Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the errors made by students when solving problems on the material of circles and conic sections. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects in the study consisted of 30 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program, IKIP Siliwangi Bandung. The instrument of this research is a written test in the form of a description of 4 questions. The data processing was carried out in three stages, namely the reduction stage, the presentation and drawing conclusions from the data. Based on the results of the study, it showed that students' errors in solving analytic geometry problems consisted of conceptual, procedural and technical errors. The causes of conceptual errors are student errors in stating the formula used when solving the problems presented, students do not understand the material and do not know how to solve problems. The cause of procedural errors is that students lack practice when completing the given practice questions, students do not understand the process of solving problems correctly. The cause of technical errors is the lack of skill of students in the process of calculating in an operation and students' inaccuracy in the calculation process, less thorough and in a hurry when solving problems so they do not re-check what has been done

Abstract

This study aims to increase the motivation to learn mathematics in the set material by using a problem based-learning approach. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) using the design of the classroom action research model (CAR) created by Kemmis and Mc Taggart. The subjects of this study were 10th graders at SMPN 1 Margaasih. The data collection technique used a learning motivation questionnaire with 5 indicators and 10 statements, each with 5 positive and negative statements. The results of this study indicate an increase in students' learning motivation in each cycle with a good to very good category. The use of problem based learning approach is proven to be able to increase students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to find out which is better between the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create and Share) learning model and the direct learning model on students' critical thinking skills in comparative material at MTs Al-Hikmah Pati in the 2021/2022 academic year. This type of research uses a true experimental design in the form of Posttest-Only Group Design. The sampling technique in this study is cluster random sampling. The population in this study was the seventh grade female students of MTs Al-Hikmah. The data collection technique of this research is with tests and documentation. The results of this study are the first, namely students' critical thinking skills on comparative material using the SSCS learning model with an average result of 80.79 including in the high category. Second, the average posttest result data shows that there is a difference in students' critical thinking skills, which is 80.79 for the experimental class, and 64.40 for the control class. This is evidenced by the value of the results of the independent sample t-test, from the calculations obtained t count = 4.034 > t table = 2.003 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, Share) learning model is better than the direct learning model on students' critical thinking skills in comparative material at MTs Al-Hikmah Pati for the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to know the improvement of students’ interest mathematic with teams games tournament (TGT) learning model. The background of this research is the lowest of students’ interesting in learning mathematic on SMP Islam Al- Mu’min. the research used quasi experiment methode and descriptive quantitative technique. The population of this research is all the students of eight grade on SMP Islam Al-Mu’min, while the sample is student of eight A. The instrument that used in this research is non-test instrument named quitionnare.   The quitionnaire is about the students interest after they learn used TGT model with 11 questions. The result of this research is the percentage of student’s interest is positive with the value is 76,62% in each indicator. It’s mean most of the student have interest in learning mathematics with TGT.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the many obstacles that occur when online learning takes place so that many students experience difficulties in capturing and understanding the material which then becomes a factor in students making mistakes. This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the errors, their causes and describing them in writing. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 200 Jakarta in class IX-A with a total of 34 students and a sample of 5 students. Research with descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using 5 description questions and interviews. The data analysis technique in this study uses reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing, Based on the data obtained and analyzed, this study shows that 5 out of 5 students (100%) have not been able to solve the quadratic equation. It can be said that the results of student completion there are still conceptual, procedural and technical errors.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the problem solving ability of junior high school students on linear equation system of two variable. The method of this study is qualitative descriptive method. The subject of this study is 20 students IX at one state junior high school in Kabupaten  Karawang. Technique data collection using test and interviews. Technique data analysis using data reduction, data presentations and drawing conclusions. The results obtained in this study are from the 4 stages of mathematical problem solving ability, the percentages are as follows: (1) understanding the problem by 33%, (2) planning problem solving by 87%, (3) implementing a solution plan by 65%, (4) checked back by 47%. Most students with high abilities already understand the problems given, students with moderate abilities are mostly less careful in carrying out solving plans and students with low abilities mostly do not understand the problems contained in the questions.

Abstract

Mathematics became one of the mare lessons that a man learned, based on logic and which ranged from the easiest to the most complicated. In addition, we also provide a wide range of products that you can choose according to your needs. analyzing students' mistakes in solving problems can find out whether a student has mastered a material or not. This study has the purpose to describe and analyze the errors of students in solving the soul number root form and the factors causing the error. This type of research uses a description of the quality of the research subject is a student of Class X SMC LPM Padalarang. The sample to obtain data were 6 students representing high, medium and low ability students who were classified from the average results of the root form question test. The Data will be generated in the form of the results of the test questions in the form of descriptions and interviews with several students. From the data collection will result in the analysis of students ' difficulties in solving the problem of root form numbers and the factors that cause it. Difficulties experienced by students include conceptual errors, procedural errors as well as technical errors. Meanwhile, the lack of understanding the concept of root form resulting in misconception is a factor causing difficulties in the material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the level of mathematical communication skills in linear programming material. Mathematics is an important science to be mastered in the field of education, especially in mathematical communication skills. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 2 at SMA Negeri 2 Klari in the academic year 2021/2022. In this study using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The instrument used is a written test of mathematical communication skills with 5 questions. This test instrument aims to describe the extent to which students are able to explain their ideas mathematically. To obtain descriptive data, data analysis techniques are used, namely by sorting out important data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results obtained indicate that some students are able to explain ideas algebraically, namely by making mathematical models from the graphs of the functions presented, can determine inequality models in graph form, are able to solve problems by describing a graph, can answer questions algebraically by grouping the x variable. and y into the form of inequalities, and is able to translate the problem into inequalities, then complete the calculation by substitution. So it can be concluded that students have mathematical communication skills with a high category.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to calculate multiplication operations using the Jarimatika method for fourth-grade students at SDK 051 Waigete. The variable that is the target of change in the research is the increase in numeracy skills using the Jarimatika method in the multiplication operation material, the action research used is the Jarimatika method. The research method is classroom action research which is carried out in two cycles, namely, cycle I and cycle II. The subject of the study was directed to all fourth-grade students with a total of 23 students. Data collection techniques were tests and observations. The data analysis technique used was the descriptive data analysis technique.From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the ability to count using the Jarimatika method in the multiplication operation material for fourth-grade students at SDK 051 Waigete is in the highly improved category. In the initial conditions before taking the action, the average value of students who passed was 61.30 and the percentage who passed was 30.43%, the first cycle the average value of students who passed was 61.86 and the pass percentage was 47.82%. and the second cycle average value obtained by students who passed was 92.13 and the percentage value that passed was 91.30%. Therefore, it is concluded that the use of the Jarimatika method can improve the arithmetic ability of multiplication operations in fourth-grade students at SDK 051 Waigete.

Abstract

Mathematics has an important role in life. But in the practice of learning mathematics, some students still have the assumption that mathematics is difficult. Some evidence in the field shows that learning outcomes on SPLDV material are still low. The purpose of the study was to analyze the learning difficulties of students, class VIII at SMPN 4 Pangalengan, in solving questions on the SPLDV material, a qualitative descriptive approach was used in this study, the subjects of this study were 10 students of class VIII-D SMPN 4 Pangalengan. The test instrument used was the SPLDV description test with 3 questions, then the students' difficulties were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. Data collection techniques using the test method. The analysis steps include data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that students' difficulties in learning SPLDV were difficulty understanding the concept of SPLDV, then changing story questions into mathematical form, and using methods in determining the SPLDV completion set and difficulties understanding supporting material.
