Abstract

This study aims to see how students' ability to solve problems related to surface area and volume of combined space builds. The research method used was qualitative descriptive involving 15 grade VIII students at a junior high school in Karawang Regency. The results showed that there was a variation in students' abilities, only a small percentage of students were able to solve the problem well, while most students still had difficulties. Common mistakes encountered are related to calculations and understanding the concept of building space that has not been fully mastered by most students. This information becomes an important basis for improving the quality of geometry learning in schools, focusing on areas that cause difficulties for students.

Abstract

The quality of a nation's education and the current education system can be used to measure the nation's progress. The quality of education in Indonesia is currently very concerning. Upon observation, researchers stated that students lack the fighting spirit needed to overcome various challenges. Fighting power plays an important role in this. This study used qualitative research methods. The sample of this study consisted of all students of class X Accounting of SMKN 1 Sei Bejangkar. Pre-Experiment Design with One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design model was used in this study. Based on the research findings and discussion of the impact of guided discovery learning model on mathematical reasoning ability and students' fighting power on the material of function relation in class X Accounting of SMKN 1 Sei Bejangkar, it can be concluded that there is a good influence in the use of guided discovey learning model on mathematical reasoning ability and students' fighting power.

Abstract

This study aims to develop mathematics worksheets (LKPD) using traditional game-based ethnomathematics of congklak for second-grade elementary school students and evaluate their feasibility. Research and Development (RD) methodology, employing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), was utilized. Data collected included qualitative and quantitative data from SDN 182/I Hutan Lindung during January-February 2024 through validation questionnaires completed by experts and interviews with teachers and students. The data were analyzed to assess the feasibility of the developed ethnomathematics-based LKPD. The outcome is a highly valid and practical mathematics worksheet for second-grade elementary school students, as indicated by average scores of 5 from subject matter, media, and language experts, and teacher response questionnaires. Student response questionnaires in small group trials averaged 4.33, while in large group trials, they averaged 4.58, both showing high practicality. Thus, it can be concluded that the developed mathematics worksheets based on traditional game-based ethnomathematics of congklak are highly valid and practical for second-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with local Kerinci culture. The approach used in this research is quantitative using a pre-experimental type. The design used is called One Group Pretest-Posttest. The essay question test is the instrument used in this research. The data from this study was not normally distributed, so the Wilcoxon test was used for statistical analysis. The Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test findings show a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.000. This shows that there is an improvement between the before and after tests, the test aims to help students improve their mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model integrated with local Kerinci culture.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' mathematical representation abilities in solving problem-based story problems. The research method applied is a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The population of this study was 24 students of class X MIPA 1 at SMA Negeri 1 Telukjambe Barat, and the sample taken was 3 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The subject selection process is carried out to ensure that the sample reflects special characteristics or traits that are relevant to the research objectives. As a result, subjects were selected to represent categories of high, medium, and low mathematical representation ability. The data collection technique is in the form of a written test designed to measure students' mathematical representation abilities, with the test material focusing on sequences and series. The mathematical representation ability indicators measured involve visual, symbolic and verbal representations. The results show that students' ability to solve story problems is still moderate, with the potential to improve visual, symbolic and verbal skills; students in the high category can fulfill all representation indicators, while students in the low category require intervention to improve their understanding of mathematical word problems. The conclusion are the percentage of student achievement in visual and verbal aspects still being low, indicating the need for a learning approach that is more focused on developing visual representation abilities and verbally in the context of story problems to enrich students' experiences.

Abstract

Elementary school numeracy literacy skills play an important role in mathematics learning outcomes, but some studies only reveal quantitatively, so an in-depth analysis of the numeracy literacy skills of elementary school students is needed. this study aims to analyse the numeracy literacy skills of elementary school students. This research uses a descriptive approach, conducted on class V PKBM Quins, Tulungagung as many as 10 students, the selection of subjects is taken based on numeracy literacy skills and the ability to communicate well, from the existing subjects there is one subject who has the best numeracy literacy skills, namely subject N. then the instruments used are numeracy literacy tests, interviews, observation, and documentation. With data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. While in checking the validity of the research data using source triangulation techniques. The results of this study indicate that students' numeracy literacy skills are as follows. the subject is able to analyse the information contained in the problem, use symbols and numbers and understand in solving the problem. the subject is able to operate well, easily manipulate numbers and symbols, the subject can conclude the results of the analysis and convert them into narrative form.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the problem-solving ability of grade XII students of SMKN 2 Karawang for the 2023/2024 Academic Year in terms of their initial mathematical abilities. This research uses a qualitatively descriptive approach. The subjects consisted of six students who were selected representatively to represent each level of initial mathematical ability.  Data was collected based on problem-solving ability tests and initial mathematical ability tests. The collected data were analyzed to evaluate students' problem-solving abilities in three categories: high, medium, and low math skills. Students who have high initial mathematical abilities manage to precisely meet all indicators at each stage of problem solving. Students with moderate initial mathematical ability still do not meet the indicators at all stages of mathematical problem solving. Students with low initial mathematical ability understand all indicators but do not apply them to every solution.

Abstract

Mathematics word problems written are often considered difficult by students, so there are often many mistakes made by students in solving mathematics story problems. The aim of this research is to analyze the errors made by students in solving word problems on fractions by analyzing the result of students answer. This research inludes qualitative research with the type of case study and was carried out at SD 3 Jekulo. The informants in this research were seven grade at SD 3 Jekulo. The result research of this research were that the students who were used as informants experienced errors in solving story problems on fractions. Mistakes made by students include reading errors, errors in understanding the problems, transformation errors, and errors in writing the final answer. The conclusion of this research is that the seven sixth grade students were proven to have experienced errors in solving fractions questions.

Abstract

ability to think reversible or can also be called reversibility is the ability to build a reversible two-way correlation. The ability to think reversible is essential because this ability can affect problem solving. Therefore, this article is made to describe the reversible thinking ability of grade VIII high school students in solving mathematical problems on the material of the two-variable linear equation system of the graph method. This study uses a descriptive analysis method with a qualitative approach. The subjects used in this study were 15 junior high school students grade VIII. This reversible thinking can be analyzed based on two indicators, namely go forward and reverse. The data collection process is carried out through the provision of tests. The results obtained from this study showed that the reversible thinking ability of the students was still low, Because there are still many of these students who do not have adequate ability in reversible thinking so that they cannot solve problems properly.
