Abstract

This study analyzes the nuclear rivalry between the United States and China and its impact on global security and strategic stability. Using a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature analysis, the research applies the Security Dilemma framework to explain how defensive policies can foster mutual distrust and intensify strategic competition. The findings reveal that although the two countries adopt different nuclear policies and non-proliferation approaches, both continue to enhance their deterrence capabilities in response to perceived security threats. China’s nuclear modernization and the United States’ focus on extended deterrence and advanced defense systems have reinforced reciprocal insecurity, increasing the risk of arms competition and strategic miscalculation. The study further shows that this rivalry undermines the effectiveness of the global non-proliferation regime by limiting transparency and complicating arms control efforts. Its consequences extend beyond bilateral relations, affecting regional and international security, particularly in the Indo-Pacific. Therefore, strengthening strategic dialogue, confidence-building measures, and policy transparency is essential to reducing tensions and preserving long-term global stability.  Keywords— Nuclear rivalry, Security dilemma, United States and China relations, Non-proliferation, Global security.

Abstract

This research examines the global green energy transition through the lens of Hans Morgenthau’s Traditional Realism, challenging the dominant Liberal Institutionalist narrative of climate cooperation. Using a qualitative descriptive method and library research, the study analyzes how sustainability is being operationalized as a tool of statecraft, prestige, and dominance. The results indicate that initiatives like the EU Green Deal and CBAM function as "Regulatory Imperialism," satisfying the animus dominandi of established powers by imposing normative hierarchies. Conversely, Indonesia’s nickel downstreaming and "polyalignment" strategy represent a redefinition of the national interest in terms of industrial power and ecological sovereignty. The study also finds that Morgenthau's Policy of Prestige explains why states pursue climate leadership, even absent immediate material gain, since green credentials function as diplomatic capital that secures legitimacy and shields industrial interests from international scrutiny. The study concludes that the "Green Consensus" is a theater of prestige where states compete for moral authority to secure hierarchical advantages. It recommends that developing nations utilize resource nationalism to negotiate their ascent in the international order, treating sustainability not merely as a moral obligation but as a sophisticated instrument of power politics. These findings suggest that scholarship and policymaking on climate cooperation should account more explicitly for the persistence of power-seeking behavior beneath ostensibly cooperative environmental frameworks. Abstract

The objective of this research is to provide an analysis of the policies and future of the development of  Indonesian maritime power and defense during the era of President Prabowo Subianto. The research use a qualitative method with data obtained from literature studies of various official government documents, previous research and electronic media articles. This study emphasize on three important points: first, the projection of the development of Indonesian naval power carried out through the acquisition of defense equipment from various countries; second, the development of naval power also has significance for strengthening Indonesian diplomacy and foreign policy; and finally, the challenges that must be faced by the government of President Prabowo Subianto in efforts to develop maritime power. This study uncovers the development of Indonesian maritime power wich directed to the efforts by strengthen the Indonesian Navy as a green-water navy as a basis for supporting diplomacy and the free and active foreign policy adopted by Indonesia. In addition, this study also identified that in developing its maritime power, the Indonesian government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto will face various challenges from both political, economic and also technical aspect.  Keywords— Diplomacy, Indonesian Navy, Indonesia, Maritime Power

Abstract

This study examines the role of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in addressing  sexual violence against women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) during 2020–2024. Using a qualitative literature review, the analysis is based on official UNFPA publications, reports from international organizations, and relevant academic sources. The study applies Clive Archer’s theory on the roles of international organizations as its analytical framework. The findings show that UNFPA performs multiple roles, including serving as an international forum, facilitating cooperation, promoting international norms, providing information and technical expertise, and acting operationally in the field. These roles are reflected in cross-sector coordination, reproductive health services, psychosocial assistance, capacity building for local personnel, and the dissemination of standards for protecting women from sexual violence. The study concludes that UNFPA has a strategic role in enhancing protection and support for survivors of sexual violence. However, its efforts remain constrained in addressing the structural causes of the problem, particularly due to limitations in state capacity, security challenges, and domestic political dynamics. The findings also confirm the continued relevance of Clive Archer’s theory in explaining the role and effectiveness of international organizations in conflict-affected contexts.  Keywords— Clive Archer, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), International Organizations, Sexual Violence, UNFPA

Abstract

China presents the Community of Shared Future for Mankind (CSFM) as a universal response to fractured global governance. However, it remains unclear how ideas associated with Tianxia are rearticulated in CSFM and whether repetition in international institutions demonstrates norm acceptance. This article uses an interpretive qualitative case study and directed content analysis of a purposively bounded corpus of 13 documents from 2013 to 2023, triangulated with critical scholarship and three expert interviews. It identifies thematic resonances that the contemporary Tianxia literature associates with relationality, harmony, and moral responsibility, selectively rearticulated in a vocabulary of sovereignty, development, and multilateralism. Across the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and United Nations (UN), the strongest observable mechanisms are discursive coupling and negotiated textual inscription; material cooperation does not, by itself, establish normative adoption. Fragmented BRI implementation, negotiated AIIB design, heterogeneous SCO interests, and a divided UN Human Rights Council vote indicate selective and contested uptake. The article adds to this by separating norm promotion, institutional inscription, external uptake, and internalization. CSFM is therefore best assessed as a broad normative frame under sustained state-led promotion, rather than as a norm that has entered an established cascade.  Keywords—China, Community of Shared Future for Mankind, Constructivism, Norm Diffusion, Tianxia
