Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors that affect sharia capital market literacy among high school students and teachers. Using a quantitative approach, as many as 38 teachers and students in Curup City, were surveyed to analyze the influence of variables such as education level, investment experience, information sources, financial knowledge, family support, investment motivation, and religious understanding on sharia capital market literacy. The results of the study show that family support, ease of access to information, and religious understanding have a significant influence on sharia capital market literacy. The factors of education and investment experience did not show significant influence, suggesting that practical experience and knowledge were more important than formal theory. The implications of Islamic financial education policies and recommendations to improve financial literacy among students and teachers are discussed further.

Abstract

The Qurʼān affirms the principle of social justice in the form of the phrase that the control of camels and horses from the spoils of war is under the control of Allah and the Messenger, his relatives, orphans, the poor and travellers. The mention of orphans and travellers, who are generally known to be propertyless people, is understood as Allah's way of making property or assets in modern terms circulate only among the rich. This article explains the hermeneutics of the word Māl and its relevance to social justice. This library research is a descriptive-analysis of the interpretation of Māl. The primary data are the Qurʼān and Hassan Hanafi's book. Secondary data are social justice literature and research on Hassan Hanafi's hermeneutics. Hassan Hanafi interprets the term Māl in terms that wealth is actually a trust, an alliance, a way of planting goodness (investment), and prohibits people from misusing it. The word māl has a strong relevance to the values of social justice. In the ideology of Pancasila, the goal of social justice is a social/state order that is balanced, organised, dignified and helps the weak. And it prohibits things that are detrimental to the common good, practices that benefit the few and harm the many.

Abstract

This article focuses on Pope Francis Urbi et orbi (from the city of Rome to the entire world) a papal address that invites humanity to listen to the silent and invisible voices of the field who contributed much to the fight against COVID-19 yet suffered discrimination and inequality. Highlighted in the text were the voices of the field, the vulnerable humanity severely affected by the pandemic yet their works and contributions were made hidden and invisible. These are women behind the pandemic whose dedication as essential workers is unquestionable yet poorly recognized in a male-dominated society. In anticipation of the tragic event that proceeds after the pandemic, the Pope invites everyone to pray and reflect on procuring the grace of God as a fundamental instrument of redirecting one's undesirable attitude toward women an essential key toward integral human development and the rebuilding of humanity in the spirit of solidarity. Thus, the paper exposes the role of women during the pandemic, and (2) argues that gender sensitivity is possible through prayer and reflection as articulated by the Pope.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the resistance efforts of West Papuans in land blocking in the form of demands for compensation, customary bars, complaints and demands, coordination with other parties and the use of traditional leadership systems. In Papuan culture, talking about land means talking about people at the same time. On the other hand, this research also analyzes the phenomenon of land blocking as a form of resistance to the development process in Papua. This stems from the concept that development that does not involve the community in the planning process will have an impact on the process. Resistance is seen as a model of resistance to the development process in the form of rejection, blockading and even carried out openly in the form of protests and demonstrations. The method used is qualitative research, using an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and literature studies. Data analysis in the study adopted the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that land for the Papuan people has a very important role in life and is interpreted as Mama who contains and gives life to humans. In addition, resistance is understood as a form of protest against the development process carried out on the land of the Papuan people

Abstract

Determination of Qibla direction is an important aspect in the implementation of Muslim worship. One of the methods used is rashd al-qiblah, which is a direct observation based on the shadow of an object when the sun is directly above the Kaaba. However, the use of rashd al-qiblah that considers the shape of the Earth's ellipsoid through Vincenty Theory is still very limited. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of determining the Qibla direction using two geometric approaches, namely the spherical plane and the ellipsoid, and compare it with the results of direct observation using the rashd al-qiblah method. The research location is focused on Banjarmasin, which is geographically qualified to use the rashd al-qiblah method. The results of this study are expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the differences in accuracy between the two calculation methods and the direct observation method. The analysis also aims to evaluate the reliability of the ellipsoid-based method in the context of Qibla direction determination practice. The findings of this study can be an important reference for phalacticians and the general public in choosing the most accurate method for Qibla direction determinatio

Abstract

This article analyses the disputed narratives regarding women's identity and public space in Pakistani society, as reflected in the ideological struggle between traditionalist and non-traditionalist power blocs. The primary objective of this research is to explore how group-based threat feelings shape the narrative and counter-narrative of gender rights, feminism, and religious identity in Pakistan. The study also aspires to analyze how the traditionalists perpetuate religious patriarchy, whereas non-traditionalists promote more political and social engagement of women. Based on Group Threat Theory as a conceptual lens, the study employs a qualitative case study methodology. It draws on social media data from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, complemented with newspaper, television, journal articles, and protest archives. Data were collected through thematic content analysis of social media, visual media, and grassroots activism, using search terms such as "Aurat March" and "anti-feminism Pakistan." The findings indicate an intense intergroup tension: women's rights organizations, civil society, and feminist foreign policy-supporting media voices, all non-traditionalists, believe women's liberty is under an existential threat due to entrenched religious patriarchy. They counter by demanding women's empowerment on such matters as body rights, marriage, dowry, and public participation. Alternatively, traditionalists view these demands as a cultural and symbolic threat to male authority, Islamic values, and morality. This results in militant counter-discourses, institutionalized resistance at the state level, and efforts to solidify conservative gender norms. The article finds that this intensifying group threat dynamic has grown into a bigger political and cultural conflict, setting gender identity politics in Pakistan but also across similarly structured postcolonial Muslim nations.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of the Meutaloe Wareeh agricultural empowerment model in organic rice farmer groups in North Aceh. Meutaloe Wareeh is a local wisdom approach rooted in the values of cooperation and togetherness in Acehnese society, which is applied in sustainable agricultural land management. This model integrates organic farming practices with the principles of active farmer participation, environmentally friendly natural resource management, and capacity building through training and mentoring. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Meutaloe Wareeh model significantly increased organic rice productivity and farmer welfare in North Aceh. In addition, this model has succeeded in reducing farmer dependence on chemical agricultural inputs and increasing local food security. Factors such as community commitment, government support, and access to organic markets have also played a role in the success of this model. However, challenges related to technology adaptation and climate change are still major concerns. Overall, the Meutaloe Wareeh model has proven great potential as a holistic and sustainable agricultural empowerment strategy, which can be replicated in other areas with adjustments to the local context.

Abstract

International, national, and local religious leaders and organizations' contributions to promote public health are increasingly being explored and explicated. Religious leaders and faith-based organizations can potentially play strong roles in influencing health behaviours, and compelling obedience to health policies, and health intervention measures. Importantly, they can help frame approaches that will ensure the successful implementation of health policies and measures. The central aim of this qualitative study is to explore and examine the role of religious bodies, as community gatekeepers and trusted authorities, in supporting health interventions and promoting their compliance. This study particularly focuses on the extent of their influence and the nature of the support they offer. The population for this study comprises 15 Christian and Muslim religious leaders in Yola North and South Local Government Area of Adamawa state in Nigeria who represented the views of their organizations. The questions centred on the spiritual, psychosocial, and humanitarian role they played during the peak outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the dialogues and partnerships they had with the government and health authorities, and the extent of their contribution to supporting health policies. The study finds that religious leaders can positively lend their reputation, offer guidance, and galvanize community effort to support behavioural changes, drive healthcare and ensure compliance with health measures.

Abstract

The Pattaungeng tradition is one of the cultural heritages of the Bugis people in Soppeng Regency, which is held annually as a form of gratitude for the harvest and respect for ancestors. This research aims to examine the role of the Pattaungeng tradition in strengthening social cohesion within the community. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants include traditional figures, village government officials, and community members who actively participate in the tradition. The research findings indicate that the Pattaungeng tradition plays a significant role in strengthening social cohesion thru five main dimensions: (1) preserving cultural identity as a collective symbol of Bugis society, (2) intergenerational integration thru the transfer of values and norms, (3) the practice of collective deliberation (tudang sipulung) as a means of building consensus, (4) symbolic relationships with religion that provide spiritual legitimacy for cultural practices, and (5) strengthening socio-economic networks thru community cooperation and mutual contribution. This finding confirms that Pattaungeng is not merely a cultural ritual, but also a social mechanism that maintains solidarity, prevents individualism, and strengthens community bonds amidst the currents of modernization.
