Abstract

A global pandemic Covid-19 led countries to take aggressive action regarding social management and crisis governance management system. The case of a pandemic discovered in Wuhan provides a lesson for the government worldwide to adopt. However, the government system in every country has its characteristics. This study aims to release the potential policy recommendation in Indonesia when Indonesia's regional autonomy system faces a challenge in the pandemic situation, such as the increase of competition between regions. Even more, the public service system becomes concerned with the ego regionality. The strengthening country's capacity system is vital in the regional autonomy system as well as the collaboration between central and local government in terms of containment of the spread of the pandemic. Used a political ecology approach and a descriptive- review method, this study was conducted by discussing how the government responds in the regional autonomy system at the beginning of the pandemic situation. The review results show that the local government's response relies on their capacities, such as budget, human resources, and leadership. However, challenges arise when central and local governments' action is not in line in terms of the regional autonomy system. The public and political communication among central and local governments should be rearranged with an integration under proper management, particularly in the first month of the pandemic situation.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss organizational learning and crisis management at Tesla Inc. Digital disruption has made corporate communication required to use agile strategies in dealing with dynamic communication crises. Tesla's communications crisis started with 11 accidents in 2018, and Tesla removed the communications department amid the crisis. The lack of relationship between the media and the company can cause a potential crisis to occur. The disappearance of the communications department has made it difficult for journalists to obtain press releases and made it easier for issues to be uncontrolled. This transformation is a form of organizational learning in facing a crisis and aims to make communication centralized and transparent. Tesla's external communications now use its CEO's Twitter @EllonMusk to communicate with external stakeholders. Tesla's open and innovative corporate culture can influence the company's decisions in dealing with a crisis. This article is analyzed using qualitative methods with a case analysis approach to find solutions to overcome the communication crisis that occurred.

Abstract

The study of the journalist's relation with political authority in Egypt from 1960 to 2011 seeks to reveal, describe, analyze and interpret the journalist's relation with political authority in Egypt during this period and to reach a model that explains the factors affecting the journalist's relation with political authority. This is by exposing the political, legislative, social and cultural factors affecting the journalist's relationship with political authority during the period of study.  This paper aims to reveal the personal characteristics of successive political leaders during the period of study, and their role in shaping the relationship between the journalist and the political authority in Egypt.  In addition to revealing the social development, personal characteristics and professional gradations of a sample of prominent journalists during the course of the study, and the role these factors played in shaping the relationship between the journalist and the political authority in Egypt.  The study found that the media in general, and the press in particular, play a role in political life, whether by expressing interest groups and opinion leaders, or by relying political systems on them to reach out to the public and promote their policies at home and abroad alike.  Media has also proved to be the link between the public on the one hand and political decision makers on the other. The results also confirmed that the media helps the political systems to create public opinion in favor of their policies or to mobilize public opinion against those opposing their policies, which in both cases is a dangerous and vital role.  The study also revealed that the mass media can influence the minds and emotions of the public and change their attitudes and behavior in a way that serves their policies and achieves the interests and goals of the political authority.  The results of the study also confirmed that the legislation and laws prevailing in each country determine the form of the relationship between the press and the political authority.  The results of the study also showed that the forms of relations between journalists and politicians vary, sometimes they are confused, and sometimes stable

It was found that there were different mechanisms by which media use influenced the protective behaviors of the elderly. Authoritative media is able to directly influence the behavior of the elderly, the information function of social media influences their precautionary measures by affecting their perception, and their social function directly promotes the adoption of protective behaviors by the elderly. There are still significant differences in media use between urban and rural elderly groups. Rural elderly groups rely more on interpersonal networks to seek information and their social circles of WeChat acquaintance are closer. Therefore, health communication research among the elderly needs to further focus on the urban-rural differences in their digital inclusion process.

Abstract

This study aims to show whether Twitter analysis can predict and forecast candidates in the Indonesian presidential election in 2024. This study was conducted long before the election began. To reduce the gap and utopian attitude in analyzing, two forms of analysis were used at once, namely sentiment analysis and text searches on Twitter data. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive content analysis. The data was obtained from Twitter social media, with Twitter Search focusing on official accounts and topics surrounding the 2024 presidential election. The search and data collection first adjusted to the trend of poll results spread in online news. The trend resulting from the poll is used to adjust the names of candidates to be searched for on Twitter search. The analysis tool used also utilizes the Nvivo 12 Plus analysis software. This study succeeded in mapping out three potential candidates in the 2024 election, namely Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto. The mapping of potential candidates also has correspondence with the results of opinion polls in newspapers. From these findings, the information and data on Twitter help make predictions and an alternative to using the poll method. The drawback of this study lies in the limited use of time, so it is recommended that further research be carried out to collect and analyze similar data regularly until the election period. This may indicate that Twitter can predict earlier or better than polls.
