Abstract

This research aims to determine the most optimal type of filter paper in making strip tests from crude anthocyanins of purple sweet potato to detect borax. The experimental design consisted of paper type optimization by testing magenta color intensity, sensitivity tests of strip tests using borax standard solution by testing cyan color intensity, and application of strip tests on food. Optimization of paper type was tested quantitatively with the treatment of ordinary filter paper and whatman paper number 1, 40, 41, and 42. The sensitivity was tested quantitatively with four concentrations of borax. The results of the application of borax test strip tests on food products were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research on paper type optimization showed that the color intensity on 5 types of paper was significantly different, with the highest color intensity value owned by ordinary filter paper. Subsequent sensitivity tests on ordinary filter paper at four borax concentrations showed results with a detection limit of 1 ppm. The application test of purple sweet potato strip test, using ordinary filter paper, demonstrated its effectiveness as a borax detection tool in food products, with a sensitivity limit of up to 0.5%. The borax test strip paper produced in this research successfully detected the presence of borax in food products.Keywords – Anthocyanins, Borax, Filter Paper, Purple Sweet Potato.

Abstract

The use of electric motors in industry often experiences damage caused by several things, including high starting current surges, overload or full load, loss of one phase in the electric motor, and other causes of damage to the 3-phase motor. The main problem that occurred in this research was damage caused by high starting currents, where in the case study many 3-phase motors were used to drive factory machines. The use of 3-phase motors to drive factory machines is often damaged by unstable currents in the machines. This is because the time and workers for monitoring are very minimal and the materials for repairing machines are inadequate. In this way, the solution for repairing a 3-phase motor is to replace and rewind the damaged motor so that it can be used again. This research aims to find a solution on how to reduce high starting currents in 3-phase motors by utilizing the influence of replacing damaged induction motor components as well as repair methods used in starting when rewinding 3-phase motors. The research results from the groove distance with a wire size of 0.90 mm showed that the groove distance of 9, 9, 8 was 29.3, and at a distance of 10, 10, 10 it had a current of 31 A with no-load testing and recommended groove distances of 10, 10, 10. Next, testing wire sizes of 0.75 mm and 0.90 mm with distances of 10, 10, 10, and 9, 9, 8 without load obtained 26.1 A and 27.4 A while 0.90 mm was 30, 7 A and 28, 1 A. The load was 43.5 A and 43.9 A, while 0.90 mm was 51.3 A and 49.3 A. From the test results, the largest current decrease was at a distance of 10, 10, 10 with a wire size of 0.75 mm. Abstract

 PT. PLN Nusantara Power UP Tenayan is a company operating in the power generation sector and focuses on operating PLTUs Tenayan, Indonesia. One part of the machine that influences the operation of the generator is the boiler feed pump. Lack of optimal boiler feed pump instrumentation often results in failure in operating activities. This research uses the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method with the research objective of finding out the causes of failures that occur, identifying the type of failure, and determining the RPN value and the impact that occurs. The analysis results, it shows that the Boiler Feed Pump instrumentation components still meet operating standards because the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value is below 200, even though the Speed Sensor has a fairly high RPN value but is still in the reliable category, the result of identifying the type of failure that occurs is that the indicator reading is not actual, the component is not functioning, the highest RPN value for the Boiler Feed Pump component is the Speed Sensor component with an RPN value of 160 and the lowest RPN value is for the pressure indicator component with an RPN value of 30. The most important recommended action for the Speed Sensor component is to carry out maintenance for 1 month very.Keywords – Boiler Feed Pump, FMEA, Keandalan, Pembangkit, RPN.

Abstract

The behaviors of motorcycle drivers are rarely studied, while their behaviors caused  considerable danger on driving safety. This study aims to identify risky behaviors of motorcycle drivers. This study was conducted in some roads in Jakarta and Bekasi by adopting the work sampling technique. The results showed that risky behaviors were mainly dominated by not wearing a helmet and by carrying more than one person. These behaviors were most commonly found in areas where it was perceived that there was no police and Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), especially in the Bekasi area. The presence of the police is crucial in preventing risky behavior of the drivers. Therefore, it is recommended to further ensure the presence of the police in areas prone to risky behaviors, especially when ETLE is not yet installed, or when it has not been fully applied. Keywords – Motorcycle, Passengers, Risky Behaviors, Work Sampling.

Abstract

PT. Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Perawang, a backup of Sinarmas, is one of the biggest companies concurring to the Indonesia Stock Trade. One of the most critical units in the production process is the pulp dryer unit, with an estimated production capacity of 657 tons per day. Based on the data obtained, the pulp dryer unit frequently experiences failures that disrupt the production process. This ponder utilizes the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) strategy to decide which gadgets within the mash dryer unit are most inclined to issues by calculating the RPN (Risk Priority Number) for each component, assessing the unwavering quality level of these gadgets, and giving proposals for an ideal support plan. The think about comes about appear the RPN values for mash dryer instrumented from most elevated to least as takes after: temperature sensor at 392, press transmitter at 288, level transmitter at 280, stream transmitter at 252, solenoid valve at 252, consistency transmitter at 245, and on/off valve at 210. The unwavering quality values for each instrumented component that did not meet the edge set by the SII (Indonesian Industrial Standards), which is 0.7, demonstrate the require for support activities. The recommended maintenance schedule for the instrumentation is as follows: temperature sensor at 252 days, press transmitter at 352 days, level transmitter at 352 days, flow transmitter at 352 days, solenoid valve at 352 days, consistency transmitter at 293 days, and on/off valve at 440 days.Keywords – FMEA, Instrumentation, Reliability, Pulp Dryer, RCM.

Abstract

Palm oil plantations are one of the agricultural commodities in Indonesia that play a crucial role in food availability and the economy. This research employs the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model as an integrated performance measurement system. The BSC measures company performance from both financial and non-financial perspectives. The study aims to measure the performance of the palm oil industry at PT. KMP Masamba, and covers four perspectives namely financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth. The weighting of performance measurement elements is done using the analytical hierarchy process with the assistance of Expert Choice software. The results are expected to assist PT. KMP Masamba in determining necessary improvement priorities. The performance measurements from each perspective, ranked from highest to lowest, are as follows: customer perspective (0.148), internal business perspective (0.048), learning and growth perspective (0.047), and financial perspective (0.030). The overall company performance score is 0.543, indicating satisfactory performance and approaching high targets. Based on these conclusions, recommendations for this research include periodic performance measurement by the company to assess its comprehensive condition and improve functional activities with low performance, to improve their performance indicators.Keywords - Analytical Hierarchy Process, Balance Scorecard, The Performance Measurements.

Abstract

With the increasing global population growth, the demand for fishery products, including catfish, continues to rise. Catfish seed production plays a crucial role in the fisheries production chain, as this stage ensures the availability of high-quality fish seeds. However, fish farmers still face challenges in increasing aquaculture production, especially regarding inefficient manual feeding practices. This research aims to develop an automated catfish feeding system on a schedule at Fardu Farm using a combination of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. In this study, the researchers design and implement an automation system that enables scheduled feeding in catfish seedlings. The use of Outseal PLC connected to IoT allows for precise and efficient feeding control. This research conducts testing to verify the system's performance, including measuring the weight of the feed dispensed and testing feeding over specific time periods. The results of the study indicate that this automation system successfully provides timely feeding according to the established schedule. Additionally, manual control using the Blynk platform also yields good responsiveness. Thus, the developed system can enhance efficiency in feeding catfish seedlings at Fardu Farm.Keywords - Automation, Feeding, Catfish Breeding, PLC, IoT.

Abstract

In improving the quality of food products as an effort to build a competitive UMKM economic structure, it’s necessary to implement Good Manufacturing Practices to produce the quality and suitable for consumption products. GMP is used as a general reference for food industries which is designed to prevent problems related to the quality and safety of food products. The aim of this research was to evaluated the implementation of GMP for Ginger Botanical Drink product which includes 18 aspects of assessment based on the Minister of Industry's regulation regarding GMP. This research was conducted in a qualitative descriptive. The 11 respondents were employees in the management and production departments with the instruments were field observation and interview on each aspect of GMP parameters. The result of this research showed that GMP implementation at PT XYZ is classified as Level 3 with some non-conformities, there were 2 points in the mayor category from the building aspect, 2 points in the mayor category from the sanitation facilities aspect, 1 point in the mayor category and 1 point in the critical category from the machine and equipment aspect, 1 point in the mayor category from the final product aspect, 1 point in the critical category from the employee aspect, and 1 point in the mayor category from the storage aspect. This proves that the implementation of GMP at PT XYZ is still not good enough, therefore, several improvement recommendations need to be given.Keywords - Evaluation, GMP, Improvement Recommendations, UMKM.

Abstract

The supply chain is the main factor influencing the production process in achieving goals. This research develops a model to determine the optimal production lot size in the supply chain system between vendors and buyers by considering the inventory shortage at the buyer. Minimizing the combined inventory cost is the goal of optimizing the production lot size by developing an integration model to determine the optimal lot size. The proposed model uses a periodic delivery method from the vendor to the buyer and allows for inventory shortages at the buyer. An iterative algorithm is applied to find the optimal lot size and minimum integrated inventory cost. The results showed that the initial model with n=1 resulted in a total cost of 2252 and an optimal production size (Q*) of 457. The proposed model reduces the total cost to 1605 with an optimal production size (Q*) of 737. Sensitivity analysis showed that an increase in the frequency of deliveries to vendors and vendor set-up costs contributed to a rise in total cost, while an increase in vendor storage costs led to a decrease in production lot size. This research can improve the efficiency of production planning and inventory management in the supply chain.Keywords - Inventory, Shortages, Single Buyer, Single Vendor.

Abstract

The need for electrical energy is increasing due to population growth and the use of electrical equipment, including lighting systems or lamps. Lighting systems or lamps are important factors in creating a comfortable, safe and efficient atmosphere in the work environment, especially hospitals. Various methods have been used so that the lighting system or lamps can be optimized, for example by analyzing through Dialux Evo simulation. This study analyzes and improves the lighting system in a Type C hospital in Semarang using the Dialux Evo 11.1 simulation. The focus is on the nutrition or surgical polyclinic room and the operating room. The research method involves a comparison between the results of lighting strength measurements and simulations with the SNI 6197: 2011 standard. The measurement results show that the polyclinic room has an average lighting of 91.61 lux, while the simulation reaches 127 lux. For the operating room, the measurement produces 81.52 lux and the simulation 274 lux. Both of these rooms do not meet the minimum standards: 250 lux for the polyclinic room and 300 lux for the operating room. For the recommended improvements in the polyclinic room is the addition of 4 Philips LED-Tube 765 T8 AP C G light points or 5 Philips Downlight DN020B G3 D150 light points. While for the operating room, it is recommended to replace 14 points with Philips LED-Tube UO 16W865 T8 lights.Keywords - Lighting System, Strong Lighting, Dialux Evo 11.1, SNI 6197:2011
