Abstract

Dental caries is a major problem in the oral cavity today. Preschool children have a high susceptibility to dental caries caused by the activity of a microorganism in a fermentable carbohydrate characterized by demineralization of the hard tooth tissue and followed by the breakdown of organic matter. Children's dental health plays a role in children's growth and health. The problem in this study is the high incidence of dental caries in children under five. The design of this research is analytic with a cross sectional approach. Sampling using Simple Random Sampling technique. The population in this study were all children aged 3-5 years in Early Childhood Education Programs Sooko Mandiri I. The sample obtained was 38 respondents in October 2021. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire and observation sheets filled out by the researcher. After that, the data was tabulated and analyzed using Cross Tabulation and Linear Regression. The results showed that most of the respondents were in the category of cariogenic food consumption with a frequency of sometimes 50%, while most of the respondents were in the category of brushing their teeth with an occasional frequency of 52.7%. Based on the Linear Regression test with p < 0.05, the p value for the relationship between cariogenic food consumption patterns and dental caries and tooth brushing patterns with dental caries was 0.57. Thus there is no relationship between the consumption pattern of cariogenic food and the habit of brushing teeth with the incidence of dental caries. Seeing the results of this study, it is still necessary to have periodic counseling in order to further improve the habit of brushing children's teeth and reduce children's consumption patterns of cariogenic foods.

Abstract

Childhood is the early phase of life and a very fast growth and development phase. Good nutrition intake plays an important part in achieving optimum body growth, including brain growth as well highly determining an individual’s intelligence. Toddlers are more interested in environment and improving their motor skill than in food; therefore, the food served should be always varying. The objective of research is to find out the factors correlating to mothers’ knowledge on nutrition need in toddlers. The result of observation conducted by the author in Cermee Village, Cermee Sub District, Bondowoso found many mothers with toddlers (1-3 year children) have poor knowledge on the nutrition need in 1-3 year old children. The method used was quantitative one, with descriptive correlational design and cross-sectional approach and exhaustive sampling technique taking 34 respondents being the sample. The result of univariate analysis shows that 67.7% of respondents have poor knowledge on toddler’s nutrition need and factors correlating to mothers’ knowledge on toddler nutrition are occupation and information source with substantially different proportion (>10%). Meanwhile, education and age factors have very small proportion difference.  Keywords: Knowledge, Nutrition Need, Toddler

Abstract

The interval of pregnancy needs to be considered for parents in planning pregnancy. Close proximity of births can trigger neglect of the first child physically and psychologically, which can cause jealousy due to the unpreparedness of sharing affection by their parents. If parents cannot share their attention properly, it will cause jealousy in their younger siblings which can lead to competition between siblings or commonly called sibling rivalry. This research is interesting and different from previous research because the informants are children with mothers who are pregnant or mothers who are breastfeeding. The purpose of the study was to determine the incidence of sibling rivalry in children with breastfeeding during pregnancy in the Gunem Public Health Center, Rembang Regency. This research uses a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. This study uses a qualitative study with in-depth interviews and observations. The findings from this study showed that from six informants, 4 children experienced sibling rivalry and only 2 children did not experience sibling rivalry. The majority of mothers choose to stop breastfeeding their older children. Sibling rivalry by children like children wants to be tries to prevent the mother from breastfeeding her sister, tries to attract the mother's attention and does not allow the mother to carry her sister, even the child does not hesitate to pinch and hit his sister if the older sister feels neglected.

Abstract

Postpartum cesarean will undergo many physiological changes. In this phase, mothers often become more sensitive due to various changes that occur both physically and emotionally, thus requiring an adjustment or adaptation process for the mother. Parenting Self Efficacy is an effort to foster parental confidence in their ability to manage and carry out caring for the baby, including post-C-section delivery. The research design used a quasi-experimental method through pre and post-test with a control group non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling approach. The research subjects were 30 postpartum cesareans and were divided into experimental and control groups. The intervention group was given booklets and counseling, while the control group was only given booklets. Data collection using the PSE Scale instrument and family support instruments. Data analysis used an independent sample t-test. This research was conducted at Siti Fatimah Hospital, Tulangan Sidoarjo. The research population is all postpartum cesarean mothers. The sample of this research was 30 postpartum mothers (6 hours-1 per day) wreathed at Siti Fatimah Hospital, Tulangan Sidoarjo. The results of the study After being given the booklet and counseling, there was a significant increase in the intervention group. There were differences in PSE scores on cognitive aspects, affective aspects, skills aspects, and parenting self-efficacy, the characteristics of the research subjects in the intervention and control groups were homogeneous, and most of the intervention groups had scores which were as higher 9 (60%) after the intervention was given significantly (p<0.05). Suggestions for providing PSE information through counseling and providing booklets in hospitals by midwives can be given to all postpartum, especially new parents, individually to provide knowledge and self-confidence for mothers in caring for themselves and their babies at home.

Abstract

Stunting in children is a problem because it can cause suboptimal brain development, resulting in stunted motor and cognitive development, and can even increase the risk of illness and death. appropriate and balanced, but in fact most mothers are not able to practice proper nutrition and often have difficulty eating at this age. The data on the incidence of stunting in Kediri district is quite high, namely 29.30% in 2019, and only 50% of parents are able to apply variations in feeding. Therefore, it is necessary to have a policy to prevent the increase in the problem that focuses on the main factors in meeting the nutritional needs of children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between parental behavior regarding stunting prevention in terms of fulfilling nutritional needs based on the theory of health belief model in Kediri in 2022. The research design used correlation analytic with a cross sectional approach. Involving 244 mothers who have toddler age children in the City of Kediri in 2022, which were taken using a cluster random sampling technique. The statistical test used was the spearman rho test and linear regression. The results showed that the perception of vulnerability in the high category was 210 (86%), the perception of seriousness in the high category was 195 (80%), the perceived benefit in the high category was 168 (69%), the perceived barrier was in the low category 139 (57%), Cues to action in the high category was 210 ( 86%).

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that worldwide more than 585,000 women die each year during pregnancy or childbirth. The maternal mortality rate is used as an indicator to describe the level of awareness of healthy living behavior, nutritional problems and maternal health. Nutritional problems that commonly occur in pregnant women are nutritional deficiencies, both macro and micro nutritional deficiencies which are manifested in chronic energy deficiency status (KEK). Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) is a condition in which the mother suffers from chronic (chronic) food shortages, causing health problems for pregnant women. (Paramashanti, 2021). The average prevalence of pregnant women who experience CED in the world is 15-47% (WHO, 2012). Indonesia is a country that has moderate category of public health problems (5-9.9%) for pregnant women at risk of KEK. (Riskesdas, 2018).The design of this research is analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all pregnant women who had their pregnancy checked at PMB. Wirahayu in January-August 2022 totaled 430 people. The sample taken is the entire population of 430 people. Data analysis techniques are univariate and bivariate. Based on the results of research from 430 pregnant women, it was found that 83 pregnant women (19.3%) experienced CED. Statistical test results obtained p-value 0.015, this means that there is a relationship between parity to the incidence of KEK. Based on the age of the respondent, the results of the statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.000, which means that there is a relationship between maternal age and the incidence of  KEK.In this study, because there are still many KEK incidence rates, regardless of parity and maternal age, it is better if pregnant women during ANC are given explanations, leaflets and descriptions of the dangers of Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK), so that mothers can understand the impact of KEK.  Â
