Abstract

Bathrooms or toilets are an essential part of daily life, serving as places for personal cleansing and relieving oneself. In Islam, such activities are not only related to physical cleanliness but also to moral values and ethics emphasized in the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The purpose of this study is to analyze the proper manners and recommended practices for using the bathroom as stated in the Prophet’s hadiths, such as supplicating before entering, entering with the left foot, maintaining modesty, and following appropriate procedures when entering and leaving the bathroom. Through an examination of these hadiths, this study seeks to explore the deeper meanings behind Islamic teachings that regulate human behavior in everyday situations. The analysis is conducted by reviewing the religious, moral, and social contexts of each relevant hadith in order to understand why Islam places cleanliness and propriety as integral parts of faith. This research employs a qualitative approach based on library research to collect data. The approach involves engaging with relevant literature and ideas to draw conclusions. Muslims may gain new insights from the results of this study regarding the importance of good manners in all aspects of life, even in matters that may seem trivial, such as using the bathroom. Thus, this study affirms that both physical and spiritual cleanliness are tangible manifestations of the faith and discipline of a Muslim who strives to comprehensively follow the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Abstract

The dance challenge phenomenon on social media platforms such as TikTok has become a popular trend among Generation Z, while also raising moral and spiritual issues concerning the boundaries of entertainment from an Islamic perspective. Many young people perceive entertainment as a form of freedom of expression without considering the values of manners (adab) and ethics taught by the Prophet Muhammad. This study aims to examine the meaning of hadiths on entertainment and pleasure in Islam, describe the dance challenge phenomenon and the behavior of Generation Z on social media, analyze such behavior from the perspective of hadith, and explore the relevance of prophetic teachings to the challenges of contemporary digital life. Using a library research method with a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected from thematic hadiths, classical and contemporary Islamic literature, as well as recent studies on the digital behavior of young people. The findings reveal that entertainment in Islam is not absolutely prohibited but should remain within the limits of moderation (wasathiyah) and the principles of sharia. The hadiths emphasize the importance of balance between physical and spiritual needs and warn against entertainment that involves immorality (ma‘siat), tabarruj, or digital ostentation (riya’). The dance challenge can be positive when directed toward creative and educational expression but becomes negative when it violates Islamic moral norms. Therefore, the hadith serves as an ethical guideline for young Muslims to enjoy digital entertainment in a healthy, refined, and spiritually meaningful way.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of the prophetic value of sincerity (ikhlas), derived from hadith literature, into the contemporary academic work ethic. Within the modern higher education landscape, systemic pressures surrounding publication metrics and institutional prestige frequently shift scholarly focus from a genuine pursuit of knowledge toward transactional productivity. Employing a qualitative-descriptive library research method, this paper utilizes takhrij al-hadith (hadith authentication), matn (textual) analysis, and contextual interpretation of prophetic traditions regarding the virtues and dedication of seeking knowledge (talab al-'ilm). Positioned as a purely text-based inquiry, this study bypasses field research to focus strictly on hadith texts and their implementation within modern Islamic education. The findings demonstrate that the prophetic traditions heavily emphasize foundational virtues—such as sincere intention (niyyah), discipline, perseverance, consistency (istiqamah), and accountability—which serve as the bedrock for robust academic motivation. These values not only elevate the intellectual capacities of learners but also fortify their moral, spiritual, and social character. Furthermore, this study argues that ikhlas, when properly conceptualized, does not diminish professional output; instead, it refines the academic work ethic by fostering intellectual honesty, mitigating professional burnout, and instilling a profound sense of social responsibility. Practically, these insights provide a strategic framework for educators and Islamic academic institutions to cultivate a scholarly culture rooted in rigorous discipline, integrity, and spiritual values, proving that the prophetic ethos of learning remains deeply relevant to contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed prophetic tradition (hadith) studies by expanding data accessibility, accelerating digital tracing (takhrij), and optimizing text classification. However, AI simultaneously poses profound epistemological challenges concerning authenticity, verification, and scholarly authority. Within the Islamic tradition, the validity of hadith knowledge is anchored in the chain of transmission (sanad), methodological criticism (naqd), and scholarly consensus, whereas AI operates on statistical pattern recognition that is susceptible to historical fabrication, misattribution, and misleading interpretations. This study aims to analyze the epistemological challenges of AI in hadith studies and formulate an integration model that preserves scholarly authority in the digital era. Employing a descriptive qualitative method based on a literature review, this research conducts a thematic analysis of contemporary academic literature. The findings demonstrate that AI must be positioned exclusively as an assistive technology rather than an epistemic authority in hadith scholarship. The novelty of this study lies in the formulation of an epistemic-boundary model that delineates the technical functions of AI from the epistemic authority of Muslim scholars. Through the concept of controlled augmentation, this model restricts AI to operational domains—such as data retrieval and digital classification—while ensuring that sanad validation, textual criticism (naqd al-matn), and normative interpretation remain under scholarly oversight. This model contributes to reinforcing digital hadith literacy without compromising the integrity of Islamic epistemology in the digital age.
