Abstract

Food security is the condition of fulfilling food needs in terms of quantity and quality from household to national levels, and one way to meet these needs is through the application of Sustainable Food Gardens (P2L). Sustainable Food Gardens are crucial for enhancing food self-sufficiency, supporting food consumption diversification by cultivating various crops and raising livestock, optimizing land use in household gardens, and contributing to local economic strengthening through local production. The implementation of P2L enables communities to contribute to environmental sustainability in the agricultural sector. This service is conducted in Cijaku Village, Cijaku District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province. It utilizes qualitative descriptive methods by conducting socialization, assistance, focus group discussions, and evaluation. Empowering communities through Sustainable Food Utilization to support household food security involves various factors that support sustainability and food self-sufficiency at the local level. The results of the socialization showed that 48.14% of respondents did not know about the P2L program before, and 40.74% had never attended related training. After the socialization, 51.85% of the community understood that P2L could help family food security, and 59.26% started implementing P2L by planting green vegetables. Socialization is considered easy to do (48.14%) and well-delivered (51.85%). P2L can support food diversification, and sustainable land management, serve as an adaptation strategy to climate change, optimize water usage, empower women, increase household production, and enhance community involvement in meeting food needs independently.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are integral to Indonesia's economy, facing diverse challenges during the pandemic. This paper addresses the hurdles encountered by MSMEs, emphasizing the imperative of bolstering their branding and digital marketing competencies for enduring resilience. Despite their significance, many MSMEs, notably those in rural regions like Karangrejek Village, lack the requisite skills and resources for effective digital platform utilization, necessitating comprehensive support initiatives. Pandemic-induced issues encompass capital constraints and product marketing dilemmas, particularly evident among Karangrejek Village MSMEs. Post-pandemic recovery demands intensified aid to facilitate comprehensive revival, crucial for fostering local economic potential and community welfare enhancement. To address these challenges, a sustainable community service initiative will be launched, focusing on augmenting MSMEs' branding and digital marketing capacities. The program aims to stimulate optimal economic growth, especially in the post-Covid-19 era. It encompasses training sessions on leveraging digital media for product branding, expanding market reach through product marketing strategies, mentorship in product packaging design, and harnessing social media platforms. Through this initiative, MSMEs can fortify their resilience and contribute significantly to the community's economic prosperity.

Abstract

Work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) affect millions globally, involving painful conditions of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves due to workplace factors like repetitive tasks and awkward postures. Common ergonomic risks include repetitive tasks, awkward postures, forceful exertions, and prolonged static positions. A program at Luang Por Poen Hospital in Thailand educated workers in the Herbal Medicines division on WMSDs, with management support. The program provided education on WMSDs to workers and management, with strong support from company leadership. Workers were instructed to perform muscle stretching exercises before, during, and after work, and to continue these exercises at home. Over a month, supervisors observed workers' stretching routines. The Nordic Body Map Index (NBMI) was used to assess pain; workers reported pain in various body regions. Severe neck pain decreased from six workers to one, and severe back pain from three workers to none. However, severe shoulder pain remained unchanged. No workers reported severe pain in the arm, back, buttock, wrist, calf muscle, or ankle after the program. In conclusion, incorporating stretching into the work routine benefits workers by improving physical health, mental well-being, and productivity. Encouraging regular stretching and providing opportunities for stretching breaks can create a healthier, more ergonomic work environment.

Abstract

Pande Besi or blacksmith craftsmen, is one of the small industries that has developed in Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. Blacksmith craftsmen are exposed to a hot, dusty, and smoky environment, posing potential hazards to occupational health and safety. They typically work on the floor with makeshift seats, adopting non-ergonomic postures that can lead to musculoskeletal complaints such as pain in the back, waist, neck, shoulders, and buttocks. The purpose of this service activity is to educate blacksmith craftsmen on the importance of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining proper working postures to prevent accidents and occupational diseases. This activity involves training and mentoring, targeting 30 individuals, focusing on the use of PPE, and improving work attitudes to reduce musculoskeletal complaints and occupational diseases. Results from 30 respondents showed that before counseling and assistance, the majority of the blacksmith craftsmen's knowledge was in the sufficient category (46.67 percent). After counseling, 90 percent of the respondents' knowledge was in the good category. Regarding work attitudes, before mentoring, the highest value was less than 70 percent, while after mentoring, 93.33 percent were categorized as having a good work attitude. The impact of this activity is an increase in knowledge and improvement in the work attitudes of blacksmith craftsmen in Tabanan Regency.

Abstract

The prevalence of illness complaints among the Indonesian population is 228.15 percent, with 65.01 percent opting for self-treatment using synthetic drugs, while 38.30 percent prefer traditional medicine. The use of traditional medicines in communities, including in Katimbang Village, remains significantly lower compared to synthetic alternatives. A comprehensive strategy is needed to enhance public knowledge and understanding of how to obtain and utilize traditional medicine from medicinal plants found around the home. This socialization and cultivation activity was conducted at Integrated Service Post (Posyandu) RW 04, Katimbang Village, involving 21 community members. The event included a socialization session on family medicinal plants, pre- and post-tests, Q&A discussions, and the planting of 50 medicinal plant seeds, with participation from students and local residents. Statistical tests revealed the success of this intervention in improving participants' understanding of medicinal plants, with an average pre-test score of 8.4762 increasing to 8.6190 in the post-test. More than 50 percent of participants scored ≥80 in the post-test. The success of this outreach and planting activity provides a strong foundation for further increasing public awareness of the use of medicinal plants as complementary treatments for various illnesses.
