Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is an ability that every student must have, students must be able to find solutions to solve problems and choose strategies to solve problems. Indicators of mathematical problem solving include being able to understand the problem, being able to transform the information obtained on the problem, being able to perform problem solving skills or strategies, and being able to conclude the answers or results obtained. The purpose of this research is to measure the level of students' mathematical problem solving ability in solving matrix problems. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPS in one of the senior high schools in Karawang Regency. From the total class there were 12 students who were the subjects of the study. Collecting data using three questions about the description of the matrix material and observations, each question refers to an indicator. The results of this study indicate that students in solving matrix problems still have difficulties in achieving indicators of problem solving abilities including indicators of understanding, skills and inferences. Based on the results of research that has been done there are still students who are not able to solve the problems given, students' mathematical problem solving abilities are still in the low category, it is hoped that students will continue to learn so that they are able to solve mathematical problems.

Abstract

Researchers conducted research that aims to determine the problems faced by students when learning mathematics, which are the factors that cause errors in solving mathematical problems. This error factor must be known so that it is easier to get solution and the parts that need to be emphasized during learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study to analyze and describe the types of errors made by students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cililin. The written test became a data collection technique. The results of the analysis of student errors obtained: 1) 60,53% conceptual error with a “high” standar error; 2) 18,42% of program errors with a “verry low” standard of error; 3) 21% technical errors with a “very low” error rate low. This leads to the conclusion that students understanding of the cube and block material is low, and the teacher should pay attention to knowledge, emphasizing the important parts that stundents use.

Abstract

The focused research aims to study the improvement of students' mathematical understanding skills through discovery learning models on fractional numbers. The implementation is applied to smpn 2 Bojong students who focus on class VII in the 2021/2022 school year as many as 25 people. The required test instrument is a mathematical comprehension ability test of 6 descriptions. The research was conducted in a series that contains two cycles with two encounters in each cycle. The final data of completion is analyzed based on the quality that goes through the phases consisting of: 1. Accumulated data, 2. Data shrinkage, 3. Data submission, and 4. Summary.  The non-test assessment used is a scale of learning independence attitudes. The impact of the first cycle of research shows that students are still passive and learning is not effective because learning is solidified. In the pretest results, the average value is 39 which is still far from the KKM value of 70. After analysis, many students of class VII A still do not understand the concept of fractional number operations. At the end of the implementation of PTK, postes were carried out which had an average value of 78.4.

Abstract

Series and sequences one of the most important sub-topics in mathematics since students frequently make mistakes or forget formulae when solving problems, which has an impact on learning results. This study tries to explain how a discovery learning strategy at the vocational high school level improved student learning results in class X. This study is an example of classroom action research. The class X pupils at one of the Cimahi Vocational High Schools served as the study's subjects to determine whether the instructor has a direct impact on the learning process. With the Discovery learning strategy, this project seeks to enhance students mathematics learning results. According to the analysis of learning outcomes and completeness scores, cycle I students mathematics learning outcomes demonstrated a moderate level of material mastery with only 33% of students completing them, whereas cycle II students' mathematics learning outcomes demonstrated a high level of material mastery with 75% of students completing them. The class X SMK's mathematics learning outcomes can be enhanced by the discovery learning technique.
