Abstract

Miangas Island is one of the outer islands of Indonesia. Determining policies for optimal and sustainable spatial use of coastal areas on Miangas Island requires a deep understanding of the people who live there. Observation survey and interview methods were used to collect primary data. The analysis used is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to formulate solutions to land use conflicts in coastal and marine areas. The results of the analysis of conflict resolution on the use of coastal space using AHP show that the criteria that have a large influence on the purpose of conflict resolution analysis are land availability and suitability, and the first priority for alternative spatial development for the coastal area of Talaud Islands Regency is the development of fishery areas.

Abstract

Oryzias celebensis is a species of medaka fish in South Sulawesi. During incubation, the growth and development of these fish embryos depend on the nutrients stored in the eggs. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the volume size of egg yolks and oil droplets and the absorption rate of egg yolks of O. celebensis embryos that reared in different incubation media. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four rearing media treatments, namely A (Early Rearing Media), B (bottled water), C (Pattunuang river water) and D (well water) with five replications . The results showed that the volume of egg yolk and O. celebensis embryo oil in each medium showed a decrease in volume size along with the embryonic development stage. The absorption rate of yolk in O. celebensis embryos in media A had the biggest yolk absorption with an average 0.015±0.038 mm3 while media D had the smallest yolk absorption with an average 0.011±0.022 mm3.

Abstract

Vaname shrimp is one of the fishery products that are expected to produce foreign exchange for the country besides tiger shrimp.  One factor that can affect the growth and the production of vaname shrimp culture is dense stocking. The research was conducted in October-December 2016 at the Balai Benih Ikan Pantai (BBIP) Ghonebalano, aims to determine the effect of different stocking density on the growth and survival of vaname shrimp.  The research was using Completely Randomized Design with three treatment levels of density, i.e. treatment A = 10 individuals per container, treatment B = 15 individuals per container and treatment C = 20 individuals per container and three replications.  The results showed that the highest growth was obtained in treatment A which was 1,563 g/individuals, compared with treatment B (1.189 g/individuals) and C treatment (0.834 g/individuals).  Survival rate in treatment A is 80.00%, B treatment equal to 75,56% and treatment C equal to 70,00%.  Analysis of variance at 95% confidence level (α0.05) showed that the different density had a significant effect on growth, but had no significant effect on survival rate of the vaname shrimp larvae.

Abstract

The study was conducted in December 2016 to February 2017 in East Halmahera waters with the aim to examine the relationship between the length of weight and potential and the level of utilization of tuna. The results showed that the long frequency distribution of tuna was ranging from 10.0-28.2 cm, with a maximum length value of 29.93 cm, a growth coefficient of 0.74 per month and a measure of fish worth catching for spawning. The relationship between the weight of tuna in East Halmahera waters is W=0.0078L3.2982, where the length of tuna is greater than this weight increase due to environmental conditions and oceanographic parameters that affect the growth of tuna. The results of the MSY analysis or the sustainable resource potential of tuna in East Halmahera waters using the Fox method, found that the MSY value or sustainable potential of tuna was 4,176.54, with a maximum effort level of 8,047 Trips. This utilization rate is still low from the value of MSY and continues to decline this is due to the low value of fishing efforts.

Abstract

Microplastics is a problem that has been concerning, especially in marine habitat. The presence of microplastics in large quantities will have an impact on the environment and marine organisms. Marine organisms that are vulnerable to contamination by microplastics pollutants namely green mussels (Perna viridis). This study aims to determine the microplastics forms and concentration found in green mussels (Perna viridis) in Maccini Baji Waters, Labakkang District, Pangkejene Kepulauan Regency, South Sulawesi. The sampling of the mussels was carried out by the method of purposive random sampling with the sample was grouped into 3 groups of shells lengths, namely 2-3.9 cm, 4-5.9 cm and 6-7.9 cm with 33 individuals for each group. Microplastics observations were carried out using a stereo microscope. In addition to analyze microplastics concentrations, an analysis of the frequency of microplastics presence in shells was also carried out. The results showed that the microplastics was found in the form of fiber and fragments with several colors namely clear white, blue, black, red, and purple. The frequency of microplastics presence in green mussels was above 50% with an average of 71.7% exposure to microplastics. The highest frequency of microplastics presence and concentration in the range of shell lengths accounting for 2-3.9 cm.

Abstract

Research has been done on the model of nutrient distribution and current pattern in coastal water of Tanjungpinang City. The research objective was to develop a model of nutrient distribution and current patterns in coastal waters and small islands as an effort to manage the eutofication of coastal waters and small islands in the archipelago. Determining the location of the observations was done by purposive sampling at high tide and low tide at several predetermined research stations. The results showed the nutrient distribution model in the waters of Tanjungpinang Bay, a different distribution pattern compared to the waters of the Dompak Strait, with the distribution of nutrients from the yield model at low tide and at high tide shows the same pattern, which tends to decrease offshore and high in some coastal locations. around the waters of the Sei. Carang estuary which is connected to the waters of Tanjungpinang Bay. The pattern of currents during the highest tide is bandage and full moon in coastal waters and small islands in the area of Tanjungpinang City, which shows that the inlet flows from the west of the waters, then exits towards the north into open water. However, part of the water mass in the presence of small islands around it becomes fragmented causing a turn to the south of the coastal waters of the city of Tanjungpinang, with a maximum current speed of 1.1 m/s.
