Abstract

This research aims to propose Paradigma Nusantara as a means to redirect science to the roots of cultural and religious values that become the human characters of Nusantara. By using Hikmah philosophy, this paradigm was built with principal tenets. Modern paradigms are built with philosophical assumptions (epistemology, ontology, axiology/human nature), which reflect anthropocentric interests. Paradigma Nusantara, on the other hand, is built with four substantive tenets (kaidah substantif), namely Nusantara being, integral view of reality, religiousity and culture, and the objective of Nusantara knowledge. This paradigm, if applied into practice will be able to decolonize science, including accounting, that in the present time is still dense with Western and secular values, and will bring about creation of science that is in accordance with religions and local wisdom (culture).

Abstract

This article aims to offer an approach to derive Nusantara values into research methodology. Through substantive tenets (kaidah substantif) proposed by Mulawarman, methodology to construct variety of methods are put forward. There are three steps that must be taken to ensure that Paradigma Nusantara's tenets can become integral with research results, thus producing new or renewed Nusantara science. Paradigma Nusantara methodology will ensure that knowledge will be built upon strongly-believed values which cater creativity and freedom that will lead to decolonization of science. Examples of Paradigma Nusantara methodologies, both which have been executed and can be considered to be put to use are proposed in this article.

Abstract

The article proposes “Tiga Tungku” as a local wisdom to become the basis of village financial management. By employing a constructive paradigm as well as literary study on the local wisdom, an alternative for village financial management is constructed. The worries and distrust that have occurred between the village government and the community can be dissipated by presenting elements of community leaders. Community leaders will act as mediators in the relationship between several parties, so that a “Tiga Tungku” relationship will break asymmetrical communication. This way, village fund management is not caused by compliance to regulations but rather the sense of obedience that becomes the moral bond between stakeholders.

This article raises an issue of the rising popularity of gig economy in India. A market that is based on a fixed-term contract or that is paid per project by a company, third party, or online marketplace is referred to as the "gig economy". By employing a case study approach, this article highlights the impact of gig economy in India. The gig economy's impact at work is widespread and felt across industries. It has completely transformed how people are engaged at work and has resulted in a fundamental shift in the way our economy operates. While the gig economy offers enormous benefits to workers in terms of flexibility, employment, freedom, and so on, it also has a negative impact on the industry's working environment. In both the global and Indian contexts, it has advantages and disadvantages.

Abstract

This article discloses the church's social teaching that denounces capitalist thinking, because workers are seen only as labourers. Workers who work only by relying on the spirit of love could accept their life situations patiently and steadfastly. Work has a place of honor in the sight of God. By exploring biblical texts the concept of wage was analysed. This research was conducted through participative observation and interviews by employing the classical phenomenology as well as the hermeneutic approach, while non-empirical data collection method was done by interpreting biblical text based on theologians. Workers, especially Christians, generally believe in doing their work based on the principle of obedience. This attitude reflects the value of the teachings of faith. Giving oneself through service in work can be seen as a calling in carrying out the mission of the Church has become an alternative meaning of wages.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe one of Pendalungan culture, Tota'an Doro, as a unique culture that still exists, and to explore the meaning of profit. In Pendalungan Tota'an Doroculture, pigeons are released together by the contestant of the race or the community member, beginning with the release of two pigeons from two regions as the symbol of a bride. This research employed qualitative methods of ethnography approach to elucidate how the culture occurs and exists up to this day. To obtain valid and reliable data, interviews involving the leader of pigeon lovers in Wirolegi and other sub-districts were conducted. Through various stages of data analysis, namely data reduction, data grouping, interpretation, it is found that Tota'an Dorodoes not provide adequate financial gain because the treatment cost is greater than the income earned. However, pigeon lovers gain non-financial benefits by attaining friends and relatives, achieving satisfaction as a participant, getting lottery, and exchanging information related to pigeon. This set of explanations suggests that Pendalungan Tota'an Doro culture focuses more on non-financial gains, specifically kinship and familial communication.

Abstract

The success of a country's development and progress is almost entirely measured according to the categories constructed by the West. The stratification of developed and developing countries has become a discourse that strengthens the hegemony of the West over non-Western countries. This classification has ignored the cultural reality that every nation has its view of the success of development by the goals and ideals of its own life. For Eastern people, material progress is not the only measure for the success of development because they have a more essential orientation, namely the happiness of the soul. Balinese people also believe that the purpose of human life is to achieve material well-being (jagadhita) as well as spiritual happiness (moksa) integrally. This means that development must be carried out holistically to realize these goals. Through a literature review of the Purana Bali, six important concepts for holistic and sustainable development of Bali were found, namely Sad Kertih which includes Atma Kertih, Jana Kertih, Jagat Kertih, Danu Kertih, Samudra Kertih, and Wana Kertih. These six concepts are correlated with the Tri Hita Karana (three causes of happiness) including parhyangan, pawongan, and palemahan. Sad Kertih became one of the sociocultural and local geniuses of the Balinese people to face Western hegemony in development, as well as to realize the harmony of civilization.

Abstract

This study aims to make people aware that the hegemony of the Korean Wave is a form of economic colonization. The Korean wave is a soft power instrument used by South Korea for economic gain, through music (K-pop), drama (K-drama) and film (K-film). This study employed Derrida’s deconstruction as a way of reading the text carefully, playing with and disturbing the stability of the meaning embedded in the text. The findings indicate the benefits derived from the spread of the Korean Wave give rise to the meaning of economic colonization. Almost all countries in the world are under this hegemony by consuming music, drama and film products from South Korea.
