Abstract

Marriage has a deep meaning in the Samin community, a Javanese ethnic group in Blora Regency, Central Java. This study uses an ethnographic approach to understand the meaning and identity of marriage in Sami culture. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with community leaders, family members, and direct observation. The results of the study show that marriage in the Samin community is a social bond that involves two families, not just two individuals. Marriage ceremonies strengthen bonds between generations and maintain harmony within social groups. Marriage is also closely related to the concepts of religion and spirituality. Traditional wedding rituals and ceremonies, such as the marriage procedure for the Samin indigenous people, are carried out through the stages of nakokke, mbalesi gunem, ngendek, nyuwito, ngenger, paseksen, and tingkepan, which are passed down from generation to generation and become an integral part of the marriage procession. The role of traditional and religious leaders is central to formalising marriages. Overall, the meaning of marriage in the Samin community reflects the rich culture and spirituality that are deeply rooted in their lives. Marriage is one of the foundations for maintaining their cultural identity and determining the direction of social life in the future.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 changed the paradigm to student-centered and accelerated the development of digital learning media. YouTube video media is a digital technology learning media that allows interesting, concrete, and contemporary social studies learning by Generation Z. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of YouTube video media in social studies learning to increase student learning motivation. The research methodology used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest and posttest design. The population in this study amounted to 75 students from class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Badau, Belitung District, Indonesia. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling. A total of 50 students were selected using cluster random sampling. The experimental group (n=25) was given YouTube video media learning, while the control group (n=25) was given conventional media in image media. The research instrument was a validated learning motivation questionnaire. Hypothesis testing was carried out using t-tests, while the increase in learning motivation used the N-gain test. The research findings showed an increase in student learning motivation. The experimental group showed a higher increase in learning motivation than the control group. This shows that YouTube video media in social studies learning effectively increases students' learning motivation. The implication of this research shows that YouTube video media has the potential to increase learning motivation in social studies learning. Further research on the effectiveness of YouTube video media can help social studies teachers use YouTube optimally to increase student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine “The Impact of the Presence of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman on Community Income in North Purwokerto District.” The research method employed was a qualitative approach. The population consisted of residents in North Purwokerto District, while the sample included boarding house owners in Grendeng Village. Data were collected through observation and interviews, using observation forms and questionnaires as research instruments. The results indicate that the presence of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman has brought positive impacts, such as increased business and employment opportunities, the concentration of economic activities, and the growth of various businesses including boarding houses, photocopy services, food stalls, coffee shops, grocery stores, laundry services, and other enterprises. On the other hand, negative impacts have emerged due to population growth and high levels of community activity. Population density can trigger various problems. Additionally, high mobility may lead to social issues and environmental consequences. The large number of students coming from outside Purwokerto, with diverse cultural backgrounds, makes it challenging for the local community to preserve their original culture.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Baturraden Lokawisata on increasing income and socio-economic welfare for the surrounding community. Using a qualitative approach. The results showed that Baturraden Lokawisata became the main source of income for the local community. The income earned is used to fulfill daily needs, finance children's education, and other household needs. In addition to the economic impact, there is also a harmonious social relationship between locawisata managers. However, some respondents complained about the decline in income and hoped for innovation from tourism managers. Baturraden Tourism is proven to make a real contribution to the economic and social welfare of the community, but still requires development so that the benefits are more optimal.

Abstract

This study examines efforts to address unemployment in Pliken Village, Kembaran District, Banyumas Regency. Unemployment is one of the social problems that has broad impacts on community life, both economically and psychologically. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, conducted through in-depth interviews with the Village Head and the Head of the Service Section as the main informants. The results show that the village government has implemented various community empowerment programs, including skills training, the establishment of MSME associations, the organization of joint markets, and collaboration with regional government agencies. These programs are considered effective in creating new job opportunities, increasing community income, and significantly reducing the unemployment rate. The main obstacles faced are limited budget allocations and the prioritization of poverty alleviation programs for the elderly. Therefore, a strategic approach to sustainable village economic development is required, based on local potential and the strengthening of institutions such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and village cooperatives. The findings emphasize the importance of the active role of the village government in building an independent and adaptive economic ecosystem as a long-term solution to unemployment problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of students of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman in community economic empowerment through their support for the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Grendeng area, North Purwokerto. The Grendeng area was selected due to its relatively high concentration of MSMEs and its geographical proximity to the Unsoed campus. This research employed a qualitative method through observation and in-depth interviews with MSME actors and students involved in related activities. The results indicate that the presence and activities of students in the area contribute to increased demand for MSME products, act as collaborative partners, and serve as promotional agents for MSME actors in sectors such as food businesses, photocopy services, boarding houses, and laundry services. These findings emphasize that students’ contributions can serve as a strategic and sustainable local economic force.
