Abstract

Indonesia's education system faces challenges in interactive learning, particularly in religious subjects such as Aqidah Akhlak. The transition to the Merdeka Curriculum encourages the use of innovative media, such as the Big Book, to address low learning outcomes. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Big Book in improving learning outcomes and student motivation in second-grade students at MI Muhammadiyah 5 Banyutengah. The research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest approach on 26 students. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires and analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, correlation analysis, and t-test. The results indicate that the average post-test score was 70.07 (exceeding the minimum mastery criterion of 70), showing a 35.2% increase from the pretest score (51.92). Student motivation increased by 80.77%. The Big Book was effective in enhancing learning outcomes and student participation. The implications of this study suggest that the Big Book is recommended for Islamic religious education and teacher training. However, this study has limitations, including a small sample size (26 students) and a short intervention duration (four weeks). Future research should explore long-term effects and the integration of digital technology.

Abstract

Pesantren Tremas Pacitan, one of the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, has made significant contributions to the formation of scholars and religious leaders for over two centuries. However, the currents of modernization and global development pose significant challenges in maintaining its relevance and effectiveness as an educational institution. This research aims to analyze the institutional transformation of Pesantren Tremas through curriculum adaptation, technology, economic independence, and institutional management to respond to these challenges. Using qualitative methods with a case study approach, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research results show that the pesantren have integrated religious and general education, utilized technology in learning and digital preaching, developed independent business units, and adopted modern management practices. Although there are obstacles such as resistance to change and limited infrastructure, this transformation strengthens the competitiveness of pesantren in the era of globalization. This research concludes that such strategic adaptation can serve as a model for other pesantren in maintaining the balance between innovation and the preservation of traditional Islamic values.

Abstract

This study discusses the epistemology of Ibn 'Asyur's exegesis regarding the concept of the city in the Qur'an, with a focus on various terms such as madinah, balad, qaryah, qura, dar, ard, and misr used in the holy text. Ibn 'Asyur interprets these terms not only as representations of the physical city but also as reflections of urban social and cultural life. Through his exegesis, he integrates interdisciplinary knowledge, such as philosophy, urban sociology, and geography, in explaining the concept of the city in various physical, social, and philosophical contexts. Moreover, this study explores the relevance of Ibn 'Asyur's thinking in the context of modern urban planning and development policies, referencing the ideas of contemporary exegesis scholars like Quraish Shihab. This research provides insights into how Ibn 'Asyur's exegesis can inspire the management of cities based on religious, social, and cultural values, as well as the relevance of local context in governmental policies.

Abstract

This study examines M. Rasyid Ridha’s interpretation of Quranic verses concerning the rights, roles, and etiquette of women as presented in Nidā’ al-Jins al-Latīf. The aim is to understand his exegetical perspectives and the relevance of these verses within the framework of feminist interpretation. The findings reveal that Ridha interprets verses affirming the equality of rights between men and women, such as QS. At-Tawbah 71, which emphasizes their equal participation in various fields of life. Ridha also explains that the concepts of polygamy and the obligation for women to observe modesty in Islam encompass principles of justice, humanity, and the protection of women’s rights. In QS. An-Nisā’ 3 and 129, God underscores that polygamy is permissible only when fairness toward all wives can be upheld, warning that the inability to do so should lead to monogamy. Ridha views polygamy as a limited option that must be carried out with careful consideration to prevent injustice, while Muhammad Abduh cautions against potential harm to marital relationships if polygamy is not managed wisely. Furthermore, the requirement to observe modest clothing, as commanded in QS. Al-Ahzāb 59 and QS. An-Nūr 30–31, serves to protect women from harassment and mistreatment, as well as to preserve their dignity in society. This command relates not only to physical attire but also to the identity and honor of women that must be respected. Nevertheless, the implementation of hijab remains widely debated in discussions of freedom and gender equality. Overall, Islamic teachings on polygamy and modesty demonstrate a commitment to women’s welfare and social justice, maintaining their relevance in the face of contemporary challenges and ongoing social change.

Abstract

Islamic learning which only takes the form of advice, commands, prohibitions and memorization cannot shape students' morals, but requires examples and direct practice so that good character can be integrated with students. Islamic holidays and Islamic holidays are good opportunities to educate religious feelings in the hearts of students. Learning can be defined as an activity designed to help someone learn a new ability and/or value. Therefore, the Islamic learning plan must include all three. Likewise, teachers who teach according to plan must even be able to expand on the material presented because this is useful for cultivating a sense of religion and awakening enthusiasm in the hearts of students. Meanwhile, the problem formulation in this research is: 1) How does Islamic Religious Education Learning affect the behavior of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kelumbayan. 2) What is the behavior of students in Islamic religious education subjects at SMAN 1 Kelumbayan? 3) How does Islamic Religious Education Learning influence the behavior of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kelumbayan? This type of research uses a quantitative approach, namely a research procedure that uses data collection techniques through questionnaires and documentation. Meanwhile, to collect data, researchers use questionnaires and documentation, then the data taken will be analyzed and used as conclusions from the research results. The results of this research show that there is an influence of Islamic Religious Education learning on the behavior of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kelumbayan. This can be seen from the results of a simple regression test via SPSS 22 that the calculated F value is 11.656 with a significance level of 0.001<0.05, meaning that the significant value is smaller than 0.05, meaning that variable X has an effect on variable Y. From the results of the hypothesis test the result is 0.462 using the product moment correlation formula. Meanwhile, rtable at the 5% significance level is 0.2480. Thus, rxy of 0.462 is greater than rtable, therefore rxy of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, so it is known that the Islamic Religious Education learning variable on the character of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kelumbayan shows an influence with a sufficient level of interpretation.

Abstract

This study examines the Islamic ruling on in vitro fertilization (IVF) based on the Al-Burhan fi Ushul al-Fiqh by Imam Haramain Al-Juwaini. The methodology employed includes Qiyas (Analogy), Istihsan (Legal Preference), Sadd al-Dzari’ah (Blocking Harmful Means), and Maslahah (Public Interest in Islamic Law). The findings indicate that IVF is permissible within the boundaries of Islamic law, provided that it does not involve sperm or egg donation, surrogate motherhood, and that lineage remains legally clear. Qiyas links IVF to lineage laws, stipulating that fertilization should occur exclusively between a legally married couple. Istihsan allows IVF in cases of necessity to safeguard couples unable to conceive naturally. Sadd al-Dzari’ah emphasizes the prohibition of any practice that could lead to lineage confusion. Meanwhile, Maslahah justifies IVF when it aligns with maqashid syariah and serves the welfare of those in need. The study underscores the importance of balancing medical advancements with Islamic legal principles, calling for regulations that adhere to Islamic ethics and maqashid syariah to preserve lineage integrity and social justice.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the learning outcomes of students in Arabic language subjects in class VII through mastery of Arabic Mufrodat at the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Muhammadiyah Paciran, the purpose of this study was to determine the learning outcomes of students in Arabic language subjects, and to determine whether there was a significant effect on the mastery of Arabic Mufrodat in the learning outcomes of students in Arabic language subjects. This research was conducted at the Modern Islamic Boarding School Muhammadiyah Paciran in the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a total of 26 respondents, using sample data. Data collection using pre-test and post-test questions. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using a significant test (t-test) obtained t_ (count) of 8.0719, then compared with t_ (table) for a significance level of 5% (0.05) using a two-party test dk = n-2 = 24 then obtained t_ (table) of 2.0638. With this, it is known that t_(calculated) (8.0719) > t_(table) (2.0638), then H_o is rejected and H_a is accepted. It can be concluded that the mastery of Arabic Mufrodat has an influence on the learning outcomes of Arabic class VII at the Modern Islamic Boarding School Muhammadiyah Paciran in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the epistemology of educational leadership by examining educational philosophy within the leadership practices of a female school principal with a Master’s background in science education at SMP Terpadu Cendekia Insani Situbondo during the 2016–2020 period. Employing a qualitative approach and an intrinsic case study design, the research analyzes data obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the leadership style implemented integrates scientific rationality with humanistic and spiritual values, resulting in a collaborative, participatory, and reflective leadership pattern. The epistemological reconstruction that emerges underscores that educational leadership is not merely technical or administrative, but a reflective process involving values, context, and epistemological awareness. The study contributes to the development of a new perspective on educational leadership grounded in the integration of scientific knowledge and humanistic principles, while positioning educational philosophy as an analytical lens in leadership studies. These findings hold significant implications for educational policy development, principal training programs, and future research in reflective and contextual leadership.

Abstract

Low learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) are often associated with students’ lack of motivation and engagement during the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effect of using interactive PowerPoint media on improving students’ learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach through a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. The subjects consisted of 22 fourth-grade elementary students. Data were collected using learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test), observation sheets, and teacher interviews. The findings revealed a substantial enhancement in students’ learning outcomes, with the percentage of learning mastery rising from 27.27% in the pre-cycle to 63.64% after implementing interactive PowerPoint media. The Product Moment correlation test showed a calculated r value of 0.964, exceeding the r table value of 0.423, while the t-test yielded a calculated t value of 16.165, greater than the t table value of 1.717, which signifies a strong and significant correlation between the use of interactive PowerPoint media and students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Education (PAI). The determination test also revealed that 92% of the improvement in learning outcomes was influenced by the use of interactive PowerPoint, while 8% was affected by other factors. Therefore, the use of interactive PowerPoint has been proven to serve as an effective instructional medium for improving students’ comprehension, motivation, and participation in Islamic Religious Education.
