Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how firm value is influenced by liquidity, leverage, firm size and profitability partially and simultaneously. Purposive sampling was used to select nine pharmaceutical subsector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2018-2022. The analysis uses panel data regression. The results show that simultaneously liquidity measured using current ratio, leverage with debt to asset ratio, firm size using natural logarithm (total assets) and profitability measured through return on assets affect firm value measured by price book value. Profitability partially has an impact on firm value but liquidity, leverage and firm size have no effect. This research suggests that companies and investors should re-evaluate other factors that impact firm value. Morever, for future researchers, they can add various other factors and develop this research further.

Abstract

The alignment between educational and industrial needs is an important factor in driving economic growth and workforce readiness. In South Sumatra Province, vocational high schools and polytechnics play a crucial role in equipping students with the technical and practical skills necessary for employment in key sectors such as plantations, feed, oil and gas, and coal-based industries. However, there is a gap between the competencies offered by educational institutions and the demands of the growing industry, especially in emerging areas such as digital transformation and sustainability. This study aims to map the competence of vocational schools and polytechnics to leading industries in South Sumatra using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and input-output analysis. GIS is used to analyze the spatial distribution of educational institutions and their proximity to industrial centers, while input-output analysis assesses competency flows into industry-specific needs. Data on educational programs, graduate output, and industry requirements are compiled and analyzed to identify gaps and areas for improvement. The results reveal strong alignment in traditional industries such as rubber, palm oil, and mining, while significant gaps are observed in emerging areas such as green energy and digital technologies. Urban areas such as Palembang were found to have a higher concentration of educational institutions and diverse programs, while rural areas faced limited access to specialized training. The study emphasizes the importance of modernizing curriculum, investing in infrastructure, and encouraging industry-education collaboration to address these gaps.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of corporate governance mechanisms, specifically institutional and managerial ownership, on the earnings quality of transportation firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2018 and 2022. The study utilized secondary data derived from financial reports, with multiple linear regression analysis executed via SPSS 23. The findings indicate that managerial ownership exerts a significantly positive effect on earnings quality, whereas institutional ownership demonstrates a significantly negative influence. These findings suggest that transportation companies need to enhance communication with institutional shareholders to manage short-term pressures that may lead to earnings manipulation. Additionally, increasing managerial ownership can promote higher earnings quality and sustainable company performance. For investors, this emphasizes the importance of monitoring corporate governance practices and management performance as potential indicators of earnings manipulation. Recommendations for future research include a deeper exploration of corporate governance variables, extending the study period, including more industry sectors, and also employing alternative methods for a more comprehensive evaluation of earnings quality. Overall, this study underscores the crucial role of effective corporate governance in enhancing transparency and accuracy in corporate financial reporting.

Abstract

This study analyses the difference in Trading Volume Activity (TVA) of issuers involved in the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) development before and after Indonesia's 2024 presidential election. Using an event study approach, observations were made over 10 days before and after the election. The research used secondary quantitative data, including stock trading volume, number of shares outstanding, daily closing prices, and the Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG). A purposive sampling method was used to select 62 issuers. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test with SPSS 21 was applied to test the hypothesis. Results show a significant difference in TVA, indicating a positive capital market response to the 2024 election, suggesting high information content. Future research should consider a larger sample, more complex analysis, and a shorter observation period (e.g., 5 days) to minimise non-political influences such as dividends or stock splits. Investors are advised to consider issuer-specific factors and not rely solely on political events, as not all events provide strong decision-making signals. Findings indicate that the firm maintained a financially sound status solely in the year 2019. From 2020 to 2023, the scores were below the threshold, indicating that PT Sarimelati Kencana was experiencing financial distress. The method demonstrated an accuracy rate of 80% with no kesalahan tipe I errors and a weighted error rate of 20%.
