Jurnal Citradirga adalah jurnal ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual Universitas Ma Chung. Citradirga mempublikasikan artikel luaran penelitian, gagasan konseptual, dan review kepustakaan dalam cakupan rumpun ilmu seni, desain, dan media, pada 1) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Kesenian, dalam Bidang Ilmu Seni Intermedia (688), 2) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Media, dalam Bidang Ilmu : a) Fotografi (701); dan b) Televisi/Videografi/Sinematografi (702); serta 3) Sub Rumpun Ilmu Desain, dalam Bidang Ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual (708). Artikel luaran penelitian dapat berupa ringkasan hasil penelitian dasar (kajian, kritik, tinjauan, atau evaluasi), penelitian terapan (perancangan atau penciptaan), dan peneltian pengembangan (research & development), baik yang bersifat monodisipliner maupun interdisipliner. Dalam Bidang Ilmu Seni Intermedia dapat terbagi menjadi beberapa topik semisal Seni Video, Instalasi Video, dan topik lain yang mengeksplorasi dan mengintegrasikan seni visual dan teknologi. Dalam Ilmu Media, dapat berupa topik seperti Fotografi, Videografi, Film Fiksi maupun Dokumenter, dan topik lain yang berkaitan dengan Foto dan Video. Adapun dalam Bidang Ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual dapat berupa topik seperti Desain Grafis, Infografis, Brand Identity, Ilustrasi, Desain Kemasan, Multimedia Interaktif, Animasi, Game Design, Apps Design, dan topik lain yang berkaitan dengan komunikasi visual.

Abstract

Theemergence of various kinds of cafes in Malang City has created a new lifestyle, namely gathering with friends, especially for the younger generation. This lifestyle makes cafes continue to appear in Malang City with concepts that are liked by this generation, one of which is the cozy concept. But this makes the cafés that keep popping up pay less attention to quality in terms of atmosphere and menu because they focus too much on the cozy interior that the younger generation likes. Therefore, information media is needed that can attract tourists and the public in choosing and visiting cafes not only based on trends, through making designs that aim to get concept visualizations through the media of essay photography books that contain information about 8 cafes with cozy concepts in Malang City. The design method used is the creative communication design method and is combined with qualitative data collection methods. This essay photography book uses interior and food photo styles, with a book size of 22.4 x 17 cm with a total of 248 pages, full color, and bound using doff laminated hardcover. The conclusion of this design is to get a visualization of the concept of an essay photography book to provide information about cozy cafes through photo visualization along with narratives through book media and supporting media such as bookmarks, tote bags, photo sheets, stickers, tumblers, acrylic straws, diffusers, and marketing media through social media Instagram.

Abstract

The visual meaning of Van Dillem’s coffee packaging labels is examined in this researh. This coffee is a product from Trenggalek. This product’s packaging label was examined to determine how the visual meaning and whether it correlates with the Trenggalek's local wisdom. Literature analysis and observation are the data collection methods used in this research. The four stages of Feldman’s theory of art criticism—description, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation—are used in this research. Van Dillem coffee carries the name of the region to be exposed to the larger population as a representative product of Trenggalek. Local product packaging labels’ graphic components might reflect regional traits to draw attention to the region of production. The findings indicate that colonialism is visually represented on the coffee product packaging label. The history of coffee product manufacturing in Trenggalek is connected to this aspect of colonialism.

Abstract

Malang District is an area has good tourism potential. One of which is Coban Sewu waterfall located in the Ampelgading Sub-District, Malang District. Coban Sewu waterfall is the most beautiful waterfall on Java Island and Indonesia. However, based on the initial observation, the result is that the lack of local government efforts to introduce more widely on its tourism, so the need for a promotional video to introduce tourism potential contained in Coban Sewu waterfall. Using methods qualitative research methods and research strategies are qualitative descriptive, to produce a promotional video that is able to introduce tourism potential contained Coban Sewu waterfall on Malang District to prospective tourists, both domestic and foreign.

Abstract

Sekolah Budaya Tunggulwulung (SBT) was established in 2014 for people who want to conserve local culture. However, since establishment this school still not capable to reach enthusiasts from youth, and below target student. Therefore, using websites and social media through Instagram and Facebook as an online promotional medium, it is expected to increase percentage youth followers for SBT. To concept online promotional planning, the writer use 4 stages designing method, ie data collection, data analysis using STP method (segmenting, targeting, and positioning), concepts design comprising 3 aspects (media planning, creative planning, and design planning), and visualization. The results of online promotional planning design is SBT’s website, and 12 social media designs for Instagram and Facebook content to inform netizen. With the existence of such media, Sekolah Budaya Tunggulwulung presence increase and more student wants to apply to SBT.

Abstract

Today the world is entering the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, where technology has become a part of human life. In the world of education, the rapid development of internet and technology encourages renewal efforts in learning. The problem identified one of them is the study of 3D modeling DKV Ma Chung is still conventional and has not adapted the learning in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution. The method used is Research and Development with an ADDIE version development research model. The steps are: Analysis, Design, Development, and Implementation. The stages of development using stages in video production are pre production, production, and post production. The final result of the study was a Schoology-based 3D modeling learning video product for DKV Ma Chung students. Product eligibility can be seen from the material expert assessment results with a percentage of 85% which is categorized as highly feasible. The results of the media experts with a percentage rate of 88% are categorized as highly feasible. Product ratings by students get a percentage of 88% which is categorized very well.

Abstract

City of Culinary is the nickname of Malang City because within Malang City, there are lots of types of Culinary spots, including the legendary culinary destinations that has been around for decades. However, the popularity of modern café that keeps developing in the past few years can cause the fall of Malang City’s legendary culinary tour destination. Therefore, photography is used as the media that will gives information about the whereabouts of the legendary culinary destinations, so that people keep on knowing the legendary culinary destinations that exist, and those destinations still survive in this modern era. The design method that is used is a research method with qualitative approach. Through data collection such as interviews, observation, and documentation, a lot of datas was obtained to be analyzed to find the design concept of this photobook. The photobook concept obtained is photography, nostalgia, and cultural preservation. The genre that is used for this photography is food photography, where the photo results will be packed as a photobook with 10 legendary culinary destinations that has the dimension of 20 x 20 cm with 117 pages thick, printed in full color, and bounded with hardcover. Beside legendary food photo from those 10 legendary culinary destinations, this photobook is also consists of the short history from each of the legendary culinary, the legendary menu, and informations about the location of the places, accompanied with QR Code that is connected to Google Maps.

Abstract

Industry 4.0 is marked with the increasing of information tecnology uses. This store which has been around since 1950 hasn’t been using information technology for its promotion. This final project has the purpose to design a promotion media with Insagram and printed media to promote Sido Mukti Coffeeshop so that it can compete in the industry era 4.0. Qualitative method is used to describe an object. Design technique is started with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. From the observation, the data obtained is about the situation of the store and its surounding. From the interviews, the data obtain is about the history of the store, the store development, photos, and videos. The theme of the design that is used is vintage with cross-hatching illustration. The final output is instagram design and other supporting printed media. The conclusion is, its better if all kind of business is up to date with the developments that exist so that they can compete without leaving any advantages that is offered. It is hoped that the next designer is able to explore Sido Mukti Coffeeshop’s advantages that hasn’t been showed yet.

Abstract

Over time, the existence of traditional Indonesian food has become increasingly rare due to the entry of confectionary culture from abroad so efforts are needed to remind the younger generation that traditional cuisine is important. This design aims to produce illustrated books that are able to introduce traditional Javanese snacks and attract the interest of readers aged 17-35 years. The method used is a qualitative method, through literature study and secondary data collection online. The concept used is a digital illustration with naturalist style followed by doodle illustrations. In addition, this book is equipped with making recipes so that readers can make their own snacks in this book. From this design produced the main media in the form of a 60-page illustrated book with illustrations of 13 types of traditional Javanese snacks along with their descriptions and recipes, exhibition supporting media in the form of x-banners and 3 illustrated posters, and merchandise in the form of totebags, aprons, and placemat.

Abstract

Character design is a very important part of any storytelling media such as comics, novels, games, animation and the like because characters are the wheel of the whole story. A character design that has a well-thought-out and well-planned concept will certainly be more prominent and attractive compared to character designs that are instantly and haphazardly created. The focus of this research is the design of the dragon character in the Monster Hunter World game called Xeno'jiiva which was the best game in early 2018.The purpose of this research is to analyze the character design concept of Xeno'jiiva in the game Monster Hunter World with the aim of sharing knowledge about how we can design a character concept very creatively and without limits by using an intertextuality approach. This study uses a qualitative method with the approach of the paradigm matrix manga technique which is deepened by the holistic character design which is analyzed intertextually. With this research it is hoped that it can provide a better output in improving character design learning, so that in the future it can help develop the creative industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

The use of sensationalism as a medium to boost popularity is not a new phenomenon in the entertainment industry, as demonstrated by Mimi Peri, one of the Instagram celebrities on social media. She leverages her gained popularity as a source of livelihood, presenting herself as a flirty woman with masculine features and adding dramatic content based on her imagination as an angel from heaven. By using Burke's visual rhetoric theory, which is divided into three elements: pathos, logos, and ethos, we can examine the meaning of signs and the purpose of the visuals displayed on Mimi Peri's Instagram account. Additionally, dramatism theory is used as supporting theory to further analyze Mimi Peri's character in greater depth. Mimi Peri has received both tremendous appreciation and criticism from netizens, but the backlash she receives only increases her popularity. The more people criticize her, the more she is discussed. This indicates that Mimi Peri intentionally portrays herself as a dramatic figure to achieve popularity and become a commodity in social media.
