Abstract

Purpose — This study aims to analyze the effect of service quality and customer experience on customer loyalty in the logistics service industry, with customer satisfaction as a mediating factor.Method — This research employed a quantitative approach, focusing on the JNE customers residing in Sarirogo Village as the targeted population. To ensure a representative sample, purposive sampling technique was utilized, resulting in a sample size of 100 respondents. The assessment of the external model's validity and dependability was conducted through the application of SmartPLS. The hypotheses were then tested utilizing the model output obtained from SmartPLS..Result — The findings of this research indicate that service quality significantly contributes to enhancing customer satisfaction. Additionally, the study demonstrates a positive association between customer experience and customer satisfaction. Moreover, customer satisfaction plays a crucial role in fostering customer loyalty. However, it is important to note that service quality and customer experience do not directly impact customer loyalty in this study's results. Interestingly, when examining the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty, it becomes evident that customer satisfaction acts as a mediator, effectively influencing the connection between the two factors in a positive manner. Similarly, in the case of the relationship between customer experience and customer loyalty, customer satisfaction also acts as a mediating variable, playing a positive role in linking the independent variable to the dependent variable.Contribution — This study contributes by revealing the impact of service quality and customer experience on customer loyalty mediated by customer satisfaction within the logistics service industry.

Abstract

Purpose — This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of board of directors on firm performance.Method — This study focuses on a population of mining sector companies that went public on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2019 and 2021. We analyzed a sample of 30 such companies. Our independent variable is the role of the board of directors, while the dependent variable is the performance of the company. We further examined intellectual capital and sustainability reporting as mediating variables. For our analysis, we employed the Partial Least Squares method using the SmartPLS version 3 software.Result — This study elucidates that while independent board directors do not directly influence a firm's performance, they significantly impact its intellectual capital, comprising knowledge, experience, intellectual property, and employee capabilities. This intellectual capital directly influences the firm's performance, suggesting an indirect route by which independent directors contribute to the firm's success. Moreover, independent directors also directly affect the firm's sustainability reporting, encompassing the disclosure of its economic, environmental, and social impacts. Like intellectual capital, sustainability reporting also impacts the firm's performance, providing another indirect pathway for independent directors to affect performance. Thus, intellectual capital and sustainability reporting serve as mediators between independent directors and firm performance, underscoring the crucial, albeit indirect, role these directors play in propelling a firm's success.Contribution — This research provides a valuable contribution to the academic community. First, this study integrates previous research into one research model. Second, this study examines sustainability reports as a mediating variable that is rarely studied.

Abstract

Purpose — This paper aims to investigate how electronic Word of Mouth (e-WOM), product quality, and brand image influence consumer purchasing decisions in the skincare industry.Method —  This study utilizes a quantitative research method involving 100 consumers of cosrx skincare products as respondents. The researchers adopted non-probability sampling techniques, specifically purposive sampling, to select participants for the study. Primary data was collected through questionnaires distributed on Twitter, where respondents provided direct responses using a Likert scale. To analyze the data and assess the positive and significant effects, the researchers employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) version 4.0.Result — The findings of the study indicate that both e-WOM and product quality have a positive and statistically significant influence on consumer purchasing decisions. Additionally, the research highlights the mediating role played by brand image, which serves as a connecting factor between e-WOM, product quality, and the ultimate purchasing decisions of consumers. This suggests that a favorable brand image enhances the impact of positive e-WOM and product quality on consumers' willingness to make a purchase.Contribution — This research adds to the existing body of knowledge by specifically focusing on the skincare industry and providing empirical evidence for the interplay between e-WOM, product quality, brand image, and their influence on consumer purchasing decisions, while also uncovering the mediating role of brand image.

Abstract

Purpose — The main objective of this study is to analyze the influence of socioeconomic development and fiscal decentralization on environmental quality in Indonesia, as well as to identify causal relationships between them.Method — The data utilized in this study are secondary data collected over the period from 2010 to 2020. Data sources were obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Central Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Finance, and the World Bank. This study uses a quantitative approach in dynamic panel data analysis with a generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation analysis. The causal relationship between environmental quality and the research variables is analyzed using the Granger causality test.Result — The study's findings indicate the presence of the reverse of an Environmental Kuznet Curve (EKC) relationship between Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita and environmental quality. Environmental quality is influenced positively and significantly by various factors, including human development, expenditure on environmental functions, poverty, and the manufacturing industry. On the other hand, fiscal transfers and urbanization have a negative and significant effect on environmental quality.Contribution — A more comprehensive analysis of the impact of development achievements in Indonesia on environmental quality indicators is needed at the provincial government level, considering economic development, social development, and governance aspects. This study also classifies research results based on three regional classifications and includes GMM estimation analysis, which has not been widely done.

Abstract

Purpose — The purpose of this study is to determine the convergence of economic growth in the regencies and cities of South Sulawesi.Method — The type of data utilized in this study is quantitative, sourced from secondary data obtained from the Indonesian central statistics agency/ Badan Pusat Statistik of the districts and cities within South Sulawesi Province. The convergence analysis in this study is divided into two categories, namely sigma convergence and beta convergence. The application of sigma convergence aims to assess the level of disparity based on economic growth.Result — The results of the sigma convergence analysis indicate that there has been sigma convergence in South Sulawesi Province from 2015 to 2022, as evident from the decreasing Unweighted Coefficient of Variation value. Furthermore, the analysis of beta convergence was conducted using both absolute convergence and conditional convergence models, focusing on the economic growth of all districts/cities in South Sulawesi. The findings also reveal that the average length of schooling does not have a significant effect on economic growth. However, investment demonstrates a significant impact on the economic growth of districts/cities within the province of South Sulawesi.Contribution — The academic contribution of this study lies in its novel focus on convergence analysis of economic growth in regions/cities within South Sulawesi Province, specifically investigating the potential catching-up process and convergence in rising per capita income, which has been relatively overlooked in prior research predominantly centered on overall economic development at regional or national levels.
