Dialectical Literature and Education Journal
Dialectical Literature and Education Journal is a journal that publishes original papers researching or documenting issues in literature and education. It is published by English Education Department, STKIP Panca Sakti Bekasi. The journal has regularly published two times a year in March and October. We accept original research, conceptual, and best practice articles related to literature and education. The language of the journal is English. The aim of this Journal is to promote a principled approach to research on literature and language-related concerns by encouraging inquiry into relationship between theoretical and practical studies. The journal welcomes contributions in such areas of current analysis in: English Language Pedagogy; English language Literacy; English for Specific Purposes; ELT Materials Development and Evaluation; English Language Testing and Assessment; Teaching English to Young Learners; English Literature; Language Policy and Planning; and Second Language Acquisition.

Sociolinguistics is a study of the connection between language and society. People have a different language style when they interact with each one. By many variations that they have, it can be possible for them to mix their language in their utterance—mixing one language with the other languages, in the sociolinguistics field, is called by code-mixing. It has been common to use of code-mixing in society. It happens in the one of the public figures and famous that is Mr. Nadiem Makariem. Therefore, this research focuses on code mixing that emerges on video of Mr. Nadiem Makariem. The objective of this research is to find out the types and levels of code mixing that appear on the video. This research was descriptive qualitative method and the researchers act as the main instrument of this research. In collecting the data, this research utilized documentation method. This study employed content analysis focusing on analyzing the types of code mixing which defined by Hoffman and the levels of code mixing that argued by Suwito. Then, the result of types and levels of code mixing were counted by using Walizer’s formula. The result shows that there were 134 data in the types and levels of code mixing. In the types of code mixing, the highest type was intra-sentential of code mixing (88.8%) and the lowest type was involving a change of pronunciation (0%). While, in the levels of code mixing, word level (44.8%) becomes the dominant while word repetition (3%) and idiom (1.5%) were the lowest.

This research discussed the semiotic analysis of idiomatic expressions found in The Maze Runner: The Death Cure movie by Wess Ball and its impact on English. This research aimed to find idiomatic expressions revealed in the dialogue in the movie; to find the meaning of symbols contained idiomatic expressions in dialogues; to find the impact of semiotic analysis in idiomatic expressions found in movie. In this research, researchers used qualitative research in the type of content analysis using descriptive approach to help the analysis of the data that found in the movie. The researchers looked for idiomatic expressions in the movie and symbols of idiomatic expressions. Finally, researchers reveal the impact of semiotic analysis in idioms found in movie on English. From the results, there are 59 idiom expressions divided into lexemic and sememic idioms. From lexemic idiom found 37 phrasal verbs; 2 irreversible binomials; 10 phrasal compounds; and 1 incorporating verb. From the sememic idiom found 2 idioms of politeness; 1 idiom of detachment; 4 idioms of greeting; and 2 famous quotations idioms. There are 26 symbols from 59 idiom expression in the movie. Its effects on English make students more fluent in English and look like native speakers, add new vocabulary, make students aware of cultural differences in language, and know more about meaning.

Education as a dynamic process in which children develop according to the inner terms of their lives, with their "voluntary work" when placed in an environment that is prepared to give them freedom of self-expression. One aspect that needs to be developed from an early age is language, the most ideal for learning a language other than the mother tongue (first language). The purpose of this research was to find out and get information about children's language improvement through singing activities, Research Subject was students at Kindergarten Al Marjan Bekasi. The type of research methodology is a descriptive qualitative method. Source of the data for this research took from the principal and teachers. The object were 26 students of Group B. Data collection technique through the results of the observations, interviews, documentation and field notes as data supporting. The type of observation used is passive participation observation. The stages of data analysis were consisted of data before, data in the field, and after completion of the field. Data validity checking techniques are based on credibility, transferability, dependability, confirmability. In checking the validity researcher used a degree of trust, with platform learning at home using social media as a communication tool between teachers and students. The result of this research, there is a significant increasing children’s language skill through singing activities.

Speaking is a productive skill that can be immediately observed. The major goal of all English language teaching should be to provide learners with the ability to use English effectively and accurately to achieve better communication. However, some students still have difficulty in speaking, because of their different performance levels. They process information differently and there is a difference in personality (extrovert and introvert). This current research is to investigate whether there is a significant difference between introvert and extrovert students on their speaking achievement at Cambridge School of English. 23 students were selected as the sample and their personality type was determined by using Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and their speaking score from the speaking test. This research was quantitative approach; a non-experimental research design. The result of the research reveals that there is a different mean score between the extrovert and introvert students although the difference is slight, the mean score of the extrovert students is 74 and introvert students is 76.54. Meanwhile by collecting numerical data analyzed using SPSS 22, the result of the independent sample t-test shows that the t-table is higher than t-count (-1.360

This research focuses on the analysis of using Google Classroom, Zoom and YouTube as social media applications to learning English. The objective of this research is to know the role of social media (Zoom, Google Classroom and YouTube) for the student’s learning achievement at SMA Islam As-Syafi’iyah 01. This research used the descriptive analysis method. The data of this research are questions given to the students using google form and collecting their final score from the English teacher. Then, the result of this research; Most of students (57 % of 100 samples) using their gadgets more than three hours per day. The observation found 96% of 100 population and from questionnaire got 70% are always and 19% are usually using social media for learning. 79,7% of students said that Google Classroom, Zoom and YouTube are popular and easy to use in language learning. Based on the questionnaire researchers found 53% are always and 30% are usually agreed when they must study using Google Classroom, Zoom and YouTube. Researchers found that 18% of the population are always and the other 48% are usually got good final scores during online learning using social media. More ever using social media, make students have appropriate platform to study in pandemic era and also can improve their achievement using social media at once.

This research aims to find out the effect of zoom meeting on e-learning in student speaking skill at ninth grade of SMPN 35 Bekasi. The use of zoom meetings supports the learning process in the covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in July 2021. The analysis used in quantitative research is experimental design. This research sample is 40 students in grade ninth with divided into two groups, namely a control group with a total of 20 students and an experiment group with a total of 20 students. Data collection is carried out with a test technique system to get the results of students' speaking skills. Statistical test using SPSS 22. The results showed that there was a difference between the control group and the experiment group. This can be proven by; 1. Instrument test results with a reliability level of 0.800 which means that the results are valid. 2. 2. the test result t is a significance score (2-tailed) from the test result of 0.00 < 0.05 so that a sig score of 0.00 is seen to show the effect of using zoom meetings in speech ability in SMPN 35 Bekasi.

This research describes a classroom action research (CAR) held in Bilingual Kindergarten, Gambir - DKI Jakarta, through the implementation of Jolly Phonics Method to improve the basic ability in spelling using the letter sounds. There are 10 students as a population in one class for K2 level (age 5 years). In this research article, the writer used qualitative method and experimental method to get the data. The major goal of Jolly Phonics method teaching, students have achievements are much greater in both reading and writing relating the letter sounds based on students spelling skills. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle included four stages: planning, observing, improving, and practicing. The data were obtained by the result of pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II. The finding result of the students of at pre-cycle was 63, then increase to 68 for the first cycle, the last increase up to 73 for the second cycle. The teaching of Jolly Phonics includes 5 teaching points. Those are learning the letter sounds, learning letter formation, blending, identifying sounds in words, and tricky words. The data that were obtained qualitatively and quantitatively show that Jolly Phonics Method could improve: (l) the students’ ability in remembering the letter that represent of each sound is taught with an action, (2) the students’ ability in pronouncing the letter sounds correctly, (3) the students’ ability in spelling the words correctly. The major goal and result of Jolly Phonics method that students have achievements are much greater in both reading and writing relating the letter sounds based on students spelling skills.

This examination endeavors to work on understudies' accomplishment recorded as a hard copy elucidating text through short narrative film. This investigation was led by utilizing homeroom activity research. The subject of this investigation is class XI-B SMA 71 which comprised of 28 understudies. The examination was led in two cycles, cycle I comprised of two gatherings and cycle II comprised of two gatherings. The instruments of gathering the information were subjective information (meeting and perception sheet). In view of composing scores, understudies' score continued working on in each composing test. In direction test, the mean score was 58,86. In the trial of cycle I the mean score was 67,46 and the mean score in the trial of cycle II was 79,10.Based on the meeting and perception sheet it was tracked down that the understudies were intrigued, genuine, dynamic, roused, energetic recorded as a hard copy. The after effect of the examination showed that short narrative film essentially worked on understudies' accomplishment recorded as a hard copy spellbinding message.

This research aims to produce development instruments and knowing the feasibility of development instrument by using google form application as a medium in the learning process of writing descriptive text in VII-A grade of SMP N 35 Bekasi. The research method that researcher use in is research and development (R&D). The data collection in this research is test and interview. The population in this research is all VII grade students of SMP N 35 Bekasi the number of students is 40 students. From this population, researcher took sample using random sampling. Thus, the sample in this research was obtained by VII-A grade students with a total of 13 men and 11 women. The overall test results showed good results i.e. obtained a very decent category with details: (1) Cronbach's Alpha reliability test obtained a .747, (2) Cohen's Kappa inter-rater reliability test (k) appraiser 1 and appraiser 2 obtained a valid result of 100% missing 0%. Based on the results of the reliability test feasibility, it can be concluded that learning media using google form application is very feasible to be used in the online learning process during pandemic covid-19 as a medium in making descriptive text writing in grade VII SMP N 35 Bekasi.

YouTube is an online media platform containing a variety of videos. It is also a place to post, share, and download videos. Its users range from children, teenagers, adults to parents, and no exception including students. This study aims to investigate the effect of using YouTube on students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary of the ninth grade at SMPN 35 Bekasi. A quantitative method was employed in this study involving 74 students from two groups – experimental class and control class. Data were obtained using questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were distributed to both groups and interviews were conducted in one group, i.e., experimental class. Data were calculated using the SPSS 22.00 computer program for the window. The results show that there was a significant effect of the use of YouTube on students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary in the ninth grade. The effect can be seen from the difference in the results of table of descriptive statistics with the mean value of the experimental class of 51.38 higher than that of the control class of 43.59 with each respondent (N) 37. The significant value of independent sample t-test calculated sig. (2-tailed).000 was < 0.05. This study indicates that the technique of using YouTube motivates students in learning English vocabulary.
