Abstract

This article examines the influence of urbanization and industrialization on musical expression, with a focus on the role of urban noise as a creative element. The processes of urbanization and industrialization are frequently linked with an increase in noise levels, which is commonly regarded as a form of noise pollution. Nevertheless, this article underscores the potential for such noise to be transformed into a valuable aesthetic element within musical compositions. The research employs electro-acoustic theory and innovative techniques to transform noise into a novel musical element. The methods utilized include sound exploration and experimentation, evaluation, and composition employing both conventional and unconventional instruments. The techniques of sound manipulation are also employed in order to transform noise into an engaging musical experience. The outcome of this research is the musical work POSUA, which illustrates how urban noise can be transformed into a contemplative and creative musical experience, encouraging listeners to perceive noise from an original and innovative perspective. This article introduces a novel perspective on the potential of noise as a musical material and its role in fostering diversity within the contemporary music landscape.

Abstract

This costume design project aims to present an imaginative visual interpretation of the Seven Seas characters from The Little Mermaid, while highlighting the potential of fantasy narratives as a source of inspiration in costume design development. The primary inspiration is drawn from the book The Little Mermaid: Guide to Merfolk, which details the unique characteristics of each character and the seas they originate from. Carnival costumes were chosen as the medium of expression due to their fusion of aesthetic, cultural, and imaginative elements. The main issue addressed in this study is how to interpret the Seven Seas characters into costume designs that can effectively represent both the visual identity and narrative value of each character through the adaptation of diverse elements such as color, texture, and silhouette. The creative method refers to the concept by S.P. Gustami, which comprises three stages: (1) exploration, involving literature review and character analysis; (2) design development, which includes ideation and sketch creation; and (3) realization, presented in the form of visual costume design renderings. The outcome of this design process consists of seven carnival costume designs that visually and narratively represent the Seven Seas characters. This work is expected to contribute to the development of fantasy-based costume design and serve as a reference for future conceptual fashion design projects.

Abstract

Nowadays, in the field of art, talking about (art) collage is more than just a technical ma" er to attach various other elements - beyond the conventions of painting - on a piece of canvas. It is more than the project that Picasso and Braque have been started in the exploration of experimental cubism to havethe new visual images. Collage today is not merely an expression of rebellion as Kurt Schwi"ers, Raul Hausmann or Hannah Hoch did in the spirit of anti-art that developed in Dada. Nowadays, Collage even transcends the iconic composition prowess ad world of Richard Hamilton or Eduardo Paollozi in pop-art. Thus, Collage in the art map inside postmodern era could be some sort of perspective, a way of thinking and looking, spirit, or footing (“blue-print”)/concept, even the idea of itself. Collage is probably a vast stretch of landscape civilization that celebrates itself among history, knowledge, technology, gaming, market, hospital, war, television and popular culture fanfare. Collage today are the images that were lined-piled around us as a reality that is layered, that seemed real and visible in everyday life - and we’re in it as an inevitable part of the composition of the layers inside collage umpteenth great life. Keywords: art, collage, popular culture, postmodern
