri and area of rectangle; (2) After learning with problem posing showed that the students' creativity test results increased from the previous test.

This research is a classroom action research with descriptive qualitative method, which aims to ilustrate how improved students mathematical understanding abilities when using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to the material of straight line equations. The subjects of this study is 32 students of class VIII-C Junior High School Pasundan 9 Bandung. The instruments used in this study is 5 essay questions that referref to indicators of mathematical understanding ability that is given at the beginning of learning and the end of learning, which is then analyzed by calculating the average of each question indicator. The result of this study indicate that students mathematical understanding ability can be improved using a contextual teaching and learning approach.
